Ok, so I’ve found more sweet products on kickstarter.com for the iPhone and the next one I want to cover is a clip on lens called olloclip. It’s a great two in one lens that slides onto your iPhone and gives you fisheye, wide-angle & macro lenses. All you have to do is flip it around to switch between the lenses. Then just unscrew the wide angle lens to use the macro feature for 10x. The fisheye has about 180 Degree field-of-view while the wide-angle has double the normal view. If you support this project for $45 you can get your own. Or, once they are released they will be about $60 each. Check out the video and pics below.

FBphotoSave is a hack that allows you save photos from the Facebook application to your Camera Roll. Normally, the stock photo saving method that allows you to tap and hold on an image to save it to your device does not work in the Facebook application however FBphotoSave enables this feature.

It’s a super simple little hack. Once installed, you can use the hack by tapping and holding on any photo in the Facebook application. When you release your hold, you will get a pop-up with the options to Cancel the save or Confirm the save. If you select Confirm it will display a little HUD saying that the photo has been saved. You can then go into your Camera Roll and view the saved image.

The hack does have a few settings (located in the stock Settings application) that allow you to enable/disable the hack and adjust the quality of the saved photo. It would be nice if the slider to adjust the photo quality actually displayed the exact quality… maybe we will see that in an update.

Overall, FBphotoSave worked pretty well for me. There were a few times when I had to save an image a few times before it saved to my Camera Roll and one instance when it saved the previous image I had selected instead of the current image I had selected to save. But, overall, it seemed to work pretty well. I’m just stoked that I can actually save images from Facebook now! I don’t even know how many times I’m have tried to do that and then remembered it didn’t work! You can get FBphotoSave via the modmyi source.

I’ve been wanting a hack like this for a while. I’ve been in stores when I wish I could take video secretly. Now I can! The hack is called Stealth Cam and once installed its super easy. Just open your camera app, choose whether you want to take a picture or video, then lock your iPhone. Now just hit a volume button and it will take a pic or start the recording depending on which setting you’re on. If taking a video you can stop it with the volume button too. That’s it! Once you hit unlock you’ll be right back at the camera app. Now all I need is a hack that lets the camera record or stream in the background!

I talked about this app in episode 20 of i101 but the recent update was significant enough to write about it again. If you don’t remember, this app does what Photo Booth for the Mac does. It uses the front facing camera and adds silly effects. The update now allows you to use the rear camera too. It also added 4 new effects including AsciiArt (drawing the image with just letters, numbers and other ASCII characters), ModernArt, 100Me and NightVision. Check out the screenshots below for examples. There are a lot more features that were added so here’s the complete list:

List of Updates

- polished UI to get things done in less taps and more fun
- completely redesigned album
- completely redesigned settings
- 4 new effects added: AsciiArt, ModernArt, 100Me, NightVision
- added support for front and back camera
- automatically save to device photo library
- captures are now saved at native camera resolution
- new sharing feature to Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr
- new timer option mode
- new flash option mode
- some bugs fixed

It should help you to keep the camera more still and keep from blurry photos. This only works when the camera app is open or other apps using the camera feature. The news here is that it had been updated to work with 4.0 firmware so now you can use it to take HD 720p video! This is one of my top jailbreak apps that I just gotta have.

Note: In Cydia the notes for the app say it hasn’t been updated for iPhone 4.0. I’m guessing that means the device. Either the notes haven’t been updated or it just works. I’ve tried this on an iPhone 4 4.0.1 and an iPhone 3GS 4.0.1 and both work great!

Snappy is a camera application that allows you to launch the Camera without exiting the application you are currently in.

Once you have installed Snappy, it can be launched by tapping and holding the status bar. This will drop the Camera down allowing the ability to quickly take a photo. And by quickly I mean really fast… like wow! The app description says that it is up to six times faster than the native Camera application and I believe it.
google_ad_height = 60;
//-->

The beauty of this application is that it can be launched without exiting your current application. So, you could be reading an email and see a total photo op… instead of closing your email, navigating to the page containing your Camera application, waiting for the Camera to open and hoping that you haven’t missed the photo op… you can just tap and hold on the status bar and voila, take a picture! After you have taken the photo you can hit the Home Button and go right back to reading your email! I love it!

You also have the ability to view your Camera Roll, delete photos from your Camera Roll, send images from your Camera Roll all right from within Snappy… basically you have similar functionality as with the stock Camera application.

Another great feature of Snappy is that it can be launched from the lock screen. In the settings you do have the option to turn on/off both access to Snappy from lock screen and access to the Camera Roll from Lock Screen. So, you could turn off the ability to view your Camera Roll from the lock screen but turn on the ability to launch Snappy, that way you could still quickly take a photo from your lock screen.

Overall, a very cool Camera application! You can get Snappy via the BigBoss source and yes, it is worth the $1.99 price tag.

A double-tap on the screen will bring you to the menu. Here you will find the three shot options (Timer, Touch and Steady). In the Timer mode you have two pre-set times available to choose from; 5 seconds and 10 seconds. The Steady option also has two modes to choose from regular and car mode.

Once you take a picture, the image is added to the bottom of the screen as a thumbnail. You can view the full size image by tapping on the thumbnail once. If you decide you would like to keep one of the photos, you can save it to your Camera Roll by double-tapping it. You can easy delete an image my tapping, holding and dragging the image out of the photo slider.

There are a few things I really like about this application; I like that the Touch mode allows you to tap anywhere on the screen to take a picture, I like that when in Timer mode, the timer doesn’t start until you tap on the screen and then it starts to count down and I like that you can pause any of the shot modes by quickly tapping on the icon in the upper left corner.

There are a few things I would still like to see in the app; a Save All button would be nice so that you could quickly save all the images instead of having to select them all and it would be nice if it saved the image thumbnails when you close and reopen the application.

Other than that, the application has a nice design and with some practice, the interface is fun to use. Check out the App Store Description below for more info and instructions for 1Shoot.
