YouTubeThis recently popular video is a demo of an app called “Everyday Looper”. You can record a track and start looping it and add more tracks each time it loops. This video shows the great potential of this app and the iPhone.

ScreenRecorder

ScreenRecorderScreenRecorder is simple little app that captures video of your screen. Just load the app and hit record, then load the app you want to record. ScreenRecorder runs in the background. Once you’re done recording, you have to go back into the ScreenRecorder app to stop the recording. The developer warns of not recording over about 45 seconds due to memory issues and then crashing. You can view the videos from the app but not in your camera roll. This means you have to SSH off the videos to then upload them to a online service. From my tests, it’s not a very high frame rate but better than nothing. There is also no audio.

Live Cams

Available In: App Store       Price: $1.99

Live Cams Live Cams is one of the few apps that make it right on the front page of my iPhone. I’ll tell you the reason right up front before the entire review. I only use a few of their features but there are many more. So why is it on my front page? Because when opening the app, I can customize it to show thumbnails of the camera’s I’ve added myself. I’ve got it set to show 8 cameras all at once, then I tap on a camera to see it full screen. This way I can monitor all of our cameras at work from anywhere. The reason I can do this is because the app lets you customize what tab gets opened when the app loads.

settings

Now for some of the many features offered by this app. The first tab is the search tab. Once opened you see a list of presorted categories of cameras. If you’re looking for a camera in your locations or of a specific topic not on list there is a custom search button in the top right. This is more like an advanced search not just giving you the option to type in your search but from what category, country, state, and more. For the example below, I did a search for Hawaii.

##ICON_NAME## I don’t know if you guys have seen this yet or not but, TechnoBuffalo recently did a very nice video comparison of the iPhone 3GS vs. the Motorola Droid. The video is just over 17 minutes long and covers everything from browser usability and speed to customization to maps to app availability.

I’m sure all the Droid ads may have peeked your interest… so, take a look. Personally, I’m partial to the iPhone… obviously! :)

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

StickamStickam has recently released an iPhone app that allows you to view streaming video channels live to your iPhone. It doesn’t have a ton of features but it doesn’t really seem to need them. You can sign in or create a new account. You can chat live in both horizontal and vertical mode and you can search. The channels are sorted by Featured, Friends, Shows & Social. I think I would only use it for watching twit.tv live but it would work well as a security camera for your self too. You can set up an account at Stickam.com and stream your webcam to a channel. Then load it up on your iPhone and your good to go.

They claim that the application allows video recording capability on the iPhone 2G and 3G. Apparently VideoCam is currently in review by Apple and will be released “at a very affordable price.” I really don’t see this one making it past the review process. :) Read more

##ICON_NAME## I have heard that the 3.1 firmware gives the iPhone 3G (and the iPod touch) video editing capability so, I decided to check it out. Indeed, the firmware update does allow the iPhone 3G to edit video (without jailbreaking mind you). Below is how it works. Read more

TwitVid Update

Available In: App Store       Price: Free

TwitVid TwitVid, an application that allows iPhone 3GS users to tweet videos, had it’s first update today. You will not see any visual changes to the application until firmware 3.1 is released. Once the 3.1 firmware is released, you will be able to see My Videos, Top Videos, and Control Video Quality. I do think it is a little weird to have any update with features for a firmware that is not even available yet but, you know Apple. Below is a full list of features… including the ones that affect the current version of firmware. Read more
