WeatherIcon – Updating Weather Icon (Updated…scroll down)

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WeatherIcon I wrote a post this morning about a reflective dock application. I also warned in that post about another application title WeatherIcon (available through the same source). I received word today that the application had been upgraded and no longer creating crashing problems so, I decided to check it out.

Ok, I had this post written this afternoon but, I had to completely rewrite it tonight! We have done a lot of testing on this application and it does work however, it is going to take some explaining. So, take a deap breath and then continue reading!

When you install the WeatherIcon app in Cydia (be sure you install version 1.1.1 or newer), it adds an option to your WinterBoard titled Weather Icon. When you select the Weather Icon option in WinterBoard, it will activate the application. When the app is activated, it changes your stock weather icon to a blank weather icon and then puts the new temp and weather image on top of the blank weather icon. [Read more…]

WinterBoard There are quite a few new mods in Cydia today. There were three very cool unique new themes; AMANA08 (via BigBoss), Umicon (via BigBoss) and L’Amour (via BigBoss). All three of these themes do quite a bit of modding…battery, badges, UI images, keyboards, sliders, chat bubbles…etc. There were two new SMS themes; Christmas SMS (via BigBoss) and Simple Text (via Steffwiz’s Source). There was also one new weather theme; Winter Weather BG (via BigBoss). Check out all of the screenshots below. [Read more…]

Weather Underground –

I’ve used this web app forever and have never written about it so I thought I’d share it with you if you haven’t heard of it. I think it’s the best weather app I’ve seen so far. I’m biased because I use Weather Underground’s full site on my computer. Weather Underground for the iPhone is easy to get to, just go to

Once there you can type in a city or zip in the search box and find your city. [Read more…]

Who is Hot? 1.2

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

Who is HotWho is Hot? has recently been updated so I thought I’d write about it. We did a little review of it on an iPhone 101 Episode but here’s a little more in depth review. First, I must tell you this is a weather app. I know the title may seem to suggest otherwise but this app has to do with temperature, not looks :) It takes all your contacts and based on their location, gives you their current temperature. With the previous version, this was based on address only but the new version also takes info from the first 6 numbers of your phone number, which includes the area code, to determine your location. Just remember that if you have a friend or family that has a cell phone from one city and has moved to another and kept their number this might make things less accurate. [Read more…] has had an iPhone version of their site for quite a while now (Oct 07) but news is slowing just before the iPhone 3G launch so I thought I’d catch up on some old apps, in this case web apps, that got skipped. This will also allow new iPhone 3G owners to see things others may already know about. Finally, this will also add to our web apps category that isn’t very full right now. I haven’t been a big fan of web apps but there are some really great ones now and they are worth writing about.

Please send me links to your favorite web apps via our contact form on the about page and we’ll share them with everyone. Now, on to the web app review:

The link for the iPhone is Going to will still take you to the full site. The first thing you do is add your location. You can do this by tapping in your zip code or city’s name. You may add up to 5 locations.

There are three main choices at the bottom: Today, Maps, and Forecast. [Read more…]

iToday 0.5

iToday The update to 0.5 of iToday has made some changes to both the Settings and the lock screen display. The Settings have changed quite a bit, you now have the options; Enable iToday, Video Settings, Date Setting and Restart SpringBoard. The Theme option has been deactivate and a Display Settings has been added but is not available yet. One new feature on the lock screen is that you can now scroll the page. It will display the next ten Calendar events and then the list of Birthdays. To see all the Birthdays, just scroll down. I also noticed that [Read more…]

IntelliScreen 1.04

IntelliScreen The update to version 1.04 of IntelliScreen adds a few new features and fixes a few bugs. The new feature that I like the most is that if you have one of the features set as Only-If-New, it shows up in the View Layout and you are able to position it however you would like. I also noticed that the Calendar is automatically added as a larger size and then you can change it to the size you would like it. They have also added [Read more…]

iToday 0.4

iToday The update to iToday adds only a few new features. You are now able to choose what format you would like the date/time to be displayed in and there are two new themes in the Themes section. I personally like IntelliScreen but, I’m curious to know which you prefer iToday or IntelliScreen. iToday is available through the Skrew source.
