Side Note: Like always, the instructions might look long but that is only because I explain every little step.

Instructions:
1. Install Analock HD from Cydia (it is in the BigBoss source).

2. Go into WinterBoard and activate AnalockHD.

3. Turn off any other lock screen mods… such as LockInfo.

4. Open Safari.

5. Type the following URL into Safari – file:///Library/Themes/AnalockHD.theme/config.html. This needs to be typed exactly. Or, if you are on your iOS device, just click on the link.

6. Set the URL as a bookmark. This is done by tapping the + icon at the bottom of Safari and selecting the “Add Bookmark” option.

7. In Safari, go to weather.yahoo.com and search for the weather you would like displayed on the lock screen. Example) St. Paul, MN

8. Once the specific weather page has loaded in Yahoo Weather, go into the URL and copy the number at the end of the URL. Example) http://weather.yahoo.com/united-states/minnesota/st.-paul-2487129/… you would copy the bold numbers in the example.

9. In Safari, open the bookmark for the theme settings that you created in step 6.

10. Choose your settings. This lock screen has a decent amount of settings including; the ability to choose a, clock type, color, temp unit, update times, clock text… etc.

11. Paste the number you copied from Yahoo Weather into the “Yahoo! Code” field.

12. Once you are finished customizing the lock screen, select “Save” at the bottom.

13. Your changes are now saved.

14. Respring your device.

15. The changes will now display on your lock screen!

Simple and easy! There are a few things I like about this mod and one feature I would love to see. What I like about it is that it is simple, clean and easy to customize. I also like that you can change the clock text to anything you would like it to say! Lastly, I like that you can choose whatever background you would like behind the mod. The one feature I would still like to see is that when you select the color in the settings, it would change the slider to that color as well. Right now, the slider stays red. I can’t help it… I have an addiction to uniformity! Overall, another sweet mod by Andy9l.

The only issue I have noticed with this mod is that when the time is 10:_ _ the time doesn’t fit correctly. The developer has been pretty good about updating this app so hopefully we will see an update that fixes this issue.

SwitcherPlus is a mod that adds the ability to use the multitasking dock from your lock screen. Once the app has been installed in Cydia, you are able to use the complete functionality of multitasking from your lock screen.

If you do not have a passcode set for your device, and you select an application from the multitasking dock while on the lock screen, it will automatically take you from the lock screen directly into that application. If you do have a passcode, and you select an application from the multitasking dock while on the lock screen, it will require you to enter your passcode and then will bring you directly into the application you selected.

I did notice that after you select an app from the multitasking dock (while on the lock screen), the passcode keyboard disappears pretty quickly. So, you will want to start typing in your passcode as soon as the keyboard appears or it will disappear and you will have to go back into multitasking and select your app again. Hopefully this will be fixed with an update. NOTE: This can actually be changed in the app’s settings. If you go into the Lock Screen Mode option and then the Dim after dismiss option… you can increase the time before the screen dims and thus the keyboard disappears.

Other than that, the app seems to work correctly. It also plays nice with the Direct Closer mod. You can get SwitcherPlus via the BigBoss source.

Update: When you install SwitcherPro, it will put an icon on your SpringBoard. This is where all the Settings for the app are located. There are quite a few settings… be sure to check them out. One cool settings worth noting is that when you put the multitasking apps into “wiggle mode” there is now an arrow on each app. If you select an arrow, it will remove that app and all the app’s to the right of it. It is a quick way to clear your multitasking dock. You can turn this feature off in the settings… it is the Kill Prior option.

Now, as cool as this battery is, it does require some ssh work. The mod is packaged incorrectly so when you activate it via WinterBoard… nothing happens. In order to get the mod to work you will need to ssh into the /Library/Themes/MatteBattery folder. Here you will see a folder and a file… both are titled com.apple.springboard. The problem is that these need to be in a folder titled Bundles. So, in the /Library/Themes/MatteBattery folder, you will need to create a new folder titled Bundles. Then drag both the com.apple.springboard folder and the file into your newly created Bundles folder. Respring your device and the battery mod will work correctly.

I don’t know about you guys but it seems like FOREVER since we wrote that the Element lockscreen concept was going to become reality. Well, it looks as though it has finally made it’s way into Cydia. A few days ago, I was perusing (yes, perusing) Cydia and to my astonishment what did I see… Element. At first I thought it was a theme or maybe some random look-a-like but after some further exploration I found it to be the real deal. However, I’m going to warn you right away, don’t get too excited this is definitely a first release.

The lockscreen was released in Cydia as a cydget. For those of you who do not know what Cydget is, it is “framework for managing lock screen plugins.” Which means, like most cydgets, it runs a little slow. Once you install the app (you will also want to install the Cydget ‘app’ if you do not already have it installed), you will then need to go into your stock Settings application under the Cydget option and tap on Element to activate it on your loackscreen. Once you have done that, you can go into your stock Settings and find the Element option where you will see some basic Setting for the Element lockscreen.

In the Settings for Element you have the ability to allows the options on the lockscreen to expand/contract by tapping on the header (a must for me). You will also find some basic settings for each option on the lockscreen; Weather, Missed Calls, Calendar Events, Unread Emails, SMS, Facebook and Stocks.

Now, a few things about how the lockscreen actually runs. It’s slow… pretty slow. I also noticed that it doesn’t update extrememly accurately. The weather tends to be decently close to correct as well as the Calendar and Text Messages. However, I did find the Email, Facebook and Missed Calls can be a little behind. It can also be a little confusing because it will list your last three missed calls whether you have already seen them or not. However if it is a new missed call, that you haven’t seen, it will be highlighted yellow. The same is true for text messages.

The lockscreen does have a few other useful options such as the ability to swipe on a missed call and call that number directly from your lockscreen. You can also tap on a text message and it will open your stock text messaging application to that specific text message. There is a catch. If you have a passcode on your device, you are still able to ‘swipe to call’ which opens your stock phone application without having to enter the passcode. It does bring you back out to the lockscreen once the call is finished but, if you are a stickler on security, you may want to turn off the Allow Dialing option in the Settings. The text message tap does not work if you have a passcode on your device… even if you have the option turned on in the Settings.

One of my favorite features in the ability to tap on the weather widget on the lockscreen and have it switch between the cities you have set-up in the stock Weather application (this works best if the AutoRotrate option is turned off in the Settings).

Overall, I love the look of the lockscreen. It gives me the basic information I am looking for in a lockscreen mod and it runs pretty smoothly. Now, if we could just get it to load faster… like a lot faster.

LockInfo, a feature-packed lock screen mod, was updated to version 1.1.8. The update includes a fix and a new “feature.” With the new version, the lock screen auto dim is reset when you touch the lock screen so the lock screen will no longer go dim while you are viewing LockInfo! I have actually been waiting for this exact “feature!” Below is the full change log.

Remember, LockInfo can be used in conjunction with Cydget and is available via the modmyi source.

- Fixed an issue where preference updates were not being picker up in a timely fashion.
- LockInfo will not restart your dim timer when you touch the screen. This we using LockInfo from going blank when you are using LockInfo.

TwitLock is a Cydget that allows you to tweet from your lock screen. Once installed, you can activate it via the stock Settings application under the Cydget.

After you have activated the Cydget, you will need to go to your lock screen. The first time you view TwitLock on your lock screen you are prompted to sign into your twitter account. After you have successfully signed in you are able to post a tweet right from your lock screen.

Currently the app is pretty basic… it only supports tweeting however, the developer says he will continue to add features.

Like most Cydgets this one also has some lag while trying to sign in and while typing a tweet but, the actually tweet is sent very quickly and with basically no lag. You can get TwitLock via the BigBoss source.

WikiSearch is a Cydget that allows the ability to search Wikipedia right from your lock screen.

Once installed, you can go into the stock Settings application under Cydget and enable WikiSearch. You will then be able to search Wikipedia directly from your lock screen. To search, just tap on the search bar and type in your search term(s). It will display the mobile version of Wikipedia on your lock screen. You are able to scroll through the page, click on links, view images… etc. You are not able to zoom in on the page but other than that, it has most of the functionality you would normally have.

I did find this Cydget to be a little laggy (though, I find most Cydgets to be a little laggy). I also am not a big fan of the wallpaper for the Cydget… I feel it a bit classier if the background of Apps/Cydgets are neutral with no particular theme. You can get WikiSearch via the modmyi source.

Note: If you would like to change the background image for the WikiSearch Cydget, you can do so by sshing in and dragging a new image into the /System/Library/LockCydgets/WikiSearch.cydget folder. Just rename the image to LockBackground.jpg. Make sure you change it to .jpg!

Last week I wrote about Cydget, a “framework for managing lock screen plugins.” Over the week-end there were a few Cydgets (like Widgets for Cydget) released that are pretty decent.

The first is HTC Hero Cydget. This Cydget includes the current Time, Temperature and Weather Conditions. Once you have installed the Cydget, you will need to go into the stock Settings application under Cydget and activate it. I did find that this particular Cydget does not display immediately on the lock screen, there is a slight delay. (strike)Though, it does know your current time and weather info without having to edit a .plist which is nice. (/strike)

The second cydget is LockLight Cydget. This is basically a flashlight Cydget. It displays a completely white screen at full brightness. I don’t know about you guys but, I actually use my iPhone as a flashlight quite often! So, to have it available from the lock screen comes in handy for me.

Both the HTC Hero and the LockLight Cydgets are available via the modmyi source.

Remember, Cydgets can be used at the same time as the LockInfo mod and other lock screen mods as long as they are compatible with SBAwayViewPlugins.

Another Reminder, you toggle through all your activated Cydgets by pressing the Home Button while on your lock screen (Quick Dismiss still works with Cydget). You can reorder your Cydgets in the stock Settings application under Cydget.

NOTE: Do not activate only the LockLight Cydget!! You will not be able to “slide to unlock” your device. If you activate the LockLight Cydget be sure to have another one activated as well.

[UPDATE]
Ok, so apparently the app is not pulling in the specific weather info for your location. Below is a quick tutorial on how to update the info for it works correctly for your location. This does require ssh.

How to set-up the HTC Hero Cydget
1. SSH into your device

2. Locate the /System/Library/LockCydgets/HTCHero.cydget/Private folder.

3. Open the ConfigureMe.js file.
*You may need to save it to your computer before you are able to open it. This can be done by simply dragging the file onto your desktop.

4. This is what the ConfigureMe.js file will look like:

9. If you would like the temperature on your lock screen to display in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit, you will need to change the var isCelsius to true instead of false (true = Celsius, false = Fahrenheit).
