Many of you are probably familiar with qTweeter, a very unique twitter and facebook client. We have been doing reviews of qTweeter for quite a while now. Well, it seems that the app has now been released in the App Store under the title qStatus… and still contains many of the same features.
I received an email from the developers that saying that jailbroke version of qTweeter will need some updating in order to function with the 3.1 firmware… which may take some time. However, qStatus it is now available in the App Store. Obviously, you can not slide from the statusbar to launch qStatus but, the app does still contain the features listed below (which some of the features are actually pretty cool… I’ve always liked this application). TiltShift is an application that allows you stimulate miniatures. “This application simulates a tilt-shift lens that tricks your mind into viewing a photo as a miniature scene like a model railroad for example.” However, it can be used for much more than just simulating miniatures…it allows you to blur parts of your photo giving you the ability to create some depth of field. You do not need to be an expert in photography, or even know what any of the above means, in order to enjoy this application. Trust me, I’m not extremely knowledgeable when it comes to photography terms and what not but, I like that I am able to bring one part of my photo into focus while leaving the rest blurred. Read more
QuickTip – Save Images from Safari
Once again, sticking to my Safari theme, below is this week’s QuickTip. If you have a QuickTip you would like to submit you can email it to QuickTip@appleiphoneschool.com
QuickTip – When in Safari, you are able to save images from a web page to your iPhone. When you are on a web page, you can tap and hold your finger on any image within that web page and save that image to your iPhone’s Camera Roll. When you hold your finger on an image, you will get a pop-up with the options to Save Image or to Cancel. You will also notice that the image has been highlighted in the web page so you know exactly what is being saved to your iPhone. When you select the Save Image option, that image is then saved to your camera roll…just go into your stock Photos application and select Camera Roll to view the image. This works with any image within a web page be it a photo, a logo, a graphic…as long as it is an image. Overall, a great feature that allows you to email, twitter, or save images for future reference. Read more

It’s hard at times to choose my favorite hobby. Technology or Food. Gadgets or Gourmet. iPhone or Chocolate Lava Cake. Well, with iFood Assistant, my two loves are merged into one $0.99 app. Ever since I purchased the iPhone, I’ve been on the lookout for a solid native app that would allow me to search recipes, save favorites in a recipe box, and create a shopping list or better yet, integrate with my lists on Remember the Milk. Unfortunately, the search continues (BigOven is the closest so far), even after this attempt from iFood Assistant.
Overview
With iFood Assistant, you can browse recipes, take suggestions for dinner, and view cooking videos. In addition, with a login to kraftfoods.com, you can add items to your shopping list from recipes, as well as store favorites into an online recipe box. If you have a particular idea of what you’re looking for, the search function is available, or you can just roll the dice with the Recipe of the Day. Under the “more” button is a settings menu as well as a grocery store locator. Read more
Save Pictures from Mail and Safari
One of the new features of the 2.0 firmware is the ability to save photos from your email and from web pages in Safari. All you have to do is hold your finger on a picture for a few seconds. A little toolbar will pop up from the bottom and give you the option to save it to your camera roll. If the image is also a link it will give you the option to visit the link. The really nice thing about this is it’s saving the original file size. So once you plug your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer you can pull the full resolution picture off. Read more

Well, we are finally getting back into the swing of things after purchasing two new iPhone 3G’s from the local Apple store. The best part of getting a new iPhone is the unboxing…if the packaging isn’t enough to awe over, opening it and seeing your new iPhone definitely is. However, the iPhone is not the only thing that comes in that little black (or white) box. There was some speculation on what accessories would come with the iPhone 3G. Well, here is what you actually get!
When you open the box the first thing you see is the iPhone. After that, is the black info envelope. As with the first generation iPhone, Read more
