   bad luck for out of the box 3.1 fw or updated 3.1 fw, as my wife has out of the box 3.1fw which has to wait for some more time it seems.

   I successfully downgraded my 3GS from 3.1 using Saurik’s method, and used my hackintosh to create the ispw. Took me the longest to find the PwnageTool since TPB was down awhile, lol

   so im running an iphone 3GS on 3.0.1 I jailbroke my phone using redsnow .8 am i able to use this Pwnage tool to upgrade to a jailbroken 3.1? or did i have to jailbreak my 3.0.1 with pwnage in the past?

   you can actually use a clean 3.1 phone. I recently bought an iphone that came with 3.0.1 and I installed 3.1. The jailbreak worked perfectly even though it had never been jailbroken before

    @John: I agree with you for the most part, but this is unfair to some people. For example, the people that have purchased applications from the cydia store. Without a way to jailbreak, the money spent just goes to waste.

    My phone (3GS) is currently jailbroken on FW 3.0. My question is I never retrieved the 2 files (I think one is called IBEC) the dev team spoke about that will allow you to continue to jb the phone. If I restore the phone to retrieve these files, can I still jb it with Pwnage tool even though it will no longer be pwned…? Thanks in adavance

    I had this problem. Actually downloaded the rock your iphone app. After running it, I noticed there were some necessary upgrades to mobile substrate etc that i did not see on Cydia.
    After updating all these extensions, I was able to run WInterboard without any crashes.

    Here’s a question… I have a Jailbroken 3.0 3GS with Purplera1n. I downloaded PwnageTool & made my custom 3.1 firmware. Now, do I have to “restore” to my custom 3.1 firmware to re-jailbreak or can I can I hit the “update” using the custom 3.1 fireware?

    i had the same problem so i made another custom ipsw but under expert on the pwange tool i uncheck activate and works now…

    but after i update cydia and its extensions it crashes on me anyone know what i can do to fix this

    I fixed the reception problem. Basically, go to Expert Mode > General > and uncheck the “Activate Phone” button. It should fix it.

    I have lost the carrier name, however. I am able to make phone calls but its still annoying.

    I have the same issue. I am able to make and recieve calls after jailbreaking to 3.1 ( 3GS 16GB) but my ” At+t ” carrier logo is absent.

    Ah well being a windows person, i’ll decide whether or not to remain jb, 32gb 3gs running 3.0 fm. and the dev team did state above that they will not be coming out with a windows version. Will have to decide whether or not to remain jb.

    I did it and it worked like a charm. I do have Itunes aim at saurk server so that maybe why I had no problems. Folks Chronic Dev tool for both mac and windows will be out soon and this will work like a charm.

    You should be able to do that as long as you’ve redirected iTunes to saurik’s server instead of Apple’s.

    There is a way to downgrade to 3.0 nad get your jailbreak for 3.1 on 3GS on windows. It took a while to figure it out but i got it.
