Latest Version of Cydia Ported to iOS 2.x and 3.x

Saurik, the developer of Cydia, recently tweeted that he has ported the new version of Cydia to iOS 2.x and 3.x. The new version of Cydia is currently only available to people who jailbreak using the latest version of redsn0w. The best part of the latest Cydia is that it is much faster. Below is a list (compiled by ModMyi) of a few of the other features included in the new version. Maybe we will see an update in Cydia for the Cydia app… we have seen that before. I personally would love to have the faster version of Cydia!

What’s New:
● reduced loading changes time
● section remapping optimizations
● faster reloading data
● faster, native search
● uses public SDK classes whenever possible
● rewritten, faster web views with zooming support
● changes badge works again
● more stable webviews (no crashes when queueing)
● redesigned settings page
● redesigned stashing page
● faster scrolling of table views
● bug fixes
● ads no longer break the package views until restart
● much better queueing UI
● stabler refreshing bar

iPad improvements:
● landscape
● popovesr
● modal views that cover only a portion of the screen
● less annoying errors with bad internet connections downloading packages
● updated section mappings, less typo’d sections

  1. The landscape quite does not work as the left ha d side of the screen overlaps the right hand side

  2. Since the new cydia is only available via the latest version of redsn0w o.9.6b5, will it be backward compatible with fw 3.1.3 for the iphone 2g?
this is one thing that the dev team shud implement is backward compatibility of redsn0w with previous firmwares.
