Twitterrific

This is one of my most used apps among all apps on my iPhone, even including the stock apps. It probably ranks up there with text messaging for me. I used to really love Tweetie until the update to Tweetie 2 where some of my favorite features were removed. So I started to look around and then I found Twitterrific. There is a free version that is ad supported so check it out first to see if you like it before buying.
So there’s a lot I like about this app and a few things I don’t. I’ll start with the good. First, it’s beautiful. There’s a pretty good reason for this and it’s because it’s designers are the iconfactory. They are first, an icon design company and now develop iPhone apps. They’ve designed icons for Microsoft Vista and XP, Xbox, Ubuntu, Red Hat Linux, Macromedia, and even Walmart.
But, apps don’t need to just look good, they need to work well. Twitterrific has a ton of features:
• Manage multiple accounts, searches & trends
• Unified timeline displays replies, direct messages, favorites & more
• Filter timeline for different tweet types instantly
• Easily view conversation threads between users
• Customizable visual themes & layout styles
• Powerful tweet actions such as RT, URL shortening, email, text compression & others
• Wide range of advanced settings
• Much, much more!
The app flows really well through menus and it’s very intuitive. It really is my favorite twitter app right now but I do have some things I’d like to see change or added.
• When tweeting and wanting to @reply someone there needs to be an easy way quickly enter in someone’s username but just typing the @ and the first couple letters of the username. Right now you have to scroll through the list of people.
• Right now when you search for something and then want to reply you have to choose what twitter account you want to use. The searches should be accessed from withing each account, not the main menu. That way you can create custom searches for each account and you’re not limited to 3 choices of accounts when responding.

Protect Your iPhone (and iPod touch) While Cooking
January 19, 2010 by Brooke

I use my iPhone quite often while cooking and more than once I have looked down to see my delightful iPhone covered in flour or streaked with egg (I know… tragic!).
This past week-end Doug and I hosted a tech party. Yep, you read that right, a tech party. You know, the kind where there is an Xbox in one corner (projected on the wall) a Wii in another corner (also projected on the wall), a 24″ iMac running games, a few random laptops laying around and of course lots of food.

iPhone 4.0 Firmware Rumors
There are a lot of rumors flying with almost a week until the upcoming Apple event where the tablet is supposed to make it’s appearance. Many think that the iPhone firmware and the tablet firmware are very similar and to keep things secret about the tablet, Apple hasn’t updated the iPhone firmware lately. Some say features of the new tablet will trickle back to the iPhone. Here are some of the rumors of the new iPhone 4.0 firmware via Boy:
There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
“A few new ways” to run applications in the background — multitasking.
Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.

Mophie Marketplace Case for iPhone 3G & 3GS
January 13, 2010 by Douglas
Mophie has announced yet another iPhone case that is more than just a case. This case has a credit card magnetic strip reader at the bottom. It works with their app in the app store to read credit cards. The case is made of a nice grippy rubber and can be charged and synced through the micro USB port. Again, this case has no release date and no price listed on their website. This app would be great for vendors at flee markets, farmers markets and events. Unlike their FLO TV case and other battery cases, this case does not have an extra battery.

I’ve really gotten into iPhone photography lately. Really, I’ve always loved the quality of the iPhone camera but with the new touch to focus, autofocus and video features I’ve really started using my iPhone over other cameras due to accessibility. With my iTunes gift card for Christmas I bought a lot of apps that are for photography or videography. I’ll be sharing my reviews soon but I wanted to share a website with you that I like to check in on about photography and the iPhone. Read more
SongSuggest – Song Suggestions for Worship Leaders (ON SALE $0.99)

| Available In: App Store | Price: $0.99 |
As my full time job I’m a Technology Manager for a church. When I saw this app I just had to write about it. I’ve been waiting to ask for a demo copy so I can do a review but I noticed that the app is on sale for $0.99 down from $5.99. The sale only goes until December 31st, 2009.
The app is a database of worship songs categorized by theme, key and tempo. The need for this app comes from the developer’s own experience. They were not iPhone app developers but needed an app that would suggest songs based on the message that was being preached. Sometimes at the end of a message, it’s good to be flexible to what the speaker is highlighting in their message. After networking with others, they released the app in the beginning of December. Once signed in, the app will automatically begin displaying wallpapers. You can pause the automatic slide-show of wallpapers by tapping the pause button on the lower menu bar. If you do find a wallpaper you would like to save, you can quickly save it to your Camera Roll using the save button all the way to the right on the lower menu bar. Read more
