Okay, I’m a real newbie with IPhone technology so pls forgive me if this is a stupid question.
I’m seeing all over, on IPhone sites, the coming of “Pwning ur IPhone”.
All I could see was there was a few new things that are added by Pwning. What kinds of implications does it have for someone like me, an average every day Joe (actually, I guess a ‘Josephine’ since I’m female, lol) who adores her 1.1.4 8 GB IPhone?
I guess if I eventually did this, I’d lose everything on the phone? Again, I apologize if this is a stupid question but I’d love 2 know what this is all about becuz obviously it’s something exciting if every IPhone site out there is shouting from the rooftops about this.
Hope ur all having an awesome weekend,
    Mystique :)

When you pwn your iPhone it will be the same as Jailbreaking it. If you haven’t already done that, then check out this site where you posted and check all the apps, and games that you can install.

    Hope that helps

Hi, Josephine.I love as much my 1.1.4 iPhone as you do. I also hated to upgrade since I was afraid to lose everything on the phone but there is a way to make sure you get all the same settings you had in less than 5 minutes after upgrading, jailbreaking or whatever it may be. Just download the latest version of iTunes, then plug your iPhone (before putting it in recovery in order to upgrade), name your iPhone (ex:Josephine’s iPhone),then upgrade the iPhone and after the upgrade is complete just unplug your iPhone and plug it back in. When iTunes detects the iPhone it will ask you if you want to use the same settings as Josephine’s iPhone and just say Yes instead of marking it as a new iPhone.

The restore to a firmware version, even this pwned one, It’s a process that removes your stuff from the iPhone, there is somekind of backup that iTunes does but i NEVER use it cause it may bring back stuff that i don’t want’em to be back, like temporary files, junk, misplaced files, or garbled code i made by testing every app out there! ;)

So a restore is a good thing, to format it and put everything in again..

There are ways of getting somekind of backup. One of’em is Megafone (or Megaphone) that you can copy your notes and restore’em (drag’n'drop) plus copy your sms’ to text files (at least you’ve got your messages saved somewhere..!) and then copy them back as notes..
You “have” all your music and movies at iTunes, they don’t get deleted, plus all your photos, the are stored on your computer.. so it’s only a matter of minutes to clear up your phone with a restore..

The pwned version it’s just a complete pack of goods for everybody..

The worst thing is that you have to re-install every application back to your phone.. that’s why i’m making my own local version of every repository/application i like so i can restore and re-install my apps faster!

    I hope i helped!

OK. I’m a completely greenly here. I just learnt how to jailbreak my iphone using ZiPhone yesterday. Now there is already another one.
What’s the difference between these two? Which one is better? Which one is easier?, since ZiPhone is just one click and everything is from installer. Thanks! :)
