LockInfo, by David Ashman, is a seriously sweet mod that allows you to add information to your lockscreen such as; weather information, upcoming calendar events, missed calls, missed text messages and new emails.

Once installed, you can find LockInfo in your stock Settings application. The application is extrememly customizable and has some pretty cool features.

In the settings you are able to turn on/off a Lockscreen and Homescreen option. The Lockscreen option adds the mod to your lockscreen. The Homescreen option adds the mod as a page on your SpringBoard between your Spotlight Search page and the first page of your applications. You can have either have just the Lockscreen option, just the Homescreen option or both options turned on. Very cool.

A few other cool option include the ability to adjust the transparency of the mod, the ability to choose how you would like the Media Controls to display within the mod, the ability to collapse the cells (which allows you to tap on each option and collapse them giving you the ability view more information) and the ability to reorder the plugins.

Each of the plugins; Calendar, Mail, Phone, SMS and WeatherIcon are able to be customized as well as be disabled/enabled.

The mod displays very nicely on both the lockscreen and the homescreen. It is well designed and the effect on the “collapsing” feature is smooth. Overall, a sweet mod worth definitely checking out.

<strike>The only issue I have with the mod is that it is displaying yesterday’s events (Sunday… today is Monday) in the Calendar. I’m not really sure why but, it does. Not a huge issue but hopefully one that will be fixed in the next update. </strike> Ok, user error. The Calendar displays correctly!

Speaking of the next update, Ashman plans on adding more features to the mod including; Twitter, Facebook, Todo, Things, Push Notifications, MMS… etc. I look forward to seeing some updates!

You can get the LockInfo mod via the modmyi source.

Note: you will need to update the WeatherIcon mod to version 2.2.23 for it to work with the LockInfo mod.

Birthday Cal Push is an application that will put your Contacts’ birthday’s into your stock Calendar application. I was actually totally stoked to see this application. As far as I know, this is the first app of this type.

Once installed, all you have to do is tap on the Birthday Cal Push icon and the application will open and close. In theory, all your contacts’ birthday’s will then be in your Calendar. However, this application did not work for me. I tapped on the icon, it opened and closed, I went to my Calendar and I got nothing. So, I gave it another shot…still nothing. I even tried entering a new birthday for one of my contacts and then running the Birthday Cal Push app.

Well, somewhere along the line, my Calendar application was not happy with the Birthday Cal Push application and now my Calendar no longer functions. If I try to open my stock Calendar, it opens briefly and then closes again and I cannot seem to fix it (yes, I tried respringing, restarting, uninstalling, reinstalling and rerunning the application). So, I would say use this app with caution or maybe just wait for the next update.

Birthday Cal Push is available via the BigBoss source.

I’m not sure if it has been a while since I have done a review of Lock Calendar or just a while since they have updated it! Either way…there are some new features in the app. In the settings for Lock Calendar (which is location in your stock Settings applicaiton) you now have the ability to choose a specific calendar to display on your lock screen (which is a great faeture) and the ability to do a lot more customizing of the app. You are able to select the seperator color, the background color and transpaency and the text color, current color, font type and font size for the Date Bar, Title, Location and Time. You can pretty much customize the app to look however you want now! I will say that it is not the most user friendly interface but, after a little time…you will get the hang of it.

The Calendar application for firmware 3.0 didn’t have a lot of changes but there are some pretty important ones. Starting with the ability to add Invitees to your event. Just tap it and it lets you pick from your contact list. Next is Availability. This shows if you are busy, free, tentative or out of office. These two little feature make Calendar a little nicer, but there’s one more. A pretty big feature is the ability to search. At the top of “list view” there is a search box. Just start typing and it will show you results. This is all very useful to those of you using your iPhone for business. Overall the app stayed pretty much the same with some new features. Let me know in the comments what else you think the Calendar App should have as features.

The No Calendar Date application is a mod that will remove the date from the calendar icon on your SpringBoard. As the developer mentions in the More Info, this is nice for themes that have smaller icons…most likely for those of you using the FiveIrows mod or the FCSB mod.

When you install the No Calendar Date application, it will be added into WinterBoard where it can then be activated/deactivated. In order for it to display correctly, you will want to move it above your theme in the WinterBoard list. Screenshots below.

First off, let me preface this review by saying that I am an organization freak. I spend more than enough of my day clearing my email inbox, keeping my calendar straight, and creating and checking off my list of to-do items. I feel like I have a pretty tight system in place: Outlook for personal information management (PIM) at home, and Gmail for on the road. Google Calendar on the road and a nice OTA sync with the iPhone (thanks Google!). I just switched from Remember the Milk to Toodledo and recently purchased ToDo to keep things in sync on the iPhone. However, when Organizer came up on the review docket, I decided to give it a try.

Overview
Organizer’s screen looks something straight out of a desk planner that I used to have prior to using electronic PIM devices (ah, memories of my first Palm Pilot, or better yet, my Casio clamshell). A long tap on the iPhone’s screen allows you to input text that you can then manipulate (font, size, color) and place wherever you want on the screen. Changing the bullet point to a checkbox alters the item to a task, and options include a nice cut/paste feature, searchable entries, use of emoji, and inclusion of a landscape view upon rotation of the iPhone.

Keeping a Diary
The look of Organizer is appealing, at least to this reviewer. I like the idea of having one app where I can see my schedule, to-do list, random notes, and other drawings all on one screen. With a recent update, the application’s badge shows the number of to-do tasks remaining for the day, and I found this to be a nice touch. Being able to cut/paste and move items around made it very easy to change appointments instead of having to open, edit, and re-save them as you would in a traditional calendar app. The novelty of Organizer is refreshing, and had me considering whether I could use this app on a daily basis.

Getting Things Done, a lot of them.
I was quite frustrated with Organizer at times, and reading the app store reviews, it appears that I was not alone. First, I knew that there were options to change the background color and include holidays, but I could not figure out how to do this for the longest time. It then occurred to me to check the settings from the home screen, and sure enough, there were the missing options. Of course, this makes sense, and I believe it is what developers are supposed to do, but still, it seems that apps find a way around this and I guess I’m just used to being able to access an options menu directly from the application. Next, I had a hard time figuring out how to make a to-do item. After trial and error, I learned that tapping on the bullet point cycles through several options, one of them being a checkbox. Tedious? Absolutely. Lastly, it just seems a bit cumbersome to use this app. This is probably because I’ve grown so accustomed to using my apps of choice for my organization, but still, this app seems to make me more frustrated at times rather than more organized.

Conclusion
Again, I will freely admit that I am definitely on the side of supreme organization and it is because of this that I cannot recommend this app for me at this time. I want my calendar and to-do list to be constantly up to date, and for this, I use Google Calendar, Toodledo, and iPhone apps that will easily sync with these programs. Perhaps, a simpler system could use Organizer as its sole application, and who knows, my life might even benefit from a shift to a simpler method. Unfortunately, I found that while Organizer offered a bit more simplicity, and it certainly offered an aesthetically pleasing appearance, I did not find it any easier to use, and when ease of use decreases, my ease of living also goes down. At $6.99, I’d recommend Organizer for those who don’t already have a calendar/to-do list system in place and will use their iPhone/iPod as the only method. For others, I’d suggest staying with your current method, at least until future updates bring Organizer more functionality.

This version fixes a few bugs (see screenshots below) but, also adds some cool new features. You now have the ability to add Date Separators, Header Transparencies and Entry Transparencies. If you go into the app settings (which is accessible through the stock Settings app) you are able to turn on/off the Date Separators (which puts a line between the dates) and adjust both the Header and Entry Transparencies to your choosing. This makes the app much more customizable! A very nice update. Oh, the update also adds a Spanish translation! See screenshots below.
<!--
