PocketTouch There are quite a few new options with version 1.1 of PocketTouch. I love the new main play screen. You will notice a little play arrow in the upper left corner…this displays whether the song is playing or is paused. It now also displays the time of the song, the volume in percentage and an info button which brings you to the Settings. There are a few new options in the Settings. You are now able to turn off the volume HUD (that is the image that you get then you turn the volume up and down), swap your swipe settings so that the volume change is horizontally and the song change is vertical, and enable a Shake option. When you turn Shaker on…you are then able to shake your iPhone to go to the next song. You can adjust the amount of movement that is required to change the song by increasing/decreasing the Depth. The Time setting controls the shake time…”the higher the number, the more difficult the shake feature will be.” Overall…a very good update! PocketTouch is available through the iPod Touch Fans source. Screenshots below!

Brooke: first of all, happy birthday :)
second, the enable reverse swipes where already in there in previous version 1.0b.
also, have you noticed that the app is no longer a beta?

No…I’m talking about the Swap Swipes option…not the reverse options! That wasn’t in there last time was it? Sorry, Sahil did the review of the previous version!! :)

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

In my “About” section, it syas that you are using StatusStyle. I must have still been in StatusStyle mode when I added in that little bit. Expect a slightly updated version soon that has a correct “About” popup, and a spell checked Help File.

    Thanks,
    Skylar

The new settings button is in the top right corner of the screen. If the screen is off, just tap as far up and to the right that you can.

For a future update, I wish there is an optio so that “pause” can be “double-tapped” instead of “single-tapped”. I sometimes tap the screen by accident which pauses the track and it gets annoying.

Hmm… Looking at your screenshots, the Enable Shaker setting looks horrible when used with a different font. I’ll have to fix that.

They should add the ability to shake when the iPhone is screen-locked (is that the right term?). Also, adding cover-art would be a good idea.

Thanks for the tip of getting to the settings.

I think cover art would defeat the purpose of the app or at least my perception of the purpose of the app. The app gives you the ability to control the ipod functions w/o looking at the screen to tap in certain places. If i’m not looking at the screen why would the cover art need to be there? If it’s cover art you’re looking for, I’d say use the normal iPod app w/o using PocketTouch. Just my opinion.

since the phone could be in your pocket while listening and its hard to fit your hand in your pocket and swipe..how about double clicking the home button while phonetouch is running will advance a song?

    Brooke on March 26th, 2008 12:17 pm:

Your iPhone’s touch screen should work through your pocket…so, you should be able to swipe from the outside of your Pocket.

i love this little app – great idea. i’m using it in my car, it’s much easier to swipe the screen then pressing the “next track” or “previous track” buttons while driving.

given that i’m using it in my car and it’s perfect for this application, i second the cover art suggestion. it’s the only thing stopping this from being the PERFECT “car-ipod” iphone app.

    thanks again

p.s. one other suggestion which may have been mentioned, the ability to start “playing” your ipod from PocketTouch instead of pressing “play” in “ipod” first.

Next version, please add a SENSITIVITY option, because it’s too easy to accidently tap the screen. Other than that, SWEET app!
