##ICON_NAME## Yesterday, Saurik released Cydget in Cydia. Cydget is a “framework for managing lock screen plugins.”

Cydget isn’t necessarily an application in itself instead it is more of a framework that allows other people to create lock screen plugins that work within Cydget. Allowing you to manage lock screen plugins without the use of WinterBoard. The plugins are managed in the stock Settings application where they can be activated/deactivated and reordered.

Once on the lock screen, you can rotate through the activated lock screen plugins by tapping the Home Button. Read more

Shazam Releases Paid Version, Encore

Shazam EncoreOk, I’m to sure I like this to much. Shazam is the sweet, FREE app that allows you to see what song and artist is playing by sampling a clip using the iPhone’s microphone. I’m only guessing, but if they were smart they would make commission from every song they sell through iTunes. Apparently that’s not enough money. I’m sure it’s not cheap to have an unlimited subscription to a service that tags almost all songs. Either way, $4.99 seems like too much for their new, paid version. It’s supposed to be faster and have unlimited tagging. The free version, for new installs only, will be limited to 5 tags per month. If you already have the app, it works like it always has. We weren’t able to do deep testing as neither app would work for us tonight.

HD RadioAs kewl as the idea seems, HD Radio on the iPhone isn’t what it could be. As you’ll see in the video below, to get HD Radio you’ll have to buy an $80 accessory that attaches to the iPhone dock port with a cord. Then you have to plug your headphones into the accessory, not the iPhone, to get sound. You might as well just buy an HD radio like this for $50. With the $80 price tag and all the cords, I’m pretty sure I’m out on this one. Check out this video and let me know what you think. Would you use this?

Despite Lawsuit, Verizon Continues Bashing AT&T & iPhone

AT&TDespite the recent lawsuit from AT&T, Verzion has released another round of commercials just in time for Christmas depicting the iPhone as just another misfit toy because of it’s lack of 3G coverage. I’ll admit that 3G coverage is limited, but I’d rather have the iPhone over the DROID or other Google Android Phones I’ve used. It’s just not an iPhone…

Apple to Sell $99 8GB iPhone 3GS?

AppleThere’s not much info for this rumor, but someone started it, so here it is: Apple will sell an 8GB version of the iPhone 3GS for $99. Currently you can only get the 3GS is sizes as low as 16GB. Having 8GB of space on the iPhone 3GS is pushing it. You have your music, videos & apps. Then you add pictures using the bigger 3MP camera & videos of 640×480 at 30fps you’re going to eat up space quick. Either way, a cheaper iPhone with all the power will be a better choice versus the competition.

Friday Night Movie Night: 2009 Best Apple iPhone Costume Ever!

halloweenSince it’s Halloween, I thought this might be appropriate. Actually this is amazing and hilarious. The screens actually work live with the iPhone. Check the info after the video for specs.

TAMPA, FLA., Reko Rivera (Left) John Savio (Right) — World’s first award winning “working” iPhone costume created by Reko Rivera and John Savio. Specifications are 42″ Display, 1.5 Hours of Battery Life, 85 lb and the “real” iPhone can charge connected to the USB on the display. The two costumes have 3 batteries each with a total runtime of 4.5 hours before needing to be charged overnight. Please email us if you need any more information about the costume.

BACKSTORY — This all started two years ago Reko Rivera and Bobby Hartman created a wearable large iPhone costume with a real 37″ lcd tv. An iPod was attached with a looping video of a real iphones screen in normal use. This time with the help of John Savio and John Matthews the team created yet another amazing rendition of the new iPhone 3GS. Savio loved the original idea but wanted to take it to the next level and make it thinner and actually work with user input! With some heavy researching and some solid determination Savio finally found a solution. He managed to modify the software on the iPhone to allow a live dual image output to the large 42″ lcd tv while maintaining the image in landscape mode. Reko originally came up with the idea and really pushed to see his vision come to life two years ago. This year John and Reko plan to compete in most of the local and online contest to win back all the money they invested in the costumes. The team has about $2000 into the two costumes and has no regrets!

GDZLLA: Post Pictures to Flickr from Tweetie 2

Tweetie 2One of the sweet features of Tweetie 2 is the ability to enter your own “Image Service APT Endpoint”. This allows you to add your own choice for where your images are posted if you’re not happy with the list provided. Here’s where GDZLLA comes in. You just visit gdzl.la to setup your account and it will post your images to Flickr instead of something like Twitpic. This is awesome because now I can post my image once and not worry about uploading it to Flickr later. The only downfall is it doesn’t name the photos. You probably don’t want the whole tweet being the title. Maybe have the tweet go in the description. Right now it just names the picture “Photo” and the description “Uploaded from Tweetie 2 via GDZLLA“. Then it just needs to upload it to my Facebook account and we’d be all set. This is currently a free service.

New 3GS Models Come With New Bootrom, Blocks Jailbreak

AppleAccording to info from some Dev Team members, new iPhone 3GS models are coming with an updated bootrom version 359.3.2. The current exploit, 24kpwn, is not working on iPhone 3GS models with this bootrom. We’ll know more and more as people buy iPhones but beware if you are buying a new one. Although there is no working jailbreak for this bootrom, hackers have always made it past any roadblocks from Apple and will likely make it past this one eventually. Here are a few quotes from the Dev Team on Twitter:

GoogleI recently recieved my invite to Google Wave. The recent video we posted showed a preview of the web app but claimed it wasn’t available yet however I was able to get it to work. I was using a laptop on a data card and my iPhone on EDGE and it only took a couple seconds for it to update both ways. Here are a couple screenshots from the iPhone.
