VideosTone 1.3

The update to version 1.3 of VideosTone adds a few new abilities to the application. The app is now able to detect system vibrations which means, if you have your iPhone set to vibrate when you receive a call, VideosTone now recognizes that and your iPhone will vibrate even when VideosTone is enabled. The same is also true for the silence switch. VideosTone now detects the silence switch which means you are able to silent the ringer while a video ringtone is playing. The iPod volume settings are now also able to be detected by VideosTone. One thing I am really glad to see with this update is that VideosTone is now compatible with Kate!! That is huge for me. Also, there has been an additional video ringtone added in the Video section. Other than that, the application functions the same an in the previous version. VideosTone vs. vWallpaper

Quite a few people have been asking what the difference is between, VideosTone and vWallpaper. Below is a breakdown of both the applications (the numbers are corresponding).

VideosTone
1. Ability to set a video ringtone for all incoming calls or you can choose video ringtones for specific contacts
2. You can preview the videos before selecting them
3. Ability to set both the audio ringtone and video ringtone
4. You have to manually SSH in more videos to be used as ringtones (comes with one default video ringtone)
5. Shows up as an option in your stock Settings app on you iPhone
6. Free
7. Available through iFoneTec Source

vWallpaper
1. If you set a video ringtone…that is the ringtone for all incoming calls
2. You can only see the file names of the videos
3. Can select only a video…whatever audio is with that video is what is used as the ringtone
4. You can download more videos to be used as ringtones from within the application
5. Shows up as an application on iPhone’s SpringBoard
6. Free
7. Available through Skrew source

VideosTone 1.2

The update to version 1.2 of VideosTone makes the Personalize Settings option available without purchasing the application…which is cool! The Personalize Settings option allows you to apply Video Ringers to select contacts. When you choose the Personalize Settings option, you will see the Select a Person field…this will allow you to choose a contact from your Contact List. Once you have selected a contact, you can then select a phone number for that contact. It will automatically bring you back to the Personalize Settings screen and the contact’s Name and Number will be automatically added to the Name and Mobile fields.

You can then choose the RingTone and Video you would like to apply for that contact. Another cool new feature with the update, is when you select a video, it will play a preview of that video. This helps in knowing exactly what video you are choosing. Once all the information is entered (Name, Mobile, RingTone, Video) you can go back to the Main Menu by selecting VideosTone in the upper left corner. To customize another contact’s ringtone, just go back into the Personalize Settings field and repeat the steps. The only confusing part about this whole process is that it does not list which contacts you have changed. If you want to delete a contact’s VideosTone, you have to remember which contact it is, pull it up with the Select a Person field, select the correct number, scroll down and select Delete this Contact VideosTone. I have a feeling this could get confusing very quickly. You can get VideosTone through the iFoneTec source.
