Capture

CaptureThis is the best screenshot utility yet! Like the utility Screenshot it adds a button to snap a photo that hovers above what ever application you are in, it also has a button to exit, that closes the hovering snap button. The huge bonus with Capture is that the buttons are movable! Simply touch and drag the left side of the bar and you can position it where ever you want. This makes it very easy to navigate around applications without the buttons getting in the way. The other awesome feature is that the photos are automatically added to your camera roll and are viewable with the Photos application. Capture is available from Digital Agua Repository and is found under the Utilities category. If you’ve ever used a screenshot utility, this is the must have screenshot application! Screenshots below.

NOTE: This only works with 1.1.3/1.1.4 iPhone FW.

Update: I am finding that the quality of the image is not as good as Screenshot. Slightly blurry when looking at the normal resolution.

This can now be found under BigBoss.

I tried this on my 1.1.1 and it did not work but it works on Jacob’s 1.1.4. So, I have a feeling you can only use in on 1.1.3 and higher. Let me know if it works for you.

It says that on the bottom of the description.

I added that note a little bit ago ;)

    Brooke on March 11th, 2008 12:13 pm:

    Thanks for adding that Jacob!

I hope they make one that adapts for Ipod Touch. Instead of placing it in the camera roll, somehow place it in photos. Screenshot.app, works well but it is a bit slow.

Unfortunately the iPod isn’t fully supported at this time. Look for better support in
our next release. That said the photos should still be on there.

    They are located under /var/mobile/DCIM/100APPLE/

Its called Yellow from iPodTouchFans. I did edit the Dock image though because on the original it floated rather high.

is there a chance you could upload it up for us? :)

    Jacob on March 11th, 2008 12:09 pm:

    Possibly, let me see.

    Jacob on March 11th, 2008 12:26 pm:

I cannot get the full theme uploaded till I get home from work. But I will link the edited Dock image in this comment in just a minute.

Yellow Theme by iPodTouchFans - Dock Image

Download the theme from the iPodTouchFans Repo, then just replace the dock if you can’t wait till later for the full theme.

    Jacob on March 11th, 2008 12:33 pm:

Hrm. noticing the background on that dock image is showing black, it should be transparent. Maybe it is just displaying that way on the web. Anyways, if it doesnt work right, I will upload the full theme this evening.

    Brooke on March 11th, 2008 12:36 pm:

I tried it and it is transparent…it is just showing black in the comments.

Here is the link to download the theme I am using with the modified Dock image.

Works nicely together with the Camera Roll, which I missed in the ScreenShot.app so far.
The picture quality is unacceptable as it is right now though.
But it’s only version 0.1, so let’s be patient and refresh frequently :)

I don’t have this app installed so, I went in to see if I had it. And, I was able to find it in the All Packages and in the Utilities category. Do you have the source entered correctly?

  9. Jim Rudnick on March 12th, 2008 6:38 am:

doesn’t work on my own 1.1.4 either! opens..then closes immediately back to the springboard…

anyone else on 1.1.14 having difficulties with this app?

    Kristin on March 12th, 2008 2:21 pm:

just thought i would add.. im not using dock.app either ;)

  10. Jacob on March 12th, 2008 7:21 am:

Hmm… it is working fine for me. Try disabling, or uninstalling Dock.app. That app is know to cause problems with other apps that run on top of spring board.

That’s because it captures screenshots and saves them enlarged for some reason.

Here is a enlarged shot with Capture and default size captured with Dock’s Screenshot utility.

    Brooke on March 12th, 2008 7:51 pm:

Make sure you get the app from the correct source…a lot of other repos are in a different language…so it will be the same app just translated into the language for that source.

    Kristin on March 12th, 2008 8:36 pm:

Ahh.. that was the problem. Thanks Brooke!

    Brooke on March 12th, 2008 8:39 pm:

can anyone recommend a screen capture app that ABSOLUTELY does work on a 1.1.4? I run SB, and like 3 other apps…nothing much on the iPhone at all…
    and Capture wont work…

    anyone?

Capture kept retarting to the springboard and wouldnt work on my 1.1.3 iphone. I restarted it and when it booted up the snap and exit menu had appeared…i was even able to snap a picture to my camera roll…i still couldnt launch it again. When I restarted again the iphone had crashed and would not start up. It would boot up with a constant screen flicker with nothing appearing on the screen. itunes would see it but nothing could be done. The only way i could fix this was to hook up to independence and rejailbrake and activate to kick it out of this crash. Once it finally booted up snap and exit were burned into the backround…I was able to uninstall it and everything went away…there is def a major glitch with this app and some iphones

I have no clue what kind of problems you all have.
The app just works, even together with the new BossPref item for it.

    Regarding quality of pictures:
The pictures I take are crystal clear when looking at them after transferring them to my Powerbook. They only are so blurry on the iPhone itself.
