To an audience of hundreds of potential investors and media, LifeProof introduced the first and only waterproof, shockproof, dustproof, and snowproof case for Apple’s iPhone® 4 in a sleek design that provides full access to all device functions. The LifeProof cases are available for pre-order with shipment in April 2011 at an introductory price of $69.95.

Unlike bulky protective cases, LifeProof cases are sleek and ultra-slim yet designed to meet military specifications (MIL-SPEC), giving individuals complete freedom to use their iPhone in any wet, dirty, freezing or rough situation. The cable does work with the iPad, iPhone and the iPod touch (4th generation) however, they will only display 720p and not the 1080p the iPad 2 will display. The cable will be $39. It is not available yet but you can check out more info about it HERE on Apple’s website.

The second iPad 2 accessory is the Smart Cover. This is Apple’s new “case” which they are not calling a case but a cover. This is due to the fact that it only covers the front the iPad 2 and not the entire body. What also makes this cover unique is that it is magnetic. It connects to the iPad 2 using magnets.

“So much more than a case, the Smart Cover was designed alongside iPad 2 to be its perfect match: a thin, durable cover that magnetically aligns for a perfect fit. It automatically wakes and sleeps your iPad. It’s a handy stand for reading, watching, and typing. Its microfiber lining keeps your iPad screen clean. I was lucky enough to receive an iPad skin and a iPod Touch skin from iCarbons to review and I’ve got to say, I am very impressed! The skins are extremely easy to install and look amazing. They add minimal bulk to your device and are also scratch proof!

To install the skins all you need to do is peel the skin off of the backing sheet, align it with your device and then stick and push any bubbles out. I did have a little mishap when applying to my iPod Touch in which a corner wouldn’t stick down, but using a hair dryer on a low heat setting, I was able to heat the skin slightly and it then stick down with no problems.

The black iPad skin I received is very attractive on the back of my iPad, and the white Apple logo just finishes it off perfectly. Not only does the skin look great but it feels good too, with the skin offering a little more grip than a bare iPad does. The iPad skin does have an option for the front that goes around the bezel, but I have a screen protector on the front of my iPad so I didn’t install it.

I received the white version of the skin for my iPod Touch 3G and again it looks very good! The white version comes with a black Apple logo so it stands out and has the same carbon fiber look and feel.

To deal with the antenna program, Apple announced they would give away free bumpers. They also stated they could not keep up with the demand and would also offer other cases for free. If you already have a bumper and paid with a credit card you will get an automatic refund. If you paid cash you can take your receipt to the store and get your money back. If you purchased from AT&T you can fill out a refund request. If you haven’t done anything yet you can install an app from the App Store to pick your case. If you are experiencing reception issues with your iPhone 4, you are eligible to receive an iPhone 4 Bumper or other select third-party case from Apple at no charge. Download this free app onto your iPhone 4 and apply for your free Bumper or case.

Only iPhone 4 owners are eligible for this program. The app will check the IMEI and serial number to verify that you have an iPhone 4. Once eligibility is confirmed, you will be able to choose an iPhone 4 Bumper or other case. The Bumper or case will be shipped to you at no charge

All iPhone 4 purchases must be made by September 30, 2010, to qualify for this program. For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase.

Mine’s a light tan, but you get the point. I like having a bag for it because I can keep a charger, headphones, external batteries for my iPhone, and other accessories. I still want a case for my iPad, mostly for two things: grip and scratch protection front and back. I really do not want a film screen protector. I like directly interfacing with the glass. The Apple case would protect the case and give it grip but I just don’t know if I like the flap being in the way while I’m using it. So, yesterday, I was talking with a friend about cases and he was saying how he only uses Otterbox. I thought how sweet that would be to have an Otterbox case for the iPad.

I checked out their website and they have two! Two downfalls already are they aren’t for sale yet and they are pretty expensive at $64.95 (Commuter Series) & $89.95 (Defender Series). What I love about the more expensive one is the detachable cover that converts to a stand. This is just want I wanted. I want a case with good protection and grip but something to protect the front. Since the cover can be clipped to the back, front or removed completely, this gives me a lot of options. Of course the questions is, is how bulky is it? I guess we’ll have to wait and see but this gives you a nice options for a tough case. The lower model does not come with the cover.
