Stickam Viewer Now Available

Stickam has recently released an iPhone app that allows you to view streaming video channels live to your iPhone. It doesn’t have a ton of features but it doesn’t really seem to need them. You can sign in or create a new account. You can chat live in both horizontal and vertical mode and you can search. The channels are sorted by Featured, Friends, Shows & Social. I think I would only use it for watching twit.tv live but it would work well as a security camera for your self too. You can set up an account at Stickam.com and stream your webcam to a channel. Then load it up on your iPhone and your good to go.
TwitVid – Post Video Taken From Your iPhone To Twitter
| Available In: App Store | Price: Free |
I am REALLY excited about this app. First of all, it’s free, but I’d pay for this app in a heartbeat. Very very well done. Ok, let’s get on with it. TwitVid lets you post your videos taken by your iPhone 3GS to your Twitter account. Just install the app, login, either record a new video or chose an exciting one, add your tweet and you’re done! It creates a nice short URL for your tweet like this and adds it to the end: http://www.twitvid.com/0343E
The website it takes you too is very nice. It uses your background for your Twitter account and has extra features like live chat embedded in the sidebar. You can also embed this video somewhere else, chat too. The quality is very good and upload speeds on wifi were great. We’ll test more to see how EDGE and 3G workout. Another nice thing is viewers start to stream the video as you’re uploading it. So even if you’re not done uploading, they can see the beginning and it buffers as you upload. Read more

Some Wiggle, Some Don’t
Doug recently found a bug in which some of his icons wiggle and some of them don’t while in “wiggle” mode after installing an app. Below is a video demo. Yes, it’s backwards…don’t ask!

Friday Night Movie Night: Waterproof iPhone 3GS

So I got a great idea. Let me know if you hate it or love it (vote below). Every Friday night I will post some of the best/most viewed iPhone videos on YouTube of that week. If you find any throughout the week, send them to me at video@appleiphoneschool.com. I saw this one over at iClarified.com and cnet.com. Now hopefully this is legit, but I kinda think it its. This guy drops his iPhone into a pool and it keeps working. Of course it could be like a flip video in a waterproof case, or even an iPhone waterproof case. Anyone want to test it out?
Stack v3 Demo Video
A couple of days ago Doug wrote about the new version of Stack, Stack v3. If you haven’t checked it out, you will want to…there are some pretty sweet new features. Well yesterday, Steve – the developer of Stack, posted a demo video of Stack v3. You can view it below. There is no ETA on when it will hit Cydia but, hopefully we will see it soon. For more info, hit up his website.

MacBreak recently took the iPhone 3GS and hooked it up to a bunch of pro level video gear. They used a PED3 iPhone stand to mount the iPhone. Kinda crazy idea. Pretty sure they spent more on the equipment than the iPhone. Here’s the video:
psx4iphone, PlayStation Emulator, on the iPhone 3GS

Well, ZodTTD is at it again. He has got psx4iphone, a PlayStation emulator, running on an iPhone 3GS and says that it is pretty sweet.
“I now have psx4iphone running very speedy on the 3GS. It’s at the point where Final Fantasy 7 is fullspeed at very least without sound. The build is rough around the edges, as you can’t switch games without restarting the emulator, and only memory card saves are currently working, no save states just yet. Both these issues are being worked on.”
Below is a video demo of psx4iphone running on an iPhone 3GS.

About two months ago, Doug wrote about an application called iTunnel3D. He liked the game so much that he said it was right up there with his favorite game FieldRunners. It seems that the developers are finally ready to launch the app in the App Store. They recently submitted a lite version of the game called iTunnel 3D Lite to Apple. I was able to get my hands on a demo of it and it is totally sweet! They will also be submitting a full version of the app called iTunnel 3D Classic. Below are the features of both the lite and the full version of the app. Read more

Yesterday, another friend of mine with an iPhone 3GS recorded a speed test between my iPhone 3GS and Brooke’s iPhone 3G. Now Brooke’s iPhone was recently jailbroken but this is still pretty accurate.
WWDC Live Blog Tomorrow & My Predictions

Tomorrow is the big day! As you can see on the right, there are only a few hours left until the big announcement. What’s going to be announced? Well, I have my opinions…
I’m pretty confident that the name of the 3rd iPhone will be called “iPhone Video”. There’s strong evidence in the iPhone 3.0 Beta firmwares to support this:
This screenshot seems pretty real to me. It would make total sense to have one app run both the still image camera and the video camera. Just toggling the switch into video mode would change the button to a red dot kinda like the red light on the front of most video cameras.
There’s a lot more that goes along with video, one of the best is a new camera/lens. A big rumor is an upgrade to the camera to 3.2MP and the addition of auto focus. This would be really nice for me because right now I carry a DSLR and a Flip Video along with my iPhone. I would like the iPhone to replace the Flip. I doubt it will ever replace the big digital camera. I NEED ZOOM!
Other screenshots show MobileMe video features and even one with buttons that allow for minor editing of the video right on the iPhone. A big wish of mine is the front facing camera to make video phone calls. This seems to good to be true. Maybe someday with the 4G/LTE network. I really do think there will be video recording with the new iPhone. Read more
