Meebo has released it’s official app in the App Store. If you are not familiar with Meebo, it is a web based Instant Messaging client that allows you to connect to just about any IM service.

Sticking to Meebo’s simple and sleek style, the iPhone app is just that… simple and sleek (and not to mention pretty quick!). Once you have signed in, you can quickly navigate through your buddy list. Chatting is easy and totally awesome with push notifications!!

In the Account options, you have the ability to change your status, view your accounts and add additional services (there is an extensive list of services available… see list below). Though, I did find Skype Chat missing from the list of available services.

A few cool features of the app are the ability to search the chat history and the ability to quickly switch between chat conversations by swiping left and right.

Overall if you are looking for something simple and snappy… meebo just might be the app for you! Not to mention it’s free! Check out the App Store Description below for the full list of features for the app.

Yesterday iSpazio added a ton of SMS mods in Cydia. So, I spent some time (ok, WAY too much time) installing and taking screenshots of them all. Until now there were only a few SMS bubble mods but, now there are quite a few you can choose from. So, take a look below and see if there are any you like.

Also, if for some reason you like the SMS bubble colors but you do not like the wallpaper, you can easily change the wallpaper via SSH. The SMS mods folders are located in the – /Library/Themes folder. Once you are in the Themes folder, you can find the folder with the title of the SMS mod (ex; BirdSMS) and select it. Inside the BirdSMS folder there will be an SMSBackground.png. You can then replace that file with the wallpaper you would like to have instead. Just make sure the file is spelled and capitalized exactly the same as SMSBackground.png.

There are quite a few mods in WinterBoard today and I want to mention a few…one of which I am excited to tell the ladies about!! I always try to post about any mods that are aimed toward us females, only because there are not a ton of them and so it is nice to know about the few there are. Well, I honestly have not found that I am overly impressed with but, I really like a new theme called KillSignCarbonPink the other mods are titled; Sun and Moon SMS, Icon Shadow and Icon Glow.

KillSignCarbonPink is a very complete theme. It contains icon, slider bar, keyboard, dialer, wallpaper, system, badges, SMS Bubbles, loading screens, battery and many more mods. It is pretty clean and nicely put together. There are a few things I’m not huge on but overall, a decent theme you will want to check out. The next mod is an SMS mod. It changes your SMS Bubble to an yellow and a pearl color. The yellow sms bubbles have have a star and the pearl have a moon. It also has a star wallpaper. It sounds like it could be cheesy but, it is actually a decent design.

The last two mods are Icon Shadow and Icon Glow. These two mods affect your icon labels. If you have Kate, you already have the ability to do these two mods but, if you do not have Kate these might be useful for you. Icon Shadow adds a shadow behind your icon labels which comes in handy when you have a light colored wallpaper. Icon Glow will add a glow behind your icon labels for when you have a darker colored background…though, it does turn your icons white and then adds the glow. Also, I cannot get either mod to affect the dock icon labels. Even when I select the dock icon labels option. But, they could still come be useful for your SpringBoard icons.

There were are quite a few mods via Steffwiz’s Source in Cydia today. I thought I would touch on a few of them. I just had a person email me yesterday asking if I knew of any SMS bubbles that were available in Cydia and then today there were some! Steffwiz has released both Purple and Auqa SMS bubbles. I know there are more than that in Cydia but, for the life of me I can’t remember the titles of the packages. If you know of any…let me know in the comments.


There is also a mod by Steffwiz called Glowing Page Dots. This changes your dots at the bottom of your SpringBoard to black except the one that indicates the page you are on (see screenshot below). Another mod that I thought sounded interesting was the Black SpringBoard Battery but, I couldn’t get it to work.

This instant messanger application connects you to many services including AOL’s AIM, Google Talk, Yahoo! Messenger, Gadu Gadu, ICQ, Jabber, Apple’s iChat and Windows Live Messenger. Not only does it support text based chat, it also supports sending images and voice messages. It puts all of your online contacts together with their service’s icon next to their name. It’s pretty simple to use although I type pretty fast and the keyboard lagged just a bit and caused some spelling errors.

The sound for a new message is sweet. It kinda sounds like the ringer on the phones at CTU on the TV show 24. It’s much shorter though and not annoying. You can switch through chat sessions via the little mailbox in the bottom left. You can change your away status in the bottom right. There is also the feature to create a chat group. I think it only works among other Palringo users. You can also get Palringo for your Mac or Windows PC. Visit palringo.com for more info.

Over all it’s a pretty sweet app and I can’t wait for the background push service to work with this. There wouldn’t really be a need for AOL IM if you have this. That way you can chat with all clients at once. I was only able to run, AOL, Yahoo, MSN and GTalk. I don’t have the other accounts so let me know in the comments if you got logged in ok!

My only complaint is the sound effects. The current sound is a little annoying and once a sound is made my audio becomes all muffled.
