Over the week-end WeatherIcon, a mod that displays the current temperature and weather conditions in the Weather icon, received two updates. The first, version 2.2.5, made the application compatible with the 3.1 firmware… which I know many of you have been waiting for! The second update, version 2.2.6, fixed a bug that when you turned the weather icon part of the mod off in the Settings, the Weather icon would go blank. Below is the exact change log.

Note: Due to some odd 3.1 dpkg behavior, I had to remove the LockInfo WeatherIcon theme from this package so that I could get the fix out as fast as possible. I will release the theme separately.

Yesterday, there was an update to the WeatherIcon mod… a mod that displays the current temperature and weather conditions on your Weather icon or Statusbar. The update, “Fixed incompatibility with Battery Control when both the battery and percentage are hidden.”

Battery Control is an application that provides additional Statusbar battery options. I personally don’t think I experienced this bug but, if you did, now there is a fix for it!

The WeatherIcon mod was recently update to version 2.1.16. The update doesn’t make any visual change to the mod itself but, it does add a description of the Override Location feature in the Settings for the app. The update also adds compatibility with LockInfo and includes a bug fix. See the full change log below. You can get this update to WeatherIcon via the modmyi source.

- Added LockInfo Plugin. No Themes yet, but this will allow for integration with LockInfo.
- Cleared up instructions in the settings.
- Fixed another possible “in call” issue that would mess up incoming calls if a phone is plugged in.

Yesterday, there an update was release for the WeatherIcon mod. The update is through the modmyi source. It doesn’t make any changes to the mod however, it does replace the mod via the david.ashman.com source. I’m not sure if David has moved his mod to the modmyi source or if the update to the app mistakenly overwrites the david.ashman.com mod. Doug said he had a little bit of trouble with the update on his iPhone 3GS, he had to unisntall and reinstall it…then it worked. I didn’t have any issues with the update on an iPhone 3G running 3.0.

If you install the modmyi update, it will overwrite and the david.ashman.com mod and you cannot revert back to it. WeatherIcon will not even display an as app in the david.ashman.com source.

There have been a few updates to the WeatherIcon mod since the last time I wrote about it. The updates were mostly bug fixes but, the update to 2.1.14 caught my eye. The update says, “This release “should” fix issues that people were seeing with phones running on EDGE that had incoming call issues. I got reports of problems with calls being dropped, no audio, and other oddities. This release should handle that more gracefully.”

Ok, seriously, I have been wondering why my iPhone was being so crazy lately. People would call and I couldn’t answer or it would answer and there would be no sound or I would try to make a call and it would be dead air. It was really starting to drive Doug crazy and he was going to restore my iPhone today but, I am going to give this a try first. I will have to test it for a while and let you know how it goes. Let me know in the comments if you notice a change.

LiveClock has been updated to version 0.4. Before the update, the LiveClock mod worked but, it was a little weird…when you first installed it, it would display six hands instead of three and you would have to tap at the very bottom of the Clock icon to open the stock Clock application. Well, the update fixes these problems. I no longer had a problem with the mod displaying six hands and the Clock application opens normally.

The update also says that it fixes the “digital clock digits disappearing at 00.” Overall, the update seems to work great! I am actually going to leave it enabled now! You can get LiveClock via the iSpazio source.

Note: LiveClock is enabled/disabled via WinterBoard.

The WeatherIcon mod has had quite a few updates going from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.9 (below are all the change logs). I found that the updates have the mod working very nicely….even in conjunction with the Status Bar date mod via SBSettings. Let us know in the comments if you are still having issues with this mod.

I have had quite a few people asking me about the LiveClock mod (a mod that displays the current time on your Clock icon) and whether or not it works on the 3.0 firmware….the answer is, yes!

The first time you install the mod, it will be over the top of your Stock icon which makes it look weird because it will have two hour, minute and second hands. All you need to do is go into WinterBoard and disable LiveClock. Your iPhone and/or iPod Touch will respring. Now, go back into WinterBoard and uncheck the LiveClock Disabled option…your device will respring again and voilà you will have the LiveClock mod (working correctly). You can get this mod via the iSpazio source.

There was another update to the WeatherIcon mod. The updated says that it adds “more 3.0 compatibility.” When I tested it, I was able to enable the Status Bar Image and Temp but, they are not aligned correctly. They are too high on the Status Bar and are only partially visible.

The update does make the app compatible with the 2.2 firmware again. When I installed the update on an iPhone running 2.2, it did not go into Safe Mode and both the Icon and Status Bar worked correctly. So, you should be safe to install it now.

I’m sure we will see an update in the near future that fixes the Status Bar alignment issue on the 3.0 firmware. Keep up the good work David!

The WeatherIcon mod (a mod that allows the current temperature and weather conditions to be displayed on your weather icon) has been updated to version 2.1.2 which allows it to work on the 3.0 firmware. The status bar part of the mod still is not working on 3.0 but, at least the icon part of the mod is!

When I first installed WeatherIcon, on my iPhone running 3.0, it went into safe mode. I restarted the SpringBoard again, as prompted by the safe mode pop-up, and it worked fine. The same thing happened when I updated the mod on an iPhone running 2.2 firmware as well (safe mode, restarted, worked fine).

I was actually glad to see that David updated this mod…it is one of my favorites! Remember, WeatherIcon is now controlled via your stock Settings application and not WinterBoard. You can get this mod in the david.ashman.com source.

WARNING: When I went to change some thing in the Settings of WeatherIcon, on firmware 2.2, the iPhone went into continuous Safe Mode. I had to go into Cydia (in Safe Mode) and uninstall the app…which then fixed the problem (but rearranged all my Apps…which is weird!). If you are on firmware 2.x….I would not suggest upgrading!
