“Where To?” Application to be Sold, Company Splitting Up

Available In: App Store       Price: $2.99

Where To?It seems the developers of “Where To?” are splitting up. They are also splitting up their apps amongst themselves like “Tipulator”, “I’m Here” & “Groceries” along with apps that are still in development. However, “Where To?” will soon be auctioned off to the highest bidder. As of the writing of this article I was unable to find the application “Where To?” in the App Store. Here is an excerpt from their blog:

It’s been a pretty long time since our last post. For good reason… I’m just going to get to the point and let everyone know that we’re in the process of splitting up tap tap tap.

A few weeks ago, I was about to announce the addition of a couple of new members to our team. But unfortunately that post got delayed and delayed as Sophia and I have been having some severe arguments over the direction of the company. Although it was a very tough choice to make, we decided that the best thing for both of us was to divide the company, its assets, and have us both continue on separately. This way we were each able to run things the way we want to without stepping on each other’s toes.

Our arguments ranged from the amount of money and effort to put into advertising and marketing to the design of the apps themselves. Because we each had an equal stake in the company, it was a very democratic process but very often our visions were at odds with each other’s. Moreover, we’ve been friends for a long time before starting the business and the whole thing’s really hurt what used to be a very close friendship.

  1. It’s sad to here that though the mean part of me wishes they put “Where To?” up for free before the end :)

    • wow I just read the rest of the blog and saw that it made $200,000 in the THREE months it’s been out. wow…

…who wants to work with me to make iPhone apps?

  2. Good friendships are more important than the mighty buck, especially in these days.
Regain that and see this as a growing experiences as well.

You most probably can collaborate in the future on projects as 2 verse 1.

    Just my personal opinion…

  3. Since Dec 16, Where To? is available again in the App Store under the new FutureTap brand. Read more about the acquisition at http://www.futuretap.com/blog/how-to-purchase-an-iphone-app/
