IconMaker – Create Custom Icons From Your iPhone

IconMaker is a pretty cool application that allows you to quickly create custom icons right from your device. It turns images into nice shiny, rounded icons. Personally, this is an awesome application for me. I create icons all the time and now, instead of opening Photoshop on my computer and creating an icon, I can create it right on my iPhone!

When you open the application, there are a few options;

Save to photo library – when turned on, will save a copy of the newly created icon to your Photo Library
Save File – when turned on, will save a copy of the newly created icon to /var/mobile/Library/IconMaker/icon.png on your device
Apply overlay – when turned on, will apply the glossy affect to the newly created icon
Apple shadow – when turned on, will apply a shadow to the bottom of the newly created icon
Open in iFile – when turned on, will open the newly created icon in iFile

Using this application is pretty simple. First, you will need to save the image you would like to turn into an icon into your Camera Roll. There are a few ways you can do this. If you have an application icon you would just like to make look nicer, you can go into iFile, find the application with the icon you would like to modify, find the icon and save the icon to your Camera Roll. If there is an image you want to make into an icon, you can go into Safari on your device and do a Google image search for a square version of the image. To save an image from Safari to your Camera Roll… just tap and hold on the image and then select “Save Image.”

Once you have an image in your Camera Roll, you can go open the ImageMaker application and get started. It’s super easy. Just select the options you would like, tap the camera icon in the top right corner, select the image you save to your Camera Roll and tap Generate icon. Tada! A brand new icon!

Depending on which options you chose… the new icon will now be saved in your Camera Roll or as a file on your device. You can then get the icon off your device by emailing it, SSHing it off, taking it off via USB… etc.

I had no issues when testings this application. It worked great as long as I had an image that was a square. If the image you select is not a square, the newly created icon will look a little distorted. But, if you have a square image… it works just fine.

IconMaker was just updated today to a new version that adds the ability to create an icon for a specific theme. Which was kind of a cool update. You can get IconMaker via the BigBoss source.

EasyRearrange – Quickly Rearrange Icons

EasyRearrange is a hack that allows you to quickly rearrange apps on your SpringBoard. The hack starts like every other rearranging application… by putting your icons into “wiggle” mode so that you are able to move them around your SpringBoard. Now, this is where the application is different from the rest, you then tap the icon you would like to move. This will suspend the icon allowing you to scroll to the page you would like the icon moved to. So, instead of dragging the icon from one page to the next page to the next page until you are on the page you would like… the icon stays put and the pages move behind it. Then, just tap the Home button and the icon will drop onto that page.

READ THIS: This would actually be a decent hack except that it doesn’t work very well. I think there have only been a few times in which I have been able to get it to work successfully. Every other time I tested it… it put my SpringBoard into Safe Mode. I tested it multiple times, restarted my device, reinstalled the app and still got the same results… Safe Mode. Also, you are not able to scroll through pages while in “wiggle” mode which means you have to tap next to the page dots to go to the next or previous page. Not a huge deal, but slightly inconvenient. There were a few other quirks I found with the hack as well. Honestly, I would say pass on this one for now. Maybe we will see an update that will make some improvements.

If you do want to give it a try… it is available via the BigBoss source. It does not have an icon or any settings. To remove the hack, you would need to uninstall it in Cydia.

Snowman Theme – WinterBoard Theme

Snowman theme isn’t your typical Christmas theme… it’s more of a subtle Christmas feel. The theme contains around 35 custom icons however it has an icon mask which means it actually themes all icons (except Web Clips). It also contains a lock screen background, dock, wallpaper, sms background, Folders mod… etc. You can get Snowman Theme via the modmyi source. I’m still looking for the perfect Christmas theme. A Christmas Theme – WinterBoard Theme

A Christmas Theme is a Christmas theme that is chalked full of mods. A few of them include; an animated falling snow lock screen, an animated fireplace wallpaper, a decent amount of icons, SMS mod, Phone mod, Safari mod, some UI mods, badges… etc. This theme is titled Christmas_Theme in WinterBoard. You will also want to select both the No Docked Icon Labels and No Undocked Icon Labels options in WinterBoard. You can get A Christmas Theme via the BigBoss source.

MultiIconMover Updated – Now Compatible with iOS 4.2.1

MultiIconMover, a hack that allows you to move more than one icon at a time, has been updated in cydia to 1.0.0-1. The major part of the update is that the app is now compatible with iOS 4.2.1 (full changelog below). I actually find this app quite useful, though I would love to see the ability to move multiple apps into folders! Maybe the next update! NoWiggle – Stop Icon Wiggling While In “Move” Mode

NoWiggle is a hack that keeps your icons from wiggling while in “move” mode. There used to be a hack in Cydia called WiggleFree that did the exact same thing but that app is no longer available so if you are looking for a similar hack… NoWiggle is the app for you. Like WiggleFree… the process is simple and easy, just install the application and no more wiggling icons! This means that when you tap and hold an icon so that they can be moved around your SpringBoard, they will no longer wiggle. You will know you are in “move” mode when the icons display an x in the upper right corner. You get out of “move” mode just like normal, by pressing the Home Button. You can get NoWiggle via the BigBoss source.

Note: This hack does not add an icon or have any settings once it has been installed. It just activates automatically when you install it in Cydia. To get your “wiggle” back… you would need to uninstall the app in Cydia

Infinifolders, Add Unlimited Apps to Folders, Updated

Infinifolders, one of my absolute “must-have” hacks that allows the ability to add unlimited apps into a folder, has been updated to version 1.3-1. There isn’t an official change log but I’m guessing it has to do with compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 or maybe it adds the much awaited iPad support (which I can’t test because Doug has taken the iPad hostage!)! If you haven’t checked out this app yet… it’s worth a look and worth the $1.99 price tag. You can get Infinifolders via the BigBoss source.

Brilho – WinterBoard Theme

Brilho is a WinterBoard theme that contains 34 icons (some of which are alternative icons), a wallpaper, a lock screen background, folders mod and an icon template (a .psd file). The mod for the folders is pretty cool and overall the theme is decently well designed. Check out the screenshots below. You can get Brilho via the BigBoss source.

How to Install a Theme:

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the BigBoss installed in Cydia.
3. Search for Brilho in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the Brilho Theme.

Sleek Elite HD – SBSettings Theme

Sleek Elite HD is a theme for SBSettings (an application that allows you to quickly toggle settings on your device). There are two things I really like about this theme; it’s well designed and it has 31 icons. I’m pretty sure that covers about ever toggle available for SBSettings! Check out the screenshots below. You can get Sleek Elite HD via the modmyi source.

Note: Once you have installed an SBSetting theme from Cydia, you will need to go into SBSetting and select the More option and then the SBSettings Theme option where you can then select the theme you would like.

MiDarkTheme – WinterBoard Theme

MiDarkTheme is a dark theme (obviously) that contains 36 icons, a dock, status bar, lockscreen background, wallpaper, SMS mod, Safari mod, Phone mod, pop-up mod, Calculator mod, badges, page dots… etc. Overall it is a decently designed theme. There are a few things that could be a little cleaner… like the Safari loading mod but overall it’s not too bad. You can get MiDarkTheme via the modmyi source.

Note: There is no Stocks icon for this theme.

How to Install a Theme:

1. Your device must be jailbroken. (how?)
2. Make sure you have WinterBoard installed via Cydia.
2. Make sure you have the modmyi installed in Cydia.
3. Search for MiDarkTheme in Cydia, run the install.
4. Open WinterBoard and activate the MiDarkTheme Theme.
