Restore Time :(

Well…I just had to restore my phone for maybe the third time (bound to happen when you install and uninstall as many apps as I do) though, I do feel that this restore could have been prevented.

This is what happened: I was going through some of the apps on the installer.app and decided to install the TTR alternate color. Well, I was too quick to hit install before realizing that is was a HighTymes app (they are not compatible with 1.1.1 – at least none of the apps we have tried here at AppleiPhoneSchool.com have been – they are probably the cause of at least four restores on our iPhones). I do wish their apps worked better with 1.1.1 because they have some great themes…oops, sorry, that was a tangent! Anyway, I ended up having to restore after watching my iPhone randomly turn on and off and switch through apps beyond my control (click here if you want to see a video of what it looks like). So, I did what any person in this situation would do, I solemnly hit the on/off bottom and the home button at the same time until I got an apple logo then released them and pushed the on/off button followed by the home button and held them until I saw the restore screen (I was plugged into iTunes when I did this). I’m always slightly relieved yet very sad to see the little plug and iTunes symbol…but, it must be done! I was then ready to restore…however, I did not want to upgrade to version 1.1.2 so I used our own f.a.q page information and did the restore with version 1.1.1 (a nice little hack…thank you Doug). And ta-da a freshly restore iPhone. I must say, it feels kind of nice to start over with a clean iPhone…though, I really wish I would have synced with iTunes last night! :(

  1. Your video looks exactly like the F.A.Q page. Perhaps the link is bad? Anyway, glad to here you’re back on track and enjoy installing all those nice 3rd party apps again. Great site, by the way!

  2. Haha….yeah…defiantly put the wrong link there…it is fixed now though!! And, I know!! I can’t wait to start installing again!! What should my first install be……

  3. Hi guys,
I’m italian, and I’ve got an Iphone.. My iphone is unlocked, but I had a problem making a restore… When i connect it to Itunes and i make a restore, selecting my firmware (1.0.2) an error appears.. When i do a restore, i must plug-in the at&t sim card? I use tim ad provider, so I don’t have the at&t sim..
