Gameloft has been releasing tidbits about it’s new racing game Driver for a little while now with no announcement on the exact date that the app would hit the App Store. It seems that today is the day. You can get Driver in the App Store for $6.99. Check out the screenshots, trailer and description below.

Phaze is a 3D racing game. The full version has been available in the App Store for about a month now however, the Lite version was just released.

Navigate the twists and turns of Tau Ceti in your Daemon Industries Delta 4 as you race your opponents in high tech race craft. Aim for the boost pads to achieve warp speed, pick up weapons to blast your opponents and collect power boosts and defensive shields along the way!

Sharpen your reflexes, practice your race skills, and improve your laptimes at 2 difficulty levels in Single Race mode.

The Lite version includes 1 race craft, 1 location and 2 difficulty levels. The full version additionally includes Championship mode, a total of 4 difficulty levels, 15 more locations (with 64 tracks across all difficulties), and a total of 10 race craft (some are unlockable).

This is honestly, in my opinion, the best game in the App Store so far. It’s quality challenges even those of PlayStation One games, which is a break-thru for a game on a mobile device. This game is fairly popular not only on the iPhone, but other mobile devices as well, and have had access to this quadrilogy for years.

Once you open the app, a movie will play. Now it kinda exaggerates the game (it makes it look like a PS2 game!), but it does give attention to the game itself. When that is done, it loads and then brings you to the title screen. Tap the screen to begin your journey.

You first start out with a Mini-Cooper, and one race. There is a total of 28 vehicles and 48 races (with 12 cities). Win races to get money. Racing is really fun and there is three ways to race: The Tap Way (tap the side of the screen to go that way), The Accelerometer Way (move the iphone in the direction you want to turn), and The Wheel Way (move the on-screen wheel the direction you want to turn). In the races, there is Nitrous and Money. To use the nitrous, tap the little lightning bolt above the speedometer (or if you use The Accelerometer Way, just tilt the iphone forward). When you use the nitrous, there is three stages: 1x (Blue), 2x (Orange-Yellow), and 3x (Red). When you use the 3x, it’s easier to take out the other racers. There are 5 types of races:

Race (just a normal race, try to get first place)
Cop Chase (you are a cop, with a mission to take out the racer in the lead)
Cash Attack (I’m not completely sure, but i think you have to get the most money out of the other racers. Correct me if I’m wrong)
Beat ‘em All (take out 6 racers in 3 laps)
Duel (you race one person in 2 laps, try to win)

When you win, you will unlock more races, and car upgrades (stuff that make your car faster and more controllable). There is a progress bar at the bottom that shows your game percentage.

This game is very good, well worth $9.99 and is available in the App Store today. I strongly recommend it to any true gamer (like me) out there who needs a game that lasts more than 1 day. Go buy it!!!
