AppleApple is approaching one billion application downloads. They have a sweet live counter on their website. To celebrate, they are giving away a $10,000 iTunes card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro. All you have to do is download an application from the App Store and you’re automatically entered. You can also enter on their website. It says you can enter up to 25 times per day but I could only get it to work once :( Here’s the info from their site:

As of today, nearly one billion apps have been downloaded around the globe. So we just want to say thanks — a billion. Download an app and you’ll automatically get the chance to win a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule, and a MacBook Pro. Just go to the iTunes Store, browse the App Store, and download your best app yet.

The rules say you have to be #1 billion. So whatever you do today just pushes the counter up. They say the 1 billionth download or the email submission received after 999,999,999 download will win depending on timing. I’m thinking they’re gonna have to blow off the emails — unless there’s a few minutes pause in downloads when they hit 999,999,999.
