The update to version 1.1.0 of Whirlwind21 makes a few changes to the application. The first change you will notice is a new icon. There are no changes to the app looks or plays however, there is a new Help button. In the upper right corner of the app, the About option has been replaced with a Help option. In the Help option, you will get basic info on how to play the game, scoring rules and copyright info about the app. The Scoring Rules are nice because there were a few that I didn’t know about…like the 5 Card Charlie. A simple update but, a fun game!

Whirlwind21 is basically Blackjack Solitaire. The object of the game is to score as close to 21 as possible in all five rows….without going over 21. When the app opens, you will get the main play screen. At the top of the screen you have the options; New Game and About. New Game will start and new game and About will give your a little info about the game and your High Score. At the bottom of the play screen you can see your current score and how many cards are left before a reshuffle.

To begin playing just tap on the column you would like the card to be added to. It will then move the card and display the next card. Remember the object of the game is to get 21 points in each column or as close to 21 points as possible without going over. Cards 1-10 and worth the card value (1=1 point, 5=5 points…). K, Q and J’s are worth 10 points and an A is worth either 1 or 11 points. Randomly you will get a card with a bomb on it. That card will clear a column. The column will also clear if you get exactly 21 points. If you get all the columns filled and there are no move moves, you will get a pop-up saying Game Over. You can then start a new game by selecting New Game.

Overall, it is a decently fun game. I had never played Blackjack Solitaire before today and I picked up on it pretty quick…so, it is easy to learn. Definitely a game to check out. You can get Whirlwind21 via Cydia through the BigBoss source. For firmware 2.0 only.
