iPod touch – $199 8GB, $299 32GB & $399 64GB (No Camera)

iPod touch The iPod touch did receive some attention today at Apple’s “It’s only rock and roll, but we like it.” event however, it might not have been what everyone was expecting.

Of course Apple gave all the statistics on how the iPod (including the touch) is blowing all other devices out the water and how they have sold over 20 million already. They also spent quite a bit of time demoing games on the device such as; sequel to Assassin’s Creed, Riddim Ribbon (a new game by Tapulous – developers of Tap Tap Revenge), Nova (new game by Gameloft) and Madden NFL 2010 (a new game by EA Games). They went on to say that there are 607 titles on PSP, 3680 on DS, and 21,178 on iPhone OS… not too bad (and much cheaper!).

After all the statistics and whatnot, they finally got to the good stuff. The iPod touch will now be available in three sizes 8GB for $199, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399. The 32GB and 64GB versions of the iPod touch have an upgraded processor making them 50% faster. They have also added OpenGL|ES capability to the graphics processor of the 32GB and 64GB versions of the touch.

The iPod Touch now does genius mixes as well.

That was really the extent of the iPod touch update. No camera or video this time around! :(

  1. My current 3.0 1st Gen iPod Touch can do genius playlists. Am I missing something here… Is there a new genius feature?

    • Nevermind.. delete that comment, should have read the previous post first. I am just not really thinking clearly; soooo disappointed about no camera in the new iPod Touch.

  2. Well, Stevey, now it has Genius playlists, so it plays songs that go together like a radio. Pretty neat

And I mean, they are not going to add a camera onto an ipod touch anytime soon.
That will give consumers one less reason to get the cheaper ipod touch to the iphone. The iPhone is where apple can really make money

  3. i think this is a very good deal considering it is the best deal i could find i am very happy with this and i am considering buying it rated 10/10

  4. excellent product, with lots of wow factor. particularly like the ability to carry photos around in high-res and the access to internet info anywhere there’s a hotspot, without paying big bucks for an iphone data plan.
