SkrewCommon 1.42 & iFastSwitch 1.2

The update to SkrewCommon and iFastSwitch add an SSH toggle options to iFashSwitch however, it is not active. The developer says that it will be active in the next version of the application. Another helpful new feature in the update is that when you respring your SpringBoard, it adds a little red rectangle to your SpringBoard showing you where to swipe on your finger on your SpringBoard to bring up the iFastSwith overlay. SkrewCommmon and iFastSwitch are available through the Skrew source.

iFastSwitch is an application that allows you to toggle your WiFi, Bluetooth and Airplane Mode as well as giving you the option to Respring, Reboot and Shutdown your iPhone. It also displays some system information about your iPhone including; the WiFi you are connected to, the IP address you are connected to, the battery percentage and system/media space information. In order to use the application, you have to donate (or have donated in the past). You can install the application without having donated however, you can not enable it.

When you open the application, you will get a main menu with the options; Settings, Visit Application Page and Donate. In the Setting you can enable iFastSwitch, Register and Restart your SpringBoard. What is cool about this application is that once it is enable, you activate it by swiping from the top right corner of your SpringBoard to the middle of the SpringBoard. The application will then pop-up on top of your SpringBoard. When you toggle WiFi, Bluetooth and Airplane Mode, you will know that are on when they are green. If they are toggled off, they will display red. To use the Respring, Reboot and Shutdown features, just double-tap them. If you would like to exit the application, just double tap on an empty spot on the SpringBoard. iFastSwitch is available through the Skrew source.

Note: SkrewCommon was updated to version 1.40 to support iFastSwitch. You will want to update SkrewCommon before installing iFastSwitch.

iReboot, PowerManager, Restart, Lock, Shutdown, Repring….what is the difference?

There have been quite a few apps released lately that Restart, Lock, Respring and Shutdown your iPhone. So, I thought I would run through some of the differences between them. It can get a little confusing so make sure you read carefully.

Restart/Killboard/Respring/Lock – These applications are one-touch solutions to restarting your SpringBoard. Just tap the application and they will restart your SpringBoard, bringing it to the lockscreen.

RespringBB – A one-touch solution to respring your SpringBoard without bringing it to the lock screen. Just tap the application and it will use the Set Language mode to respring your SpringBoard without going to the lock screen.

Shutdown – A one-touch solution to turning your iPhone completely off. Just tap the application and it will turn off your iPhone. This would be the same as holding down your power button.

iReboot – Allows you to Reboot, Shutdown and Restart your iPhone. Reboot will do a hard restart of your iPhone, bringing it to the boot logo screen. Shutdown will turn your iPhone completely off. Restart will respring your iPhone back to the lock screen. So, iReboot is like combining Restart/Killboard/Respring/Lock and Shutdown and adding a hard restart option which brings it to the boot logo screen.

PowerManager – Allows you to Respring, Lock Respring and Restart. Respring will respring your iPhone without going to the lock screen. Lock Respring will respring your iPhone to the lock screen. Restart will do a hard restart of your iPhone, bringing it to the boot logo screen. So, PowerManager this like combining Restart/Killboard/Respring/Lock and RespringBB and adding a hard restart option which brings it to the boot logo screen.

The only difference between iReboot and PowerManager is that iReboot has a Shutdown option which allows you to turn your iPhone completely off and PowerManger has a Respring option that allows you to respring the SpringBoard without going to the lock screen. Both applications have an option that resprings the SpringBoard to the lock screen and that does a hard restart of the iPhone bringing it to the boot logo screen. So, it is up to you whether you would rather have a shutdown option or a respring option that does not bring you to the lock screen.

iReboot allows you to choose to Reboot your iPhone, Shutdown your iPhone or Restart your iPhone. It basically combines Restart, Shutdown and Lock into one application. When you open the application, you will get a main menu with the three options; Reboot iPhone, Shutdown iPhone and Restart SpringBoard. Reboot will turn your iPhone off and then back on, Shutdown will turn your iPhone off but will not turn it back on and Restart will restart your SpringBoard (bringing to to the lock screen). All three options work properly. iReboot is avilable through the iSpazio source.

Shutdown was made by XianLi and Dave Henriksen. It was designed in order to allow people with broken sleep/power buttons to shut off their iPhone and iPod Touch. Once you tap on the application, a loading screen will appear and in under a second your device will be off. The loading screen graphic is very stylish. Shutdown is permanently staying on my iPod Touch, because using Shutdown to turn off your iPod Touch is a lot faster then doing it manually. You can get Shutdown from the iClarified source.
