WinterBoard Mods – Theme, Keyboards and Wallpaper Packs

WinterBoard I’m still trying to get caught up on all the mods that were released this week-end. After looking through quite a few of them (though, I still have quite a few left), here are a few I thought were worth mentioning. The first is a theme, iComplete via BigBoss. The title really does explain the theme…it is very complete. It mods almost every part of your iPhone or iPod Touch including, wallpaper, icons, battery, UI images, dialer…etc. There is also a match SMBSettings theme as well. The next mods are keyboard mods. Macbook White KeyBoard, via BigBoss, and Neutra Keys, via modmyi, both theme your stock keyboard (see screenshots below). All three of the mods mentioned above are activated through WinterBoard. MacCiti Wallpaper Packs – Including Screenshots

MacCiti I recently wrote an article about the themes that are currently available via the MacCiti source. Because the MacCiti source is primarily a themeing source, it also includes a few wallpaper packs. I’m always torn when it comes to wallpaper packs…they are an easy way to get wallpapers onto your iPhone or iPod Touch giving you more modding ability but, I don’t always want to install them because I don’t know what all the wallpapers look like or if I even want all the wallpapers in the pack. So, I thought I would make things a little easier on you and show you what is in each of the four wallpaper packs currently available in the MacCiti source. The four wallpaper packs include; TamsWalls, MacCiti Wallpaper Pack, MacCiti Aura and GH Wallpaper Pack.

Remember, when you install wallpapers, they are added into your stock Settings application under the option Wallpaper. For those of you who are curious, wallpaper are located in the Library/Wallpaper folder on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Below are the screenshots. [Read more…]

Backgrounds

Backgrounds Backgrounds is the number one free application right now in the App Store. So, I decided to see what all the fuss was about! Backgrounds is an application that allows you to easily look through wallpapers and add them your iPhone or iPod Touch.

When you open Backgrounds, you will see a upper menu bar with three options; Popular, Recent and Category. The Popular option will display the most popular wallpapers, the Recent option will display recently added wallpaper and the Category option will give you a list of categories for the wallpapers. You can scroll through the wallpapers by using the arrow at the bottom of the page. Once you have found a wallpaper that you like, select it. This will open a page with that wallpaper. From there you can save the wallpaper to your iPhone or iPod Touch or you can report the wallpaper. If you select Save, you will get a pop-up saying that the wallpaper has been saved…if you select Ok, you will be brought back to where you left off in the wallpapers. If you would like to report the wallpaper, scroll down and select Report Background. You are then given a few options for the reason why you are reporting the wallpaper.

Skrew Common and vWallpaper/vRingtones

VWallpaper Well, it seems that while I was traveling, we finally got one of the apps that many of you have been waiting for…vWallpaper/vRingtones. I gave the app a try and it seems to work great! One new feature in the vWallpaper section is that you can now add a picture mask to your wallpaper. The video wallpaper will then show behind the picture mask. Another feature that I really like is the ability to preview the wallpapers and picture masks before setting them. The only thing it needs now is the ablity to view a vWallpaper before you download it. That would be nice!

The vRingtones part of the application works well too. For some reason these apps seem to run a lot smoother now. When I had them on version 1.1.4 and below they were always a little sketchy but, they seem to work great on firmware 2.0 and above.

Webpage as Wallpaper

WinterBoardHere is an example of why it’s awesome to hack your iPhone. WinterBoard allows you to use a webpage as wallpaper. Now at first this might not seem that big of a deal, but think, you could have your twitter, weather radar, etc. as your background. Mind you, they’re not clickable, but it’s still kewl.

But even better, you can link to an image online. So you could make a link to an iPhone wallpaper online and just change the image without having to do anything to the iPhone.

Now… even better. I have this old php file that will pull random images from a folder on your server. I used to use it to change my wallpaper background on MySpace so everythime my profile would reload, the background would change. Well, I copied it over to this site’s server and dropped in a few wallpapers! Now my iPhone changes wallpaper every time I respring or reboot! I bet you could even make a moving gif wallpaper too! Planet-iPhones Source Merged with BigBoss

BigBoss The Planet-iPhones source has been merged into the BigBoss source. You can now find all the Planet-iPhone mods in the Planet-iPhones Mod section of the Installer. We have covered a few of the their mods/applications including the Chromium mod, Hypoxic Wallpaper Pack and ClearSMS.

Hypoxic Wallpaper Pack 3

Are you sick of the same wallpaper, are you looking for some variety? Well, the Hypoxic Wallpaper Pack 3 is an easy way to add 71 Wallpapers to your collection. When you install the Wallpaper pack, the 71 new wallpapers are added directly in with your stock wallpapers. So, you can go into Settings and then Wallpapers and you will see them there. The wallpaper pack includes a pretty good variety of abstract wallpapers (there are even some that us ladies can use!!). You can get the Hypoxic Wallpaper Pack 3 through the Planet-iPhones source.

Note: It is a fairly large file so, you might want to wait until you are on WiFi to download it. Below are the screenshots.

vWallpaper – Video Wallpaper

vWallpaper 0.3 Here’s another reason why you will still want to jailbreak your iPhone after the SDK apps are released: Video Wallpaper. This tweak hasn’t been released yet but we’ll make sure to let you know when it is! Here’s a video:
