TVDown Screenshot Animation is a hack that changes the animation when taking a screenshot. Normally, when you take a screenshot, you would see a quick white flash. This hack changes the “flash” to an animation that is similar to an “old-tv-powering-down.” It’s kind of cool. You can get TVDown Screenshot Animation via the BigBoss source.

This hack does not add an icon to your SpringBoard or any settings in the stock Settings application. It is automatically activated as soon as it is installed in Cydia. To remove the hack, you would need to uninstall it in Cydia or use the Mobile Substrate Addons option in SBSettings.

FakeCarrier – Create Custom Carrier Name and Time String

FakeCarrier is an application that allows you to easily customize both your carrier name and time string in the Status Bar. The app is super simple to use. Once installed, it has three options; Fake Carrier, Fake Time and Show BatteryLevel. To change the carrier or time string just open the option, type your custom message into the space provided and select Set. The string will instantly change without having to close the app or respring your device… this is a nice feature because then you can instantly see what your custom string looks like and if you do not like it, you can just change it right there. To get the stock Carrier name of Time string back, just tap Reset. Simple and easy.

The Carrier name needs to be less than twelve characters to display the entire field. If your custom Carrier name is longer than twelve characters is will display the first eight characters and then ….. The time strings allows for a much longer custom string. I did notice that the app does have a few glitches. When you have a long custom time string and then change the Carrier name to something over ten characters… it gets a little confused. I had a few instances where the app didn’t work exactly correctly but overall… it got the job done. If you find things are really messed up, just reset everything and then respring your device.

FakeCarrier also has an option to turn on the battery percentage next to the battery image on the Status Bar. This will display the current battery percentage along with the battery image. This is probably a more useful option for those on older firmwares. The new iOS’s have this option built-in stock… you can do this by going into the stock Settings application then the General option and then the Usage option. There you will see the Battery Percentage option which you can turn on/off.

Snowman Theme – WinterBoard Theme

Snowman theme isn’t your typical Christmas theme… it’s more of a subtle Christmas feel. The theme contains around 35 custom icons however it has an icon mask which means it actually themes all icons (except Web Clips). It also contains a lock screen background, dock, wallpaper, sms background, Folders mod… etc. You can get Snowman Theme via the modmyi source. I’m still looking for the perfect Christmas theme. Let me know in the comments if you have a favorite.

A Christmas Theme – WinterBoard Theme

A Christmas Theme is a Christmas theme that is chalked full of mods. A few of them include; an animated falling snow lock screen, an animated fireplace wallpaper, a decent amount of icons, SMS mod, Phone mod, Safari mod, some UI mods, badges… etc. This theme is titled Christmas_Theme in WinterBoard. You will also want to select both the No Docked Icon Labels and No Undocked Icon Labels options in WinterBoard. You can get A Christmas Theme via the BigBoss source.

Analock HD – Customizable Lockscreen Mod

Analock HD is a simple, clean lock screen mod. The lock screen displays the current time, date, day of the week, temperature and weather conditions. And, like Sublime Lock HD, what I love most about this lock screen mod is how easy it is to customize… no coding involved!! I have actually been using this lock screen for a while now and I decided it was time to pass it along! Below are the step-by-step instructions on how to install, activate and customize the Analock HD lock screen mod.

Side Note: Like always, the instructions might look long but that is only because I explain every little step.

Instructions:
1. Install Analock HD from Cydia (it is in the BigBoss source).

2. Go into WinterBoard and activate AnalockHD.

3. Turn off any other lock screen mods… such as LockInfo.

4. Open Safari.

5. Type the following URL into Safari – file:///Library/Themes/AnalockHD.theme/config.html. This needs to be typed exactly. Or, if you are on your iOS device, just click on the link.

6. Set the URL as a bookmark. This is done by tapping the + icon at the bottom of Safari and selecting the “Add Bookmark” option.

7. In Safari, go to weather.yahoo.com and search for the weather you would like displayed on the lock screen. Example) St. Paul, MN

8. Once the specific weather page has loaded in Yahoo Weather, go into the URL and copy the number at the end of the URL. Example) http://weather.yahoo.com/united-states/minnesota/st.-paul-2487129/… you would copy the bold numbers in the example.

9. In Safari, open the bookmark for the theme settings that you created in step 6.

10. Choose your settings. This lock screen has a decent amount of settings including; the ability to choose a, clock type, color, temp unit, update times, clock text… etc.

11. Paste the number you copied from Yahoo Weather into the “Yahoo! Code” field.

12. Once you are finished customizing the lock screen, select “Save” at the bottom.

13. Your changes are now saved.

14. Respring your device.

15. The changes will now display on your lock screen!

Simple and easy! There are a few things I like about this mod and one feature I would love to see. What I like about it is that it is simple, clean and easy to customize. I also like that you can change the clock text to anything you would like it to say! Lastly, I like that you can choose whatever background you would like behind the mod. The one feature I would still like to see is that when you select the color in the settings, it would change the slider to that color as well. Right now, the slider stays red. I can’t help it… I have an addiction to uniformity! Overall, another sweet mod by Andy9l.

Change the Font Color and Style for LockInfo

Lockinfo White Text is a mod that changes the font color and style for LockInfo (a feature-packed lock screen mod). Normally, on LockInfo, the title font is white and the rest of the text is gray. This mod changes all the text to white and italicizes the title font to help differentiate between the title and the rest of the text. This mod would come in handy if you have a lock screen background that makes it difficult to read the gray text. Overall the mod worked exactly how I expected it to. I was able to activate and deactivate it without a problem.

The mod can be activated/deactivated using WinterBoard and is available via the BigBoss source. Check out the screenshots below.

Brilho – WinterBoard Theme

Brilho is a WinterBoard theme that contains 34 icons (some of which are alternative icons), a wallpaper, a lock screen background, folders mod and an icon template (a .psd file). The mod for the folders is pretty cool and overall the theme is decently well designed. Check out the screenshots below. You can get Brilho via the BigBoss source.

How to Install a Theme:

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the BigBoss installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Brilho in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Brilho Theme.

MiDarkTheme – WinterBoard Theme

MiDarkTheme is a dark theme (obviously) that contains 36 icons, a dock, status bar, lockscreen background, wallpaper, SMS mod, Safari mod, Phone mod, pop-up mod, Calculator mod, badges, page dots… etc. Overall it is a decently designed theme. There are a few things that could be a little cleaner… like the Safari loading mod but overall it’s not too bad. You can get MiDarkTheme via the modmyi source.

Note: There is no Stocks icon for this theme.

How to Install a Theme:

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the modmyi installed in Cydia.
3. Search for MiDarkTheme in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the MiDarkTheme Theme.

MatteFusionGZ – WinterBoard Theme

MatteFusionGZ is a simple and clean WinterBoard theme that contains 70 matte icons, a dock, status bar and badge. There are a few things to note about this theme.

The SMS icon is labeled incorrectly so the themed icon does not display when you active the theme in WinterBoard. To change this, you can ssh into (or use iFile on your device) the /library/Themes/MatteFusionGZ/Icons folder and rename Text.png to Messages.png. It will then display the themed SMS icon.

If you are into the modding scene, the theme does contain a few extra wallpapers as well as an 36 additional icons in a folder titled “more icons.” To take it even further, it also contains a .psd file for the icons.

Also, if you are looking for a lock screen battery that matches the little better than the stock battery… check out Matte Battery 2.0.

How to Install a Theme:

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)

Acier – WinterBoard Theme [Tutorial]

Acier is a unique WinterBoard theme (based on the concept of an iNav theme… you know, the original theme from back-in-the-day that started all these sweet themes). Below is a list of what you will need to install in order to use the theme correctly and instructions on how to set-up the theme. Check it out.

You will need to install:
1. Five Icon Dock
2. Five-Column SpringBoard (via ModMyi)
3. iC Theme Essentials (via MacCiti)
4. WeatherIcon (via ModMyi)
5. LiveClock (via iSpazio)
6. SpringJumps (via BigBoss)
7. iBlank (via ModMyi)
8. Categories (via BigBoss)

Instructions:
1. Install all of the apps listed above via Cydia.

2. Once everything is installed, open WinterBoard and uncheck everything that is selected in WinterBoard.

3. Open the Categories application and create two folders; Games and Apps. Place all your apps and games into those folder however, make sure you leave out the apps listed below.

Make sure you leave out:
Phone

contacts
weather

app store

4. Open the iBlank application and create 52 blank icons, each page has 13 blank icons apiece.

5. Open the SpringJumps application, go into the Jump Icons option and turn off pages 5-8, leaving pages 0-4 on.

6. Place springjumps 0-4 on your dock.

7. Arrange the icons and blank icons like the screen shots you see below.

8. Once all your icons are arranged correctly, open WinterBoard and select the Acier theme. Voilà, you have a sweet new theme.
