One of my favorite features of the application is that it immediately opens to a map of all the garage sales surroundings your current location. Sooooo helpful! I also really like that you can search for specific items you would like to find at a garage sale. So, if you are looking for Legos, you can search for Legos and it will display all the garage sales that have that key word in their description. The garage sales are pulled from craigslist which allows the ability to search the garage sale’s listing for keywords. Very cool. iGarageSale is everything I want in a garage sale application… in an easy-to-use interface. Guess it doesn’t get much better than that.

What I like about the app:
    • The ability to view garage sales that are taking place that day or that week
    • You can mark specific sales as “favorites” which then displays them as a different color on the map so you can easily identify them
    • You can hide garage sales from the map once you have been to them… which I LOVE… I always forget which ones I have already been to!
    • You can get direction from your current location to a specific garage sale
    • You can select each garage sale and get specific information about them
    • You can E-mail, facebook or twitter a map of your favorited garage sales

There is a free version of the app but I made the plunge and bought the full version… which I’m glad I did. The full version works on both the iPhone and the iPad.

I’m not super huge on Social Networking (unlike my social networkingaholic husband) but I really like this application. It is so intuitive and there are enough settings to allow me to customize the application how I would like it. It is extremely easy to find my friends who have the application… it searches Contacts, facebook and twitter in a very user friendly interface. It is also easy to stay informed on who is commenting and “liking” your photos through either push notifications or a nice little, non-intrusive pop-up when you open the application. And because it is an photo networking application… it keeps me interested.

The only thing I would like to see is more people using it!

When you install StayOpened, it will be added into the stock Settings application. You will need to go in and turn the app On. There is also an option to turn on the “Purchase Confirmation Title.” This option allows you to change the word “purchase” when you select an app to buy. You are able to customize the word “purchase” by typing in a new Title. If you turn on the “Purchase Confirmation Title” option, don’t forget to type something into the title or it will just display blank and that is a little confusing… trust me!

Once I got things figured out… this app worked great. I did not have any issues with install or updating apps in the App Store. Everything downloaded in the background like it was supposed to. A helpful little hack if you ask me. You can get StayOpened via the modmyi source.

I haven’t had a chance to test the app a ton but what I have tested works nicely. I also find the app to be clean and easy to use. I think I’m going to like this!! What I’m really interested in is whether or not people will start using Google Voice instead of their carrier.

Main Guidelines:

● We have lots of kids downloading lots of apps, and parental controls don’t work unless the parents set them up (many don’t). So know that we’re keeping an eye out for the kids.

● We have over 250,000 apps in the App Store. We don’t need any more Fart apps. If your app doesn’t do something useful or provide some form of lasting entertainment, it may not be accepted.

● If your App looks like it was cobbled together in a few days, or you’re trying to get your first practice App into the store to impress your friends, please brace yourself for rejection. We have lots of serious developers who don’t want their quality Apps to be surrounded by amateur hour.

● We will reject Apps for any content or behavior that we believe is over the line. What line, you ask? Well, as a Supreme Court Justice once said, “I’ll know it when I see it”. And we think that you will also know it when you cross it.

● If your app is rejected, we have a Review Board that you can appeal to. If you run to the press and trash us, it never helps.

● This is a living document, and new apps presenting new questions may result in new rules at any time. Perhaps your app will trigger this.

Apple has also updated their iOS Developer Program License Agreement. The update actually “relaxes” some of the restrictions on the tools developers can use to create their apps. Below is what they have to say about that!

“We are continually trying to make the App Store even better. We have listened to our developers and taken much of their feedback to heart. Based on their input, today we are making some important changes to our iOS Developer Program license in sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2 and 3.3.9 to relax some restrictions we put in place earlier this year.

In particular, we are relaxing all restrictions on the development tools used to create iOS apps, as long as the resulting apps do not download any code. This should give developers the flexibility they want, while preserving the security we need.

In addition, for the first time we are publishing the App Store Review Guidelines to help developers understand how we review submitted apps. We hope it will make us more transparent and help our developers create even more successful apps for the App Store.
