PBS Releases iPad App

PBS released their new iPad app allowing you to watch many of their programing right on the iPad. I tested it out last night and got distracted watching an episode on the wildlife of Cuba. There are both full length episodes and shorter videos. The one I watched was about an hour long. The video was great quality and buffered very well. According to their App Store description at the time of writing this article, they upgraded server capacity just a day after releasing the app. If you installed this app the day it was released and were having troubles, give it another try.

Not only does it have video programming, but it also has a very nice schedule of their live programming for your area. You can even favorite a show so you can always see available videos and air times. One thing I really wish it had was kids programming. It would even be sweeter if the videos actually downloaded to the iPad rather than streamed. Then I could download some Super Why, Dinosaur Train and Curious George for on the go for my kids! There are a few kids apps PBS has for the iPhone and iPad you can find here: http://to.pbs.org/pbskidsapps. They also have another PBS app here: http://to.pbs.org/pbsapps
