Apple’s New EarPods Video

Screen Shot 2012-09-14 at 1.22.03 PM

Apple has published another video to YouTube on their new EarPods. This was a product that really needed an update. I’m excited to hear how they sound and if they fit into my ears. Apple says they “tested 124 different prototypes of the EarPods on over 600 people.” If they don’t fit now, what else can they do? [Read more...]

Instacube – A Living Canvas for your Instagram Photos [Kickstarter]

I love photostream because all the photos my wife and I take get pushed to a flat screen that is hooked to our Mac mini with a screensaver displaying our photos from photostream. We had a small LCD picture frame but it fried after only a few months. The one problem with our photos is that most of them are square because we use Instagram a lot. Instacube is the solution! A decent sized, wireless, battery powered, square screen for $150. [Read more...]

The iPhone Scuba Suit A.K.A. driSuit

underwater-iphone-case-a555.0000001338932560

A friend of mine was headed on a family vacation and asked me what I thought about this waterproof case for the iPhone & iPhone 4S. I thought I’d check it out and post here to see if anyone else has used it. The case is sold on a website photojojo.com that has lots of awesome photography accessories. First, this case is $60 so we’re talking a serious accessory, not just a cheap attempt at a solution. I love this sweet .gif animation on their website of how the iPhone fits into the case. Angry Birds Slap Bracelets

IMG_4824

There are so many toys and accessories out there for Angry Birds that most are junk, but these slap bracelets are so nicely designed I just had to get them. It doesn’t help that I’m from the era of original slap bracelets, so when I handed them to my kids they didn’t know what to do with them. [Read more...]

Alesis iO Dock – iPad Dock With XLRs, Phantom Power, MIDI & More

iodock_angle_lg

This is the ultimate dock for musicians and audiophiles. The Alesis iO Dock has loads of features and connectors. It would go great with Garageband or DJ apps. The dock has pro audio connections like XLR & 1/4″ TRS. So far it’s not quite available yet but should be released very soon. B&HPhoto.com has it listed for $199 and approximate arrival in June 2011. olloclip – Clip on Fisheye, Wide-Angle & Macro Lens

DSC_5119

Ok, so I’ve found more sweet products on kickstarter.com for the iPhone and the next one I want to cover is a clip on lens called olloclip. It’s a great two in one lens that slides onto your iPhone and gives you fisheye, wide-angle & macro lenses. All you have to do is flip it around to switch between the lenses. Then just unscrew the wide angle lens to use the macro feature for 10x. The fisheye has about 180 Degree field-of-view while the wide-angle has double the normal view. If you support this project for $45 you can get your own. Or, once they are released they will be about $60 each. Check out the video and pics below. [Read more...]

The Oona – Multipurpose iPhone Stand

5

This is a sweet little iPhone stand. It’s just a metal piece with three holes that screw to a metal stand, suction cup or standard camera mount. It’s brilliant! Right now it’s listed on kickstarter.com as a startup and has over $75,000 in funding already. You can become a supporter and with a minimum $25 you can become a backer of the project and get your own Oona. We’ve become a backer and will update you when we get ours. Here’s a few examples of how you can use the Oona: [Read more...]

Lockitron – Unlock Your House Doors With Your iPhone

Screen shot 2011-05-18 at 10.42.54 PM

I would love to have this iPhone accessory that allows you to unlock your home’s front door from your iPhone. I live in a condo so I have to park in a parking lot and then help my 3 kids into the house while carrying all sorts of things. It would be so nice to just open the door from my phone before I get out of the car. Or of course when friends come over and I don’t want to get up from my xBox game. The device is called Lockitron and costs at least $295. There are different styles of locks so check out their website to see if it will work for you: lockitron.com [Read more...]

LifeProof iPhone 4 Case – Water, Sand & Drop Proof

bike_mud

This case looks pretty impressive and surprisingly thin. I saw the case on commandN – Episode #237. They have some pretty convincing videos on the manufacturer’s website of how the case works and I’ve posted them below. They are drop proof to military specs of 2 meters or 6.6 feet, waterproof to 2 meters and snow & sand proof. We’ll try to get one for review once they are out. Right now they are on pre-order only for $69.95. They also make a case for the iPhone 3G/3GS and the iPad. This would make a great case if you have kids! [Read more...]

Tankbot – Remote Controlled from iPhone or iPad

Tankbot-with-logo-SMALL1

I’m a guy. So I really like remote controlled anything. I love to watch videos of Traxxas vehicles on YouTube and dream of the day I can afford one. A friend of mine also has been leaving his Air Hog’s (Warning: Flash) helicopter at work lately and even though it’s a simple model, it’s addicting. So, when I heard about this little tank I can control with my iPhone or iPad, I was excited to learn more. I’m trying to contact them for a little more info. For now, they are going to be about $20. Here’s their website: mydeskpets.com/tankbot

iCarbons – Carbon Fiber Skins

IMG_0416 (Custom)

iCarbon skins are one of the best carbon fiber effect skins for iDevices around today! The skins come in white or black, with a carbon fiber look and feel. The skins are available for a variety of Apple devices and other devices too.

I was lucky enough to receive an iPad skin and a iPod Touch skin from iCarbons to review and I’ve got to say, I am very impressed! The skins are extremely easy to install and look amazing. They add minimal bulk to your device and are also scratch proof!

To install the skins all you need to do is peel the skin off of the backing sheet, align it with your device and then stick and push any bubbles out. I did have a little mishap when applying to my iPod Touch in which a corner wouldn’t stick down, but using a hair dryer on a low heat setting, I was able to heat the skin slightly and it then stick down with no problems.

Just Mobile Xtand – The iPhone Stand of Stands

xstand3

Ok, here is the deal, I was making dinner the other day (or maybe it was breakfast… I can’t remember) anyway… like most of my cooking escapades, I was using my iPhone for the recipe. And, as usual, Doug came in the kitchen halfway through my escapade only to find that my iPhone was dusted with flour, maybe had a sprinkle of seasoning on it and possible been garnished with a few droplets of water (though to my defense… he does always seem to come into the kitchen right in the middle of things when it is the craziest)! And, like usual, he looked at me in horror. “Opps… my bad!” [Read more...]

2 Bluetooth Tactile Keyboard Cases for Your iPhone

keyboards

I love the keyboard on the iPhone but if you would rather have a “real” keyboard here are a couple options for you. Both cases connect to your iPhone via Bluetooth. This means they will run on their own battery. The battery life for these keyboards should last over a month of normal use. Both keyboards also stay physically connected to your iPhone; one flips out, the other slides out. I’ll show you the one I like first, called the Keyboard Buddy Case. [Read more...]
