Boxxy Cons Theme - WinterBoard Theme

Boxxy cons Theme is a unique theme made up of small icons. The theme contains a dock, wallpaper and 29 icons. Unfortunately, the theme is not packaged for the 3.0 firmware which means if you are on 3.0, you will need to ssh in and change Text.png to Messages.png. The iTunes icon is also packages incorrectly and is spelled iTunea.png and need to be changes to iTunes.png. You can find the icons in the Library/Theme/Boxxycons.theme/Icons folder. Read more

Well guys, it’s finally here. Now that the iPhone 3GS is jailbreakable, ZodTTD has released version 1.0.0 of psx4iphone. I don’t see it in Cydia yet, but I’m sure it will show up soon. We will let you know when we see it. Make sure you have the ZodTTD source installed. Below is what ZodTTD has to say about the release (you will want to read it).

SpotBright - Makes Spotlight Search Launch Hidden Apps

SpotBright is an application that was created to enhance the Spotlight search feature on firmware 3.0. The app allows hidden apps to be launched and “keeps a list of recently launched applications, so you can use them at a moment’s notice.”

When I tested this app, the ability to launch hidden applications worked great. My hidden applications showed up in my Spotlight search and I was able to tap on them and they launched.

The other feature of SpotBright is that it displays little icons of the six most recently launched applications on the Spotlight search page of your SpringBoard (see screenshot below). This allows you to quickly launch applications that you have just used. Read more

WeatherIcon 2.1.14 - Fixes Phone Bugs

There have been a few updates to the WeatherIcon mod since the last time I wrote about it. The updates were mostly bug fixes but, the update to 2.1.14 caught my eye. The update says, “This release “should” fix issues that people were seeing with phones running on EDGE that had incoming call issues. I got reports of problems with calls being dropped, no audio, and other oddities. This release should handle that more gracefully.” Read more

LiveClock Update - Smoother 3.0 Integration

LiveClock has been updated to version 0.4. Before the update, the LiveClock mod worked but, it was a little weird…when you first installed it, it would display six hands instead of three and you would have to tap at the very bottom of the Clock icon to open the stock Clock application. Well, the update fixes these problems. I no longer had a problem with the mod displaying six hands and the Clock application opens normally. Read more

SpringBoard Clock Update

There is an update to SpringBoard Clock, a mod that adds the current time and date to your SpringBoard, to version 1.1. The update is said to change the app so that the user can use their own wallpaper and includes some bug fixes. I gave the update a shot and I’m still not having much luck. The wallpaper of the mod has been changed to a blank wallpaper but, I still cannot use it with another theme’s wallpaper (by moving the theme above the SpringBoard Clock mod in WinterBoard) or use my own wallpaper with the mod (by moving User Wallpaper above the SpringBaord Clock mod in WinterBoard). SpringBoard Clock - Display Date and Time on SpringBoard

This mod was originally released in a different language however, it was then re-released in English called SpringBoard Clock-English. What the mod does is add the Date and Time to the bottom of the SpringBoard where your page dots normally are. It looks the best if used with smaller icons. If you are using the stock size icons, you can turn on the Transparent Dock mod, and that will allow the SpringBoard Clock to fit a little better. The application package also includes an html file if you would like to ssh in and do some of your own customizations to the mod…it is located in the Library/Themes/Springboard Clock - English.theme folder.

The mod comes with a wallpaper that I can’t seem to change using WinterBoard which means you would have to ssh in a different wallpaper if you would like it changed. You can get this mod via the modmyi source. Read more

Left-Handed Slide to Unlock

Doug and I have a friend who recently purchased an iPod Touch. After doing so, one of the first things he asked us is if there was a way to have the “Slide to Unlock” go the opposite direction. I was like, why in the world would you want that? Apparently it is more natural to slide from right to left for a left-handed person. Well, it turns out that there is indeed a hack that changes the slide to unlock direction…who knew! (Probably all the left-handed people!)

iGlass Sol Remix is a remix of the original theme. It uses some of the icons from the original theme and then adds a few new ones. The theme contains a wallpaper, dock, 277 icons and a handful of other UI mods. The theme is packaged for firmware 2.x and below so, you will have to ssh in (Library/Themes/MyGlassSol/Icons) and change Text to say Messages…if you are on 3.0 firmware.. Simplicity - WinterBoard Theme

Simplicity is an icon set that contains 27 of the basic icons. The theme does not contain anything but icons so, you are able to customize the rest of it yourself. There are two downfalls with this theme; it does not contain an icon for the Stocks app and it is designed for the 3.0 firmware. So, if you are on 2.x or below, the Text icon will also not display. If you are comfortable with ssh, you can ssh into the Library/Themes/Simplicity.theme/Icon folder and change Messages to Text…then it will display correctly. You can get Simplicity via the modmyi source.

WeatherIcon Updates - Status Bar Improvements

The WeatherIcon mod has had quite a few updates going from version 2.1.4 to 2.1.9 (below are all the change logs). I found that the updates have the mod working very nicely….even in conjunction with the Status Bar date mod via SBSettings. Let us know in the comments if you are still having issues with this mod. WeatherIcon Update

It seems we have another update to the WeatherIcon mod. Once again, I had no problem with the update on an iPhone running 2.2. The mod also seems to be working a little better with the 3.0 firmware. The Status Bar part of the mod is looking much better and it now visible instead of being too high and getting cut off. I did notice that the Status Bar mod does not work correctly if you are adding the date to your Status Bar using SBettings. It did take a few resprings and disabling/enabling to get it to work correctly (Status Bar) but, that could have to do some of my mods and not the actual WeatherIcon app. Read more

Metallic Glass Theme - WinterBoard Theme

Metallic Glass Theme is a theme with transparent icons. Many of you know that I am always on the look-out for a new style of transparent icons (because you can change the wallpaper and feel like you have a whole new theme!). This theme contains a wallpaper, dock, sliders, 58 icons, loading screens, custom UI….etc.

I do have a few problems with this theme. The Message application doesn’t have an icon. There is an icon for SwirlyMMS so, you can always change it to your Message icon using ssh. Black Chrome - WinterBoard Theme

Black Chrome is a unique WinterBoard theme. It contains a dock, wallpaper, lock background and 2,151 icons. When you activate the theme in WinterBoard, you need to activate both the theme and the icons…they are separate. I’m not a huge fan of the icon font but, you might like it. Backgrounder Updated - Firmware 3.0 Compatible

Backgrounder, a mod that allows applications to run in the background, has been updated to version svn.r247. This version of Backgrounder is for firmware 3.0 and above. If you are on 2.2.1 or below make sure you DO NOT upgrade. The update also only enables the basic backgrounder feature…there are no extra features at this time. The developer says it will take some time to get the features working on the 3.0 firmware.
