AT&TWalmart has announced their iPhone pricing and unfortuntly they are not $99 or 4GB. They are $197 for 8GB and $297 for 16GB. Although that might sound like bad news, you can still get iPhones for $99. AT&T is selling refurbished iPhones for $99 for 8GB and $199 for 16GB through December 31st. Hurry before they are sold out!

What did you expect? The internet is the biggest source of inaccurate reporting in the history of man. Let me know when the iPhone Nano arrives.

You have to activate an account, and they are not refurbs.

Nope, just need to enter your zip code I believe. As of this comment, they are still available.

upon further investigation I discovered the price of $99.00 is only for new customers. I am already a att customer.

    Chris on December 29th, 2008 1:56 am:

I am actually able to log into my wireless account and add this phone to my account and still have it showing the $99 price. Not sure what you are doing wrong.

I’m in the same boat as jaylou180, I can’t add it to my cart while logged in, only while I’m logged out. I guess it’s only for new customers =/

I got one of them. That was more like it. I still don’t get why they seem to have so many of these available.

Has anyone gone into an Apple Store to see if they honor it there, or is it online only? I’d like to know so I don’t waste a trip (if I don’t need to).

    Chris on December 29th, 2008 8:01 am:

My guess would be that they wouldn’t since these are refurbished iPhones through AT&T and not from Apple directly. You can order it online and have it sent to you though, and the shipping is free.

    iphonejunky on December 29th, 2008 10:12 am:

online only…according to the at&t store near my house?!

  8. iphonejunky on December 29th, 2008 10:11 am:

so since walmart will be selling #G’s and the dev team has an unlock releasing soon..i can go get a 3g and unlock it and use my 2G sim and be set..right????

    Chris on December 29th, 2008 10:47 am:

That should work in theory, but I doubt that you can buy one at WalMart without a contract. In fact, if you could buy one without a contract, wouldn’t it just work with your existing iPhone sim? I don’t really know how that would work.

    iphonejunky on December 29th, 2008 1:57 pm:

..i dont think walmart will have at&t contracts waiting for you to sign before selling the phone..im sure you will need to activate through itunes..similar to the first gen.if thats the case then when you create a ISPW through pwnage you can activate the phone and be set..maybe???

I’m a customer already and cannot upgrade to the $99 iphone either. I called ATT and they told me that I had two options.
    1. cancel my contract (pay 175 cancellation fee) and then get the 99 phone. why?
    2. add a line with the the refurbished phone. I only need one phone number and one iphone.
I asked to speak with a supervisor and the guy told me that my employer was responsible for setting the prices on phones LOL. That I should call them. I could not believe he was telling me this. I do get a discounted rate plans but why would ATT let others set prices on phones? the guy could not give me an answer and hung up on me.
Does anyone know a way to upgrade or buy the phone and transfer the current number?
    I appreciate any info.

couldnt you add a line and cancel the other??? although at&t might hit you with a cancelation fee on the canceled line??? thats tricky..and im not surprised about the customer service you recieved either..!!

I have a question: Does it come with headphones? Cause mine went through the wash and they work fine, I just don’t know how long the will last.
