Many of you may remember an application called moleskine from back in the 1.1.4 and below firmware days! Honestly, it was one of my favorite jailbroke apps! I then wrote about how molskine has been moved to the AppStore as moleskinery. YAY! Well, it seems that moleskinery has been update (now called noteskinery) and with the update has went on sale for a limited time…until the 28th of November. If you have not purchased the app yet due to price…you will want to do it now!

noteskinery and noteskinery+ are note management applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Both applications let users organize their notes in multi-level folders and customize those notes with a wide variation of stylish icons. In addition, noteskinery+ makes use of the iPhone’s built-in camera and microphone function to attach photos and voice recording for each notes.”

If you are thinking that these two apps sound familiar…you are right! Many of you already know that moleskine was one of my favorite jailbreak apps. Well, it seems that it has made it’s way to the App Store in the form of two apps!! They are actually very similar to the jailbreak version of the app. Below is a break-down of both applications; Moleskinery and Moleskinery+.

Moleskinery allows you to create Folders like normal and then create folders and notes inside each folder. If you tap on the folder icon, you are still able to change the icon for the folder. You can choose from Animal, Colours, Elements, Insects, Sports and Water icons for both folders and notes. If you tap on a note icon, you are also still able to email a note.

Moleskinery+ does all the same things as Moleskinery but, also adds the ability to attach a picture or voice recording to a note. Which is really cool….one of my favorite features of moleskine. You can also change the icon for both the picture and audio recording.

Neither application has the accelerometer support that we saw with moleskine however, I wasn’t a huge fan of the accelerometer features anyway. You will also find all the Settings for both Moleskinery and Moleskinery+ in your stock Settings application. When you go into your stock Settings you will see a new option for the Moleskinery application. In the Settings of both applications, you have the ablity to turn on/off Auto-Capitalization, Auto-Correction, adjust the Font Size, choose a Font and the ability to turn on/off Bold Font. Overall, I love these applications. Both work great, are easy to use and are perfect for taking organized notes!

Also, there is no way to email a note that has both a photo and sound attachment. However, the developer has come up with this technique:
1) email note+voice recording
2) moleskine will exit, and launch Mail
3) exit Mail, and launch moleskine
4) attach photo
5) moleskine will exist, and lunch Mail
depending on the order that you want your notes, voice recording(s), photo(s) to show up, you can send and attach files in the order that you wish.

Here is a video showing how to email a note with both a photo and sound attachment.

Another really cool new feature is the ability to add a photo to a note (this is only available if you have purchased the full version). To add a photo, just select the note you would like to add the photo to and then select the record icon at the bottom of the page. This will bring up the multimedia menu. To take a picture, select the camera icon on the left. This will open your camera. You can tap anywhere on the screen to take a picture. Once you are done taking a picture you can tap the lower status bar to go back to the note. You can only add one photo to each note. If you take another picture, it will overwrite the picture you already have for that note.

In adding the photo feature there is also a new theme option that allows you to change the theme of the frame around the photo. The nowea ethno v3, apixel’s textures and abstract themes were all updated to add the frame option to their themes.

Another new feature is the ability to tilt your iPhone, while in the main list of all your folders, to toggle the ability to reorder the list. When you tilt your iPhone, you will get a pop-up that says reordering YES and the status bar will turn red. To turn the reordering off, just tilt your iPhone again. However, after I used this feature, I could no longer add a new folder. I can select Add and I get the pop-up to enter the name of the folder but, the keyboard doesn’t work. It will not type anything. I didn’t have this problem until I used the sort mode. Let me know in the comments if you experienced the same issue.

There was also a bug fix that now allows you to rearrange folder/notes lists that are long and there were a few changes to the credits. Overall, another decent update. moleskine is available through the databinge source.
