Infinidock: Scrolling Dock

I have wanted a hack for this for a long time and I’m so glad to finally have it. I think it’s worth the $0.99. It allows you to add scrolling to your dock. This way not only do the icons on your sprinboard scroll left and right, but the icons at the bottom can do this too, independently. There are even more control in the settings that allows you to choose how many icons are on a page, if it scrolls with snapping like your normal springboard or just slide through them without snapping and paging. Check out our video demos so see what it’s like.

The New iPhone 4G HD Commercial?
This is obviously not official but it’s the clip at the end that gets me pretty excited. I really hope that Apple released the next iPhone to have video chat. It would be a great feature that would blow away competition. I don’t really think Apple will change the overall design of the iPhone to something like this shape and color. I’m hoping for front facing camera, larger megapixel rear camera, a flash, zoom, & 1Ghz processor, better battery and maybe some of the new features of the iPad firmware. Any other features on your wish list?

Someone had a little too much time on their hands! Although these are just screenshots and not actual pages on the homescreen, it still is impressive. After using 540 iPhone apps to create letters on the iPhone, it seems they forgot one thing…

Preview of Square, A Credit Card Reader
March 17, 2010 by Douglas
Filed under Square, iPhone Accessories, videos
At first, this little device might be confusing since it plugs into the iPhone’s headphone/microphone jack and it’s not a speaker or microphone; it’s a credit card reader. I’m assuming that it reads the magnetic strip on the card by creating tones/different frequencies and feeds them through the mic port and into the app that’s running. It doesn’t use a battery as far as I can tell either so it must draw power off the headphone jack. This is a bit different than most other readers we’ve seen. Others use the dock connection to connect the card reader.
Here are some features that are listed on the developers website. No release date yet.
– 0 to $60 in under 10 seconds. Start accepting payment cards immediately with Square. No contracts, monthly fees, or hidden costs. Effortlessly manage all the money you take with an easy and intuitive interface.
– Pay quickly, securely. Create a Square payer account to speed up and secure every payment. With photo verification, Square users can visually confirm you are the card holder.
– Swipe it. Read payment cards from any device with an audio input jack, including your mobile phone. Accepting payments has never been faster or more convenient.
– Get real rewards. If you frequent a place that accepts Square, we’ll let them know you’re a repeat customer. That 10th cappuccino may be on the house, no paper coffee card required.
– Text and email receipts. Lose the paper. As a payer, get your receipts sent to your email or mobile phone instantly and access them securely online. You can also use a text message to authorize every payment in real-time.
– Do well by doing good.Square will donate a penny of every transaction you take to a cause of your choice. Working together to better the world, one small step at a time.

ScreenRecorder

ScreenRecorder is simple little app that captures video of your screen. Just load the app and hit record, then load the app you want to record. ScreenRecorder runs in the background. Once you’re done recording, you have to go back into the ScreenRecorder app to stop the recording. The developer warns of not recording over about 45 seconds due to memory issues and then crashing. You can view the videos from the app but not in your camera roll. This means you have to SSH off the videos to then upload them to a online service. From my tests, it’s not a very high frame rate but better than nothing. There is also no audio.

Apple’s latest iPhone commercial, Family Travel, focuses on the iPhone’s ability in making “family travel” much more convenient.
“It’s unbelievable how much better family trips have gotten. Just last week I checked us in on the way to airport. Found the kids a snack near the gate. And even had their favorite movie ready to go. Then my husband turned to me and said, “Did we turn off the lights?” So we turned off the lights. And that’s why I don’t go anywhere without my iPhone.”

Apple recently released “First Step,” an iPhone commercial displaying the ability to take, send and play video as well as the ability to conference call with ease.
“My son started walking the other day. Which was amazing. So I recorded it. Sent it to everyone, right away! Then we all jumped on the phone at once to talk about it. Which was kinda amazing too! We would never have shared all that without the iPhone.”

While Doug was researching a few things for the previous Friday Night Movie Night Video about Vertical Scrolling, he found the following video. I’m not sure how many of you remember this but, AppSnapp was a jailbreak from way back in the day. I had forgotten how crazy it was to fake activate and jailbreak an iPhone!

I’ve been hearing about this hack for a little while and, from what I can tell, it’s not in Cydia yet. Here’s a video preview of the hack which shows vertical scrolling on individual pages. Early jailbreakers will remember that vertical scrolling was the original way to fit more icons on the iPhone.
