Oh my goodness I’ve been waiting for this.
All we need now is an icon to place on the Home Screen!

This is good but the ads when you click on an article tend to make the page not fit anymore and it scales the page down to fit the ads in

Yes we realize this…that is why it is just a simple solution. We plan on making if much prettier in the future. For now, you can double-tap the article text and it will resize it correctly.

For a site like this, it should’ve had that theme since day one.

But whatever. Nice that you added it, I was going to e-mail you guys about it.

Actually it did have it for about the first month, but I took it off because of the ads not fitting. If anyone knows how to tweak the theme to force Safari to open it a specific width please let me know.

    Bassir on April 9th, 2008 10:29 pm:

The official Wordpress support forum can help.

This is pretty cool but… I kinda like the old way, but I guess it gonna take some getting use to. Can’t wait to see what else you guys do.

Having a website ‘formatted for the iPhone’ or basically just a ‘mobile version’. . .doesn’t that beat the purpose of the MobileSafari application. Allowing you to browse websites just like a regular browser.

    Bassir on April 10th, 2008 7:29 am:

This is for the convenience of coming here via EDGE.

    atrophic on April 10th, 2008 11:54 am:

Have you tried viewing the full site on the iPhone? It’s so heavy in content along the left and right side that it takes forever to load, bogs down mobile safari, and it’s an absolute chore to leave any comments. An iPhone optimized version was necessary if only because of the performance of the existing site on the device.

isnt the whole point of the iphone safari that you can view pages just like they would look on a normal pc? i really like how this site looks like and i would like to see it that way on my iphone, like before. do we atleast have the option of how we want to view it?

    atrophic on April 10th, 2008 11:55 am:

See my reply to #9 above for reasons this was necessary.

    alex_dlc on April 10th, 2008 4:19 pm:

it was not necessary for everyone, maybe for some, but the original site worked perfectly for me, and i want it back! give me and people like me that option

  11. Berk on April 10th, 2008 3:48 am:

There is also on the German side…????

by the way, when i load this site on my pc, first it shows the original background thats like wavy on the top, and then it just turns all plain blue, no waves.

    Pretty Good Interface, Brooke.
Its different and cool ! Now I can directly visit your site from Safari rather than using smartRSS !

    alex_dlc on April 10th, 2008 10:32 am:

you could visit the site perfectly with safari, you didnt need rss.

  14. Jash Sayani on April 10th, 2008 9:03 am:

    HELLO !!!!
When I touch “Add to Home Screen” and clock Add, it says, “Webclip not added because an unknown error occurred” !
    Please FIX!

    P.S. No problem while bookmarking.

Great job, glad to see an iphone optimized version even if it is a work in progress (:

    alex_dlc on April 10th, 2008 3:16 pm:

iphone optimized????? the reason webpages get optimized for handhelds is because normal handhelds cant handle the normal format of the webpage, but this is an iphone!! its dosnt need optimized pages, the reason they put safari in it is so that you can view pages like they are suposed to look! so why see the optimized format when you can see the original? i understand that its faster if your using edge and all that, and i apreciate doug/brookes work, but i really really think we should have the option of how we want to view the site. modmyiphone has that option for example. thanx
