Labyrinth is about to release an update which includes sound effects which was the most requested feature. They sound pretty realistic. Check out the video for a demo. Look for the update to be released soon in the App Store.

If you had a jailbroke iPhone, this application will feel very familiar. It is basically the Installer version of the application ported to 2.0 and added to the App Store. The Lite Edition of Labyrinth gives you ten levels to play (which is basically enough to get you totally addicted…forcing you to upgrade to the full version ). The full version of the application is $6.99. When you open Labyrinth, you will get the main screen with three options on the lower menu bar; Play, Settings and Credits. In the Settings option you have the ability to turn on/off the Game time limit and the ability to Calibrate your iPhone. To get back to the main menu, select Back in the lower left corner.

To start the application, select Play on the lower menu bar. Here you will see that only one level pack is available with the Lite Version of the application. When you select the Level Pack, it will bring you directly into the first level of the game. The object of the game is to get the silver ball to the checkered ball without falling in the holes by tilting your iPhone. When you are in the game, you can tap the screen to bring up the controls which allow you to go back to the Level Pack screen by selecting the Home icon, go to the next level or go back to a previous level. When you finish you will get a screen displaying which level you passed and the amount of time it took for you to pass the level. You then have the option to go to the next level or go back to the Level Pack screen.

I find the controls to be really nice and very accurate (as they were with the Installer version of the application). I do feel like the ball bounces a little more than it previously did but, maybe that is just me over analyzing! Overall, this is a really fun, highly addicting game. Definitely worth checking out!

Back on the Levels menu, if you select a level you will see a screen that displays the Global Best Time, the Local Best Time (that is you) and an option to Play This Level. Once you have completed a level, you will get a pop-up with the options; Restart Level, Back to Results and Next Level. If you go back to results, your score will be in the Local Best Time. You can watch the replay of the game by selecting it. You can also sync your time by selecting Sync in the upper right corner. This will add your time to the database…if you have the fastest time, it will show up on other people iPhone’s when they Synchronize their results. It is pretty cool! Once you have selected a Level Pack, you can select a level within that pack. When you select a level you will get three options, Play This Level, View Best Time Replay and Rename Local Player. The View Best Replay option will not be available until you have beat that level at least once. Once you have, it will show you a replay of that game…it is pretty cool (you can see all the avialable replays by selecting the Replays option on the lower menu bar). The Rename Local Player option allows to change your name form the Anonymous which comes stock. the Play This Level option will bring you to the play screen. In the play screen, you can tilt your iPhone to move the ball. You can tap on the upper part of the screen to get a menu bar with the options; Level and Next. The Level Option will bring you back out to the main level menu. The Next option will bring you to the next level.

When you win, you will get a pop-up with the options; Restart Level, View results and Next Level. The View Results option will bring you back out to the main level menu. I personally get totally addicted to these type of games! The accelerometer seems to be programmed very nicely in this application. There are times when I feel like it lags a little but overall it is not too bad. You can get SpeedRun from the iPlayful source.
