Dev-Team – Losing GPS Functionality When Unlocking 06.15.00 Baseband

The Dev-Team has added another update to their blog post about the ultrasn0w unlock for iOS 4.2.1. The update talks about an issue with retaining GPS when unlocking iPhones with 06.15.00 baseband. It seems that some people on 06.15.00 are losing their GPS functionality when they unlock their device. The Dev-Team does not currently have a fix for this problem and says that, even though the problem does not occur for everyone, you should just assume you will lose GPS capabilities when ulocking 06.15.00. However, they are working on a fix for the problem. Check out the full details below.

Update #5: Unlockers have been reporting mixed results about GPS functionality at 06.15.00. Until we can track down what differentiates those who retain GPS vs. those who lose it, be conservative and assume you’ll lose GPS at 06.15.00. As we work on finding the cause (and possibly a fix), please report your personal findings in our comments section. (Update: early indications are that while 06.15.00 is capable of GPS, it will require some further hacks. But please still be conservative and assume you will lose GPS at 06.15, in case the hacks don’t work).

I first Update via iTunes 4.2.1, then JB, And CHECK 100% sure my GPS works 10/10, just for that reason I JB + Update BB 06.15 for unlock, and inmediatly CHECK GPS and was dead. Now Downdrade 4.1, check GPS and doesn’t work, and is not a surprise because keep the same BB 06.15. Please Quick Fix for this, I use a LOT my GPS.

  6. Richard Clarete says:

Hello Dev-Team, I updated my baseband to 6.15.00 and unlocked with ultrasnow few days ago. I observe that the GPS is not totally lost as we update to this baseband, It seems that the GPS signal just becomes weaker. It can locate my current position but its not that accurate compare to the previous one.

    • Richard Clarete says:

My another observation is that the GPS still works in the default Google map of the Iphone 3gs but for some reasons it doesnt work in GPS applications like tomtom and IGO

    • I had much of the same, GPS still works but doesn’t seem to correlate location to city streets so that the circular error causes my location to jump wildly rather than realize what road I’m driving on.

if I connect to wifi it can find me to 10 meters.

      4.3.3 (8J2)
      06.15.00

  7. I lost GPS on my 3GS after updating to the 6.15.00 bb on 4.3.3. Wish I still had it!

  8. I just had to update to 06.15.00 since it got updated to 4.3.3 i really use my GPS and needed :( it does works when i open maps but it does not refreshes its not too accurate
