It has been a few days since I have been able to catch up on iPhone news, as those of you who follow Doug or my Twitter know (ahhyeah and bporter), I’m not feeling well lately! Well today, I was taking a look at the list of 25 top free apps and was suprised to see one that I was very familiar with…Earth3D. Well, I installer Earth3D however, when I went to open it, it just crashed back to the SpringBoard. So, I decided to go try another application…which crashed as well. This is on my personal iPhone (not one of our test iPhones) so, it only has the AppStore and is not jailbroken. I did notice that I was having some issues last night while recording our video podcast but didn’t think anything of it. Well, it seems that ALL my AppStore apps are crashing, not a single app will stay open. So, after trying a few fixes, wishing my iPhone was jailbroken so I had SSH access and finally giving up…I ended up restoring. And like Doug, will be jailbreaking my 2.0.1 firmware using WinPwn 2.0.0.4. I’m curious to know if anyone else has had this problem and if you were able to fix it or ended up restoring.

One is called MobileNuker. It’s a pretty simple app that allows you to crash a windows machine by entering it’s IP address. Here’s a video of it working:

Watch “MobileNuker” from your iPhone or iPod Touch

You can download the app at the Google code link below and SSH it onto your iPhone. Pretty sure it only works on 1.1.4 and below based on the last time the code was edited. I tried it on my 3G and it wasn’t good…

code.google.com/p/mobilenuker/

You can see more about the app at the developer’s website here: steventroughtonsmith.blogspot.com

Today, I was just waiting for some CDs to copy and I decided to browse Installer.app to see if there was anything I wanted to install. I found a couple add-ons for Customize (from non-standard sources) and then I found a ringtone called CTU, from the TV show 24. I had it installed before but forgot that I was on v1.0.3 at the time. I remember reading that v1.1.1 changed how ringtones worked and that older ringtone apps wouldn’t work. So, basically I crashed my iPhone. Here is a video of what it looked like.
