Tricker ThreeG – Use SlingPlayer Mobile on 3G

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

Tricker ThreeG Tricker ThreeG is a mod that allows the SlingPlayer Mobile application (available via the App Store for $29.99) to work on not only WiFi but also on 3G. It is not very often that I write about an application/mod/hack that I cannot test but, I know that allowing SlingPlayer Mobile to work on 3G is something a lot of people want. If you you own a SB, have purchased the SlingPlay Mobile application and have installed this hack…let us know how it is working for you! It would be pretty sweet if it actually works. iPhone 3G Available for At Home Activation?

The iPhone rumor mill is hot with a rumor that AT&T is now allowing for at home activation of the iPhone 3G. It seems that AT&T is now allowing the purchase of the 3G iPhone online and then instead of going to an AT&T store to activate it, you are able to activate it via iTunes. Now, I have read quite a few article about this rumor and have done some research on AT&T’s website (as well as talked to a AT&T rep – see below). Every article I have read says that it is an “unconfirmed” report BG has the most convincing report saying,

“While we haven’t spoken to any of our ninjas to confirm this yet, we did speak to three customer service reps as well as someone in the office of the President – each confirming that at-home activation is a go.”

I have updated the information for this article (see Update section), it seems that it is definitely an iTunes activation process….please read below. [Read more…]

3G….Finally!!!

AiS Guys…I’m soo excited. I sat down to write a few posts as we travel and what happens, I look down and I have 3G on my iPhone!!! We do not have 3G where we live (we are supposed to have it no later than Thanksgiving) but we are currently going through Minneapolis, Minnesota and for the first time we have 3G!! YAY!! So, I took a few screenshots and Doug did a quick network test using iNetwork Test (an App Store app). We are currently getting around 1304kbps download where we normally get between 50-150kps. So…I was totally excited. It is amazing what a difference there is when you have 3G!! Everything seems to run faster…even just loading all my text messages! Let us know in the comments what you think of your 3G or lack there of!

We are finally settled for the night so, I thought I would let you know what the Dev Team has posted on their blog today. Though they have made progress, they still do not have any estimation on when there will be a software unlock available for the iPhone 3G.

“Here’s a screenshot of a 3G iPhone whose baseband has been modified. And even though it’s modified — and fails the integrity check — it’s still running. Can you guess where the patch was made?

Solar Powered iPhone 3G Case

Doug and I had been discussing a few days ago how quickly the iPhone 3G’s battery goes dead…I will say, with confidence, that the first gen iPhone’s battery life is much better than the iPhone 3G’s battery life!! Well, the next day, Doug sent me a link to a solar powered iPhone 3G case! It seems that the guys over at Mobile Fun feel our pain and have developed a case that can recharge your iPhone 3G using direct sunlight. According to Solar Feeds, it will take around 3 hours to charge the battery on your iPhone 3G to a level in which your iPhone can function. It would take around 10 hours to fully charge your iPhone 3G. It also comes with a mini USB option in case you do not have any direct sunlight. Overall, [Read more…]

NetShare 1.0

Available In: App Store       Price: $9.99

NetShareSo I was really bummed out when I heard that NetShare got booted from the App Store. So I was going to write all about it and I decided on a whim to check the App Store and it was there! I bought it right away just in case something happens again. (good thing I did, they pulled it again) For those who don’t know, NetShare shares your 3G or EDGE with your laptop through WiFi.

The app comes with a guide on how to connect your iPhone with your Mac but no guide for Windows. There’s also a really good Mac guide over at appleinsider.com. I’m using Windows (unfortunately) so I went looking for a guide. I found lots of info over at macrumors.com like how to get Firefox to work, how to route all network traffic through your iPhone, and what I was really looking for… a Windows XP guide which even has a video walkthrough which is posted below. I even found a video guide for Mac and Vista. [Read more…]
