Version 0.3.1 of iSlsk fixes a bug a few people were experiencing with version 0.3 of the application. It seems that some people were having a problem with the music freezing while it was importing and therefore never completing the download. I did not have this issue with the previous version so, I cannot tell you for sure that it is fixed. Let me know in the comments if you were experiencing freezing and if the update fixed it for you. The update to version 1.41se of PocketTouch “pays more attention to the way it looks.” I’m not exactly sure what that means but, I did notice the that transition from the Information menu to the main screen has changed…I like it, it makes me laugh. Try it…I guarantee it will make you smile! I also noticed a two other small visual changes; when you pause a song, the play icon is no longer displayed at the top and when you are in the menu the song and artist are displayed at the bottom of the screen. The update to PocketTouch makes only one visual change to the application and that is the addition of a Volume Sensitivity option in the Settings menu. This allows you to choose between three levels of sensitivity; 1, 2 or 3. 1 being the most sensitive and 3 being the least sensitive. 1 is the least sensitive, 2 has twice the sensitivity and 3 has three times the sensitivity of 1. • Completely reworked volume controller. This answers a long time request for more constant volume control while eliminating an anti-deafening safety net I had in place in all previous versions. Incidentally, this method uses much less math, resulting for a more snappier feel to the change. The update to MyMedia adds additional language compatibility. On the main Info screen you will notice six flags representing the language that are supported, they include; French, English, German, Italian and Korean. Another new feature is in the Download section, you will now see a MediaCache options which you then have to select to get the list of files in your media cache. This makes it a little easier to pull the files off.

We have had a request to do a review of version 0.2b of iSlsk, a P2P client. We held off on doing a review so that we could test the update. Well, it worked great on my iPhone! I was able to search, download and import files into my iPod. So, here is a quick overview of how to use this application even though we did a review of the previous version.

I received an email from Skylar, the developer of PocketTouch, giving me some information about the update to PocketTouch. However, lets go over the changes first. The first thing I noticed when opening PocketTouch is that it has a slightly new look, making it even more polished than the previous version. This application may be one of the best applications ever for the iPhone. It allows you access to your pictures and music from your computer streamed over wifi to your iPhone. But, there’s more! Video… not just video, recorded video from Windows Media Center. Not just recorded video, LIVE video streaming from your Windows Media Center PC. There’s more! Live webcams! YouTube! This is another great app. Works great and has purpose. It allows you to stream music from iTunes, Winamp or just any folders you choose to your iPhone or iPod Touch. It only works on wifi but you can be anywhere. So for example I set up the service on a computer at work and can access the music from home. Even better, you can share your music with up to 30 other friends. They just need a Simplify Media account and install their software on your computer. They have it for Mac, Windows and Linux. You can download the software online at simplifymedia.com and the app is available through the Ste source.
I tested this streaming from my desk computer at work which was pulling .mp3s from our backup server of everyone’s iTunes :) It’s on cable internet and I’m at home on DSL. So now when I’m at home or work or anywhere there is wifi I can access all my music without worrying about my iPhone’s 8GB limit. I just need to get a few friends set up with the service and I’ll have tons of music at my finger tips!
