I don’t know about you guys but, I would love to have the perfect lock screen mod! I’m currently using LockInfo and like it. I can’t wait to check out Element… it looks like it is going to be pretty sweet.

Below is some info about the mod via the dev’s blog.

It seems the screens we shared of an alternative home screen for the iPhone created some buzz. We had no intention of taking it any further than a blog post but we figured this was something worth seeing through.

We got in touch with Jay Freeman a.k.a saurik. He’s the guy behind Cydia, an application for jailbroken iPhones that allows you to browse and download apps outside of actual app store. He’s crazy smart, passionate and geeky — three things we love here at T+L. Jay is going to be instrumental in making this happen.

If you haven’t already figured it out, getting this on your phone will require you to jailbreak it. That may not be an appealing option for many, but for the 2 million plus out there who have already done it and for those that are comfortable with doing it, this can be a reality.

The app and the underlying technology to make it happen are still in development so what comes out the other side will differ from what we originally proposed. The biggest change will initially be that it will render only on the lock screen. We went down this road for a number of reasons, primarily because of its relative ease of implementation, though there’s nothing easy about it. Jay is creating a framework to write custom lock screens called Cydget. Our concept will act as the guinea pig.

No word on an actual release date yet due to a last minute crash bug, but from what we hear it’s not far off. We’ll make an official announcement once it’s available. Clock Plugin for LockInfo adds the current Date, Time and Calendar into the LockInfo lock screen mod.

Once installed, the option is added into the stock Settings application under the LockInfo option. In the LockInfo option you have the ability to turn on/off the Clock plugin itself and the Collapse by Default option. Once you have turned on the Clock plugin the current day of the week, month, date and time will display on your lock screen. If you tap on the Clock bar on the lock screen, it will display the current month calendar.

A nice additional to an already sweet lock screen mod! You can get LockInfo and Clock Plugin for LockInfo via the modmyi source.

Lockscreen Dim Delay is an application that allows you to choose the amount of time before your lock screen turns off. Once Lockscreen Dim Delay is installed, it is added into your stock Settings application. Here you can choose a dim delay anywhere from 1 second to 60 seconds. If you set the dim delay for 1 second, your iPhone or iPod touch’s lockscreen will only stay on for one second before turning off. If you set the dim delay for 60 seconds, your iPhone or iPod touch’s lockscreen will only stay on for sixty seconds before turning off… etc.

When I tested this app, it worked great. So, if you would like the ability to control your lockscreen’s dim delay, you might want to check out this app. You can get Lockscreen Dim Delay via the modmyi source.

60 Second Lock Screen is a mod that keeps your lockscreen on for 60 seconds before it automatically turns off. Normally, the lockscreen will stay on for 5 seconds before turning off. This mod is great for those of you who have lockscreen mods that display email or weather or text messages… etc. It just gives you more time to view your lock screen.

When I tested this mod, it worked perfectly. After it was installed, my lockscreen stayed on for 60 seconds before going off. This is a code mod so you will not see an icon on your SpringBoard. You can get 60 Seconds Lock Screen via the BigBoss source.

Vibration Battery is a lock screen battery mod…the battery that is displayed with your device is plugged into a computer. The mod is a cool 3D style “battery.” It contains 17 frames that change as the amount of battery life changes. You can check out the Download page on ModMyi HERE. Advanced Lock is a lock screen mod. It looks like a log in screen in which you have to “scan” your finger to enter. You actually have to swipe your finger for it to work…you cannot just hold your finger on the spot. When you swipe your finger, a blue finger print will show up. This mod can be activated/deactivate via WinterBoard and is available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch. You can get Advanced Lock through the iSpazio source.

Lock Calendar has been updated to version 0.3. This version fixes a few bugs (see screenshots below) but, also adds some cool new features. You now have the ability to add Date Separators, Header Transparencies and Entry Transparencies. If you go into the app settings (which is accessible through the stock Settings app) you are able to turn on/off the Date Separators (which puts a line between the dates) and adjust both the Header and Entry Transparencies to your choosing. This makes the app much more customizable! A very nice update. Oh, the update also adds a Spanish translation! See screenshots below.

Last week, I wrote about a theme called Blue-Island. The theme itself did not work unless you had a French iPhone or iPod Touch however, you were able to use the lock screen from the theme if you listed things correctly in WinterBoard. Well, it seems the developer has made it easy on us and released just the lock screen part of the theme! It is called BlueIslandLock in Cydia and is available through the same source as the Blue-Island theme, the Apple-News.fr source.

The lock screen looks basically the same as it did when it was a part of the theme however, it now also has a very nice “charging” lock screen for when your iPhone or iPod Touch is plugged it. So, if you were a fan of the lock screen when it was a part of the theme but, didn’t want to go to all the trouble of trying to make it work correctly, you can install BlueIslandLock and easily enjoy it! All you have to do is activate it via WinterBoard and move it above your current theme.

Remember, in order for the notifications to display on the lock screen, you will also need to have some sort of status bar notifier application installed (StatusNotifier, IntelliScreen…etc).

Lock Calendar is a simple application that allows you to display your upcoming calendar events on your lock screen. I know there are a few other applications that also allow for this functionality on firmware 2.x (IntelliScreen, RemindYou) however, both are paid applications. Lock Calendar is free. When you install Lock Calendar, your events will automatically start to display on your lock screen…you do not turn the app on via WinterBoard. It will display your next ten upcoming events. The events are categorized by date and also display the time and title of the event. The app has a decent design and showed up nicely on all the wallpapers that I tested.

Overall, I was actually pleasantly surprised with this application. I tend to be a little picky about my lock screen apps but, Lock Calendar is simple, clean and does what it is supposed to. I think I will keep it around for a while.

Note: I did not have any issues installing or uninstalling this application.
