Sublime Lock HD, twitter, Weather
Sublime Lock HD is a nicely designed lock screen mod. The mod displays the current time, date, temperature, weather conditions, twitter feed and has a decent amount of themes to choose from. What I love about this lock screen is that it is SUPER easy to customize… like seriously anyone can do it… there is no coding involved. Below are step-by-step instructions on how to install, activate and customize this lock screen. Side Note: The instructions might look long but that is only because I explain every little step. SwitcherPlus – Adds Multitasking Ability on Lock ScreenSeptember 14, 2010 by Brooke
If you do not have a passcode set for your device, and you select an application from the multitasking dock while on the lock screen, it will automatically take you from the lock screen directly into that application. If you do have a passcode, and you select an application from the multitasking dock while on the lock screen, it will require you to enter your passcode and then will bring you directly into the application you selected. I did notice that after you select an app from the multitasking dock (while on the lock screen), the passcode keyboard disappears pretty quickly. So, you will want to start typing in your passcode as soon as the keyboard appears or it will disappear and you will have to go back into multitasking and select your app again. Hopefully this will be fixed with an update. NOTE: This can actually be changed in the app’s settings. If you go into the Lock Screen Mode option and then the Dim after dismiss option… you can increase the time before the screen dims and thus the keyboard disappears. Element Lockscreen Now Available in Cydia!
The lockscreen was released in Cydia as a cydget. For those of you who do not know what Cydget is, it is “framework for managing lock screen plugins.” Which means, like most cydgets, it runs a little slow. Once you install the app (you will also want to install the Cydget ‘app’ if you do not already have it installed), you will then need to go into your stock Settings application under the Cydget option and tap on Element to activate it on your loackscreen. Once you have done that, you can go into your stock Settings and find the Element option where you will see some basic Setting for the Element lockscreen. After you have activated the Cydget, you will need to go to your lock screen. The first time you view TwitLock on your lock screen you are prompted to sign into your twitter account. After you have successfully signed in you are able to post a tweet right from your lock screen. WikiSearch Cydget – Search Wikipedia from your Lock ScreenNovember 18, 2009 by Brooke
Once installed, you can go into the stock Settings application under Cydget and enable WikiSearch. You will then be able to search Wikipedia directly from your lock screen. To search, just tap on the search bar and type in your search term(s). It will display the mobile version of Wikipedia on your lock screen. You are able to scroll through the page, click on links, view images… etc. You are not able to zoom in on the page but other than that, it has most of the functionality you would normally have. Cydgets – Time, Weather, Flashlight… [Updated]November 16, 2009 by Brooke
The first is HTC Hero Cydget. This Cydget includes the current Time, Temperature and Weather Conditions. Once you have installed the Cydget, you will need to go into the stock Settings application under Cydget and activate it. I did find that this particular Cydget does not display immediately on the lock screen, there is a slight delay. (strike)Though, it does know your current time and weather info without having to edit a .plist which is nice. Twidget – View Tweets on Lock Screen
Once you have entered your info and activated Twidget via WinterBoard, you can lock your iPhone or iPod Touch. You should see a menu bar with the options; Friends, Own, Replies, Favorite and Refresh. You will also see a bar indicating that your tweets are loading. The first time it took quite a while for my tweets to load acutally, I ended up deactivating and reactivating it in WinterBoard and then it went. Once your tweets load, you are able to view your most recent 10 tweets by your Friends, your own tweets, your @ replies and your favorites. You can also refresh the tweets using the refresh option. Sometimes it refreshed really quickly, other times it took a while….usually it is pretty quick. Read more SweetMail DiscontinuedApril 23, 2009 by Brooke

Lock Calendar Update – Display Calendar Events on Lock Screen
When you install the app, you will notice that the there are is no longer a gray highlight behind the date and that the spacing has been changed so that events are closer together. There are a few other minor aesthetic changes such as a comma after the day in the date. Overall, a nice visual update though, I actually didn’t mind the highlight behind the date in the previous version. Another nice feature of the update are some setting options. Read more HomeScreen2.0 – Lock Screen ModFebruary 6, 2009 by Brooke As many of you know, I am on the hunt for the perfect lock screen mod. In doing some other modding…I ran across HomeScreen2.0 by aldwin on MacThemes2.net. It is a very simple and clean lock screen that displays the current time, date, weather and any missed events (text, call, email…etc). You can also tap on the date to see a month calendar view and you can tap on the weather to see a full week weather forecast. I have been messing with this mod on and off for about a week now and I think I’m finally to a point where I have gotten it to work correctly so, I thought I would pass it along. It does take some ssh work along with some code editing. I will walk you through the steps, if you are willing, give it a try. Read more |
