As I mentioned yesterday, the SBRotator mod (a hack that allows your iPhone to rotate in all 4 possible orientations) now has an SBSettings toggle. The toggle is free if you have already purchased the SBRotator mod. I honestly have been trying since yesterday to get the toggle to install and was finally able to get it today. So, here we go.

The SBSettings toggle allows the ability to turn off/on the actual SBRotator mod. This is a quick and easy way to enable/disable the rotating. When I installed and tested the toggle… it worked perfectly (I did have to respring after launching SBSettings, going into the More option, going into the Set Toggles option and turning on the SBRotator toggle… but, that is normal). When the SBRotator toggle is green, you can rotate your device and everything will rotate. When the toggle is red, it does not rotate.

The toggle does allow you to turn off the statusbar icon for SBRotator (thus giving you more statusbar space) as long as you do not want to use the statusbar icon to lock your rotation in landscape. Even if you turn your device into landscape mode and then turn the toggle off (thus turning off the mod) it rotates it back to vertical mode and then turns off the mod. So, if you want to lock your rotation in landscape mode, you will need to keep the statusbar icon.

SBRotator, a hack that allows your iPhone to rotate in all 4 possible orientations, had been updated to version 1.3. The update adds a couple new features, support for more applications (biteSMS, Iconoclasm… etc) and contains quite a few bug fixes (see change log below).

A few of the noteworthy new features include support for an SBSetting toggle and the ability to turn off top-to-bottom rotation. The SBSettings toggle is a separate install however, you can turn the top-to-bottom rotation on/off in SBRotator’s settings in the stock Settings app.

The update also includes a new feature that allows you to theme the dock when in landscape mode. The three options include Default, Transparent and Use Wide Theme. However, if you change the dock theme to Use Wide Theme, it will put your device into Safe Mode as soon as you try to rotate it into landscape. The Default and Transparent docks work fine so, I’m not sure what the deal is with the wide theme dock.

The update makes a few improvements, fixes a decent amount of compatibility issues and adds quite a few new features (see below for full change log). The most noticeable change after the update is the improved performance. The hack is definitely faster and smoother.

In the Settings, you will find quite a few new features. In the basic features you now have the ability to choose from four Background Behaviors (Zoom, Crop, Stretch and Use Wide Theme), the ability to adjust the Animation Duration and the ability to choose between three Animation Themes. You can also choose to scale both the undocked and dock icons as well as hide the icon labels for both the undocked and docked icons.

One cool new feature is the implementation of a Taskbar Icon. You are now able to tap the taskbar icon (aka statusbar icon) to lock the rotation. For example, if you prefer the rotation to be wide (horizontal) you can just rotate your device and then tap the icon in the statusbar. Your icons will then be locked in that rotation and will not autorotate. Just tap the statusbar icon again to turn off the locked rotation.
