I have tested application/themes from both of these sources and did not have any issues with the MacCiti source however, I have had a few issues with the Sleeper.net source. When I installed one theme from the Sleepers.net source, it crashed my iPhone and when I tried to install another theme, I got an error. However, I installed a few others and they installed fine. You always install sources at your own risk so, it is up to your whether you would like to add either of these sources.

It seems Cydia has had quite the update. I honestly hadn’t noticed that it had updated, it didn’t give me a pop-up saying that it had an update and it didn’t show up on the list of changes so I’m assume it just did it automatically. To see the full affects of the update, you will need to close Cydia and reopen it. Upon reopening it, you will get pop-up asking if you are a User, Hacker or Developer. This will determine which apps you will see in Cydia. If you are a user Cydia will only display Graphical apps, if you are a Hacker it will display Command Line apps and if you select Developer you will see all apps. Once you have chosen your settings, it will bring you into Cydia. Now, you will see the next change in the Sections option. If you select Sections you will notice a new Edit button. If you select Edit, you are then able to turn on/off certain categories of packages. For example if you do not want to see apps in the Java Category, you can turn it off. If you decide to turn a category off, you can easily turn it back on by going back into Edit and toggling it back on.

Another new feature is the Manage option. If you select Manage, you will notice that there are now two options; Packages and Sources. If you select Packages you will get a list of all apps you have installed via Cydia. If you select Source, you care able to add and delete source. Yes, I said ADD, If you select Edit in the upper right corner, you will then be given an Add option. If you select it, you can add a source url. However, the source has to have apps developed specifically for Cydia. You can not just add any source from our sources page and it will work. Back on the main Manage page, there is also a Settings button which will give you the pop-up you saw when you first opened the app. Here you can change your filters if you would like. Overall, a very cool update. I love the ability to add sources though, I’m not sure there are any to add at this time! This still does not make me like Cydia more than Installer but, if Installer doesn’t hurry about…they could have some major competition!

BigBoss has written an article warning of the dangers of using HanidcApp. Due to these dangers, iSpazio has removed the application from Community Source. Below the warning via BigBoss:

Here are the dangers of this app. First off, all packages have permissions pre-set by the packager prior to going into Installer or Cydia. So this app is totally unneeded. Worse, it changes these permissions and you can never get them back without using SSH and having the knowledge to do so. Secondly, iPhone follows Unix file permission standards. This means all normal files must be 644 permissions. Only binary executable files should be 755 and in some special cases 4755 with owner set as root. This app stomps all over these proper permissions and just recursively sets every file to 755 in the entire folder!<!--

This is wrong, but this is not the worst of it. There are several apps that require +s permissions. If you use this app and “heal” these apps, you will break them, and they will be unrepairable without a reinstall. If you run this app on the installer folder, installer is dead. If you are not proficient with SSH, you will have to restore. If you run this on Categories, BossPrefs, BossTool, Poof, (just to name a few apps) you will cripple those apps and have to uninstall and reinstall them.

I have explained to iSpazio how dangerous this app is and asked him to please remove it from community sources. I will post his response here.

There have been a few changes to RepoName since the last time I did a review of it. The splash screen has changed so that it no longer says Dav Team (because I guess they no longer exist). The UI of the application has also changed slightly…the search bar has been moved to the top of the screen and the enter button goes all the way across the bottom of the screen. The application now contains over 600 applications in it’s database. However, it does still displays weird if the source url is long and goes off the page. But, it is an quick way to look-up what source an application is in. RepoName is avialable through the iSpazio source. <!--
