Available In: Cydia       Price: Free

WinterboardI came across a magnificent, yet simple theme in Cydia a couple of days ago called Metal iPhone Aqua. The screenshots strived me to look further. Just over 800 KB, this theme is a quick download from the Planet-iPhones source, and has two alternatives (Metal iPhone Blue & Metal iPhone Pink). This theme skins every base app, including Cydia, to a nice metallic feel, yet it changes no springboard icons (which is pretty good, because I hate having a theme that has an icon stick out like a sore thumb!). It comes complete with a Lock screen wallpaper, sliders, slider bars, other.artwork files, Cydia skins, a Dialer, a Safari theme, an App Store skin, YouTube skin, iTunes Store skin, Map skin, iPod skin, Phone skin, Mail skin, SMS skin, and an HUD. Phew, a lot of stuff! This theme is really nice, smooth, and simple for any iPhone/iPod Touch user to love.

how about the …signal bars… where did you get those?

    DJContagious on September 11th, 2008 10:34 pm:

ok the signal bars were in Customize, a package called “svdBLUE” in
    the File Set category “Bars”

the wi-fi bars are a package in Cydia called “MiWiFi Bars”

Just a warning… this theme messed up my dialler keyboard… as in it no longer works. When I press the dial button, the keypad comes up, but none of the buttons on the keyboard, or the option buttons below (recents, contacts etc) work. After about 10 seconds, it just crashes back to the main screen. :-(

Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix? Otherwise I’m just going to have to re-install.

    DJContagious on September 11th, 2008 12:10 pm:

i would say uninstall, uncheck any other custom dialers in WinterBoard, then reinstall.

    garv on September 11th, 2008 12:16 pm:

I already did this. I un-installed the theme, switched off all custom setting in Winterboard, then uninstalled Winterboard. Still not working. Any other ideas?

    DJContagious on September 11th, 2008 5:29 pm:

hmmm…..does it work when you uninstall the theme?

    garv on September 12th, 2008 8:32 am:

No. Its completely shot now. It looks like i’ll just have to reload the phone unfortunately.

Err, I don’t think he was applauding your Wordsmithing there…

    # (v. i.) To make efforts; to use exertions; to endeavor with earnestness; to labor hard.
    # (v. i.) To struggle in opposition; to be in contention or dispute; to contend; to contest; — followed by against or with before the person or thing opposed; as, strive against temptation; strive for the truth.

Rule number 8 in review posting. Keep it simple. :)

    Nice write up.

I agree with pdxDavid. If you are a regular poster on an English language board, weigh what you write. People judge the board by things that are posted by primaries on that board. I understand that when it comes to iPhones and iPod Touches, there is a huge dip in the demographic, but regardless of age, communication is everything on a board like this.

I also have a request to make of the Board leaders. From now on, please date every major post that hits the board. Going back over old posts, it is essential to know dates mainly to reconcile with moves by Apple and the Dev Team.

Succinct and well written review DJ. I had installed the theme quite some time back and personally didn’t like it too much. not very slick or subtle looking.
