Getting SSH to work on the iPhone 3GS

##ICON_NAME## We are getting emails from people asking how to get SSH to work on the iPhone 3GS. The only thing that is different is that you have to change the File Protocol to SCP. Below are step-by-step instructions.

1. You will need to have a jailbroke iPhone or iPod Touch in order to SSH into your iPhone or iPod Touch. For more information on Jailbreaking, please see our F.A.Q. Page.

2. When you jailbreak your iPhone/iPod Touch, the Cydia application will be added to your SpringBoard with the rest of your applications. You will want to go into Cydia and search for the OpenSSH application. If it is not already installed, you will need to install it. Read more

WeatherIcon 2.1.14 - Fixes Phone Bugs

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WeatherIcon There have been a few updates to the WeatherIcon mod since the last time I wrote about it. The updates were mostly bug fixes but, the update to 2.1.14 caught my eye. The update says, “This release “should” fix issues that people were seeing with phones running on EDGE that had incoming call issues. I got reports of problems with calls being dropped, no audio, and other oddities. This release should handle that more gracefully.” Read more

iPhone 3GS Prototype Hits Ebay

Ebay It seems that a white 16GB iPhone 3GS has shown up on Ebay. According to Electricpig apparently the Ebay lister seems to have acquired the iPhone in May (a month before the June 19th release date) from someone who found it in a airport. Yep, that’s right, he says the prototype iPhone was just hang out at the airport. Oddly enough, the lister does have a decent Ebay history.

The iPhone apparently cannot be activated or restored and according the the Apple Genius people it, “is definitely iPhone 3G S, He matched the Serial Number on the SIM Tray with the Serial Number on the LogicBoard - they are the same, but He told me, nothing he can do about it, because He was unable to locate the number in Apple’s Database.” Read more

LiveClock Update - Smoother 3.0 Integration

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

LiveClock LiveClock has been updated to version 0.4. Before the update, the LiveClock mod worked but, it was a little weird…when you first installed it, it would display six hands instead of three and you would have to tap at the very bottom of the Clock icon to open the stock Clock application. Well, the update fixes these problems. I no longer had a problem with the mod displaying six hands and the Clock application opens normally. Read more

SpringBoard Clock Update

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SpringBoard Clock There is an update to SpringBoard Clock, a mod that adds the current time and date to your SpringBoard, to version 1.1. The update is said to change the app so that the user can use their own wallpaper and includes some bug fixes. I gave the update a shot and I’m still not having much luck. The wallpaper of the mod has been changed to a blank wallpaper but, I still cannot use it with another theme’s wallpaper (by moving the theme above the SpringBoard Clock mod in WinterBoard) or use my own wallpaper with the mod (by moving User Wallpaper above the SpringBaord Clock mod in WinterBoard). Let me know in the comments if it is working for you. You can get SpringBoard Clock via the modmyi source. Remember, there is an English version of the mod. Read more

More Features for Facebook 3.0 Update - Video Upload

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

facebook Yesterday, Doug wrote about the Facebook 3.0 update and all the cool new features that it is going to have. Well, it seems the developer is still hard at work and if those new features weren’t enough, he has also integrated video upload ability into the 3.0 update. I have a feeling he has made a lot of iPhone 3GS users happy with the new feature. He also said, “Nothing like a few bazillion emails, tweets, and blog comments to motivate you to sneak in a few extra features at the last minute.” We don’t know what the “few extra features” are but, so far, he is off to a great start! Keep up the good work!

AT&T I’m sure many of you have heard about the “leaked” AT&T Memo detailing the success of the iPhone 3GS launch day. What I’m wondering is if this is true of if it is a nice PR stunt. I have to admit, I was impressed when I read it! Let me know in the comments what you think. Below is the memo: Read more

Run Pee Mobile - A “Must Have” For Any Moviegoer

Available In: App Store       Price: $0.99

Run Pee Mobile I was sitting in our office last night and Doug starts telling me about this application called RunPee. I was like; “Oh great, what is that going to be about.” When he finished reading the description I seriously laughed out load…what a great app!

“RunPee is a must have app for every moviegoer with a bladder. Run Pee tells you which points in a movie you can safely “run” and “pee’ without missing a hugely important plot point.”

Yep, that’s right, it tells you the times in the movie that you can take a restroom break or hit-up the concession stand without missing anything important in the movie! The app lists all the movies that are currently in the theater (listed by Title or Date). In the main movie list, you get the movie’s title, the date it was released and the running time. From that list, you can then choose a specific movie…this is where it gets good! Read more

SpringBoard Clock - Display Date and Time on SpringBoard

Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

SpringBoard Clock This mod was originally released in a different language however, it was then re-released in English called SpringBoard Clock-English. What the mod does is add the Date and Time to the bottom of the SpringBoard where your page dots normally are. It looks the best if used with smaller icons. If you are using the stock size icons, you can turn on the Transparent Dock mod, and that will allow the SpringBoard Clock to fit a little better. The application package also includes an html file if you would like to ssh in and do some of your own customizations to the mod…it is located in the Library/Themes/Springboard Clock - English.theme folder.

The mod comes with a wallpaper that I can’t seem to change using WinterBoard which means you would have to ssh in a different wallpaper if you would like it changed. You can get this mod via the modmyi source. Read more
