We have had quite a few people emailing us about the game MacMan. Well, I finally got a chance to try it out on my 2.0 jailbreak iPhone. MacMan looks to be the first game developed exclusively for the 2.0 firmware. MacMan was not available on previous versions through the Installer. If you love PacMan, you will love MacMan. When you open the application you will get a splash screen and then you will get instructions to touch the screen to begin (the game is played in landscape mode). This will bring you directly into the game.

The object of the game is to eat all the white dots without getting eaten by the little monsters. To move the little PacMan guy, just tilt your iPhone. I found the controls to be really nice! They seem to respond quickly and accurately! At the top of the screen you will see your current score, your current level and high score. You can pause the game by taping on the screen. Which then allows you to start a new game or continue playing your current game. As you eat all the white dots, it will continue to add more. The levels will go up automatically as you eat more dots. You play until all your lives are gone (you get three). When you do not have any more lives left you will get a Game Over screen. To play again, just tap the screen.

You can not turn the sound affects off but, they are controlled by your iPhone’s main volume so you can turn them down if you would like. There are not a ton of features with this one. You just basically play the game! The only problem I have had with it is that sometimes when I have eaten all the white dots, no more appear! Then it just turns into a game of cat and mouse! But, other than that…it is pretty fun! You can get MacMan through Cydia, it is in the BigBoss source.

3DZapman is basically a 3D version of PacMan. When you open the application, you will get a splash screen and then the info screen. The info screen will give you your device ID and a place to enter your unlock code if you decide to purchase the full app. The full version of the application is $6.99 USD. However, you can play a demo of the app by selecting the Demo option in the lower right corner. The demo version is restricted to one level and has a time limit.

Once you have select Demo, you will then get a screen with the options; Start Game, Options and Credits. In the Options you have the ability to turn on/off the background and music. You can also adjust the volume of the sound affects. To get back to the main menu, select Back. When you select Start Game, you will be brought to the main play screen.

Here you will see your current Score and High Score at the top of the screen. At the bottom of the screen you will see the number of lives you have left, the controls and a back arrow icon. The green back arrow option will end the game. To move your guy, just tap on one of the three arrow controls on the screen…based on which direction you would like to move. The object of the game is to capture all the teal balls without getting eaten by the monster guys. If you capture one of the four green balls, the game turns into almost a night mode affect. While in this affect, you cannot be eaten by the monsters. When you run out of lives or time (the demo version has a time limit) you will get a screen that says something like…Register Now to get 8 additional levels.

This game is not too bad. It took a little practice to get used to the controls and I think the little Pacman guy needs to move faster but, other than that, not too bad. Let me know in the comments if it is something you would spend $6.99USD on. You can get 3DZapman via the ModMyiFone source.
