Waiting…
At the moment I’m waiting for 2.0 to be released and the 3G iPhone to be in my hands.
Stay tuned for further updates.
Things will probably change again but this shows that hackers are keeping up pretty well. The cat and mouse game continues!

that doesnt seem to be unlocked to me. for example, in the UK, only o2 network can be used…

i unlocked more than 20 iphone unit on my friends cellphone repair shop without any problem…not even once.
winpwn dose not work very well it crashed my phone three times and youtube and email accounts would no sync at all Ziphone 3.0 has not failed me yet so. it is a personal thing for you i guess but winpwn has way too many bugs

As for the unlocking, I probably won’t get anther iphone until it works with verizon. Here in the hudson valley, Verizon is the only reliable service. Not T-Mobile, not AT&T and not Sprint.
Order of reliablity – hudson valley
Verizon
Sprint
AT&T
T-Mobile

derfasaurus on June 13th, 2008 3:10 pm:
odds are it will never work with verizon, it uses a completely different network, GSM vs CDMA
Coco on June 13th, 2008 10:56 pm:
yeah don’t even count on it will not work with verizon for years
meebz on July 20th, 2008 2:54 pm:
You know Apple originally propositioned Verizon for exclusivity and were rejected, but don’t worry, if Apple wants to take on the Blackberry, they won’t keep the iPhone exclusive for long.
iLiberty+ or ZiPhone, it doesn’t make a difference as long as you have BootNeuter, you can read about it in my blog, if you have an doubts.
Big Zeek on July 20th, 2008 3:16 pm:
If you get the iphone 3G unlocked you could use it with Verizon, because Verizon has 3G network
MikeJ on August 17th, 2008 2:38 pm:
No – Verizon being 3G is not the issue. Verizon and Sprint use CDMA, completely different technology than GSM and its 2/2.5/3G derivatives. The iPhone will ONLY work on GSM-based systems. This is not a software or locking issue, it is a matter of the carrier frequency and technology (the method used to communicate with the base stations/towers). In the US, AT&T and TMobile are the only national carriers that use GSM (regional/local carriers in some urban areas not included).
christian on October 6th, 2008 7:15 pm:
well here in vermont verizon is pretty much being forced to make the change to gsm because at&t is somehow merging verizon and unicel with them, so maybe there is hope for u too
I hope they will add Rogers as well for us here in Canada..

i found that some verizon phones use sim cards
bsdz0r on July 11th, 2008 6:05 am:
Not using SIM’s is the least of the problem, the iPhone not containing a CDMA or EVDO radio. It’s probably a good thing that VZW declined Apple’s deal initially, the battery life on a EVDO based iPhone could be worse off.

I’ve read all the horror stories about Ziphone and how good iLiberty+ is but iLiberty bricked my phone, twice before I used Ziphone.
I’ve also read the bad regarding Zibri that he’s not a hacker and about his break from devteam but Ziphone has worked well for me.
[Reply]
Braden on June 13th, 2008 11:10 pm:
Please use “bricked” properly. Bricked means it is broken beyond repair. It is not bricked if you can repair it. Geez.
tank on June 14th, 2008 1:55 am:
What is the proper term then if the phone is stuck in a loop during boot? Fortunately, the Apple logo would show for about 2 seconds and it took several attempts to put it in DFU mode. iLiberty did this twice.
BTW, many iPhones were “bricked” with one of the firmware updates before it was figured out how to “unbrick” them. Google it. By your rationale, “unbricking” is impossible. Lighten up. Geez.

Zibri’s unlocks are good. For me at least, most user friendly. I have a first GEN but will sell my iPhone to a friend for $100. And buy the new on, probably the 16G this time.
[Reply]
I bought my first iPhone on the spare change I kept after breaking paper money, $1 bills, $5 bill etc..right now I have $102 in change, so I am more than half way there for the new 8G!! Can’t wait!
[Reply]
Ok the thing is, what good is unlocking a 3G iPhone? You have to sign for service before you can even buy one and you have to turn it in before you cancel service. =/ I really wanted that white one too, even though the plastic casing looks horrible, white is my favorite color, heh
[Reply]
Jon on July 13th, 2008 12:46 am:
I don’t care if I’m paying for 2 services, I want to keep my current phone number and carrier (which doesn’t sell the iPhone in my country). And no, we don’t need to turn in our iPhone when we cancel service, just need to pay up in full ($800) for the device.
Johnny Shredder on July 13th, 2008 3:00 pm:
You do not have to turn in your iphone to cancle service. Where did you get that idea?
I simply bought the iphone 3g with a 2 yr contract. I am free to use a different phone though
Josh on July 24th, 2008 12:54 pm:
Buy the new iPhone from ATT 16GB ($299).
Cancel service paying the cancelation fee ($175).
This all equates out to owning a new iPhone 3g, and not being in a contract. You can go get service somewhere else for less each month.
total – 299 + 175 = $474
In all actuality, the new iPhone is cheaper to buy and unlock than the old one was because I spent $499 on my iPhone 16gig, and $474 on my iPhone 3g 16gig. More point to buying the new one and unlocking it than there was for the old one!
just my two cents.

dude your a fool, you must have gone to the same school for math as bush. where is the tax in your equation there? with tax on the disconnect fee and the phone it’s well over the 500 you paid the first time…
Macs53 on September 12th, 2008 12:31 am:
In responce to blacjaq24, Dude not all states have sales tax Obama hasnt screwed up Oregon yet
first problem with this post, your listening to zibri
second problem with this post, your somewhat endorsing ziphone
just because it “works” doesn’t mean its correct, his methods of doing things can severly cripple a phone. and not anything you will notice at first. if you use/used ziphone basically plan on your phone screwing up on you in the future.
[Reply]
Skylar on June 13th, 2008 9:53 pm:
The third problem is that this clearly states M68AP, which means that it probably won’t work on N45AP (iPod) or M83AP (iPhone 3G).
Regardless, I will Never Ever know if this works, or if it is all a bunch of garbage (which I’m betting it is), because it is Zibri’s. I’ll also advise anyone who likes their devices to work properly and have well crafted code behind their devices to steer as far from Zibri as possible.
Skylar on June 13th, 2008 9:54 pm:
I meant to write M82AP, nit M83AP. My bad.
paul on June 13th, 2008 10:28 pm:
doug has no problems guys. I gave him the tip on this and he decided to post it. He is not endorsing anything, he is just showing that people are working on it. And by the way, I used ziphone twice to jailbreak my phone (no I didnt do it the second time because it messed up at all because I know you will come up with some childish comment) and it worked flawlessy both times. So there is no reason to bash doug for posting this, he is just keeping up with new stuff and any information about the iPhone. ( oh did you notice the “?” in the title, it does mean something)
Dennis on June 13th, 2008 10:51 pm:
i believe i said, it might “work” but its not correct, nor does it mean it will work in the future.
do you really want one example? how about zibri’s wifi fix…
did you install that?
if you did your screwed cause his fix was to overwrite the mac address of your wifi with his name in hex.
just in case you don’t understand how screwed up that is, now iftwo people with the same mac address try to connect to the same router…you can’t!!!
he has said himself that he is not a coder!
but by all means…keep useing an app that will screw up your iphone. just cause it SEEMS to be working.
also, on a side note, hes still only looking at firmware. he doesn’t have a 3g iphone, and he can’t look at the bootloader which is needed for an unlock. so everything he says is even more BS…
Douglas on June 13th, 2008 11:21 pm:
I have used MANY jailbreak and unlock methods and I have never had a problem with ZiPhone. I have with others. We don’t deny you to warn others with the problems you have had. Please share them. Jailbreaking, unlocking and installing third party apps voids your warranty and could ruin your iPhone no matter what methods you use. This is the risk of hacking.
Dennis on June 14th, 2008 12:08 am:
doug, if you won’t listen to me, how about if i link to a BigBoss article? you seem to listen to him sometimes
actually its not an article, its a search of “ziphone” on his page.

I agree with dennis… ziphone is such a mess… and i really hate it when a high quality website that provides iphone news is promoting a low quality software that can even brick our beloved iphone… this is sick..
Racerx on June 14th, 2008 6:46 am:
I,ve been using ziphone and have had great sucess with it. Even works on vista. I think all of us realize that hacking our phones lead to the possibility of inoperability. Apple never intended and of course support hacking on the iPhone. With that said I was able to use ziphone to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone in under 10 minutes. Very easy to use. If you know of a better utility then this by all means share it with us.
Jo on June 14th, 2008 11:11 am:
give it a rest. Just like doug said they all have issues. I am glad you won’t go near ziphone. PLs don’t. Its is the only one I use. It works best for me when I don’t restore. Don’t read post from zibri either that might help calm ur nerves.
Bastian on June 14th, 2008 3:41 pm:
Guys what are you doing???
Zibri is doing his work “for free”, so where is the problem? If you think his App is don’t use it^^. If you like it, donate! Without all these Guys out there we wouldn’t be able to use the Iphone/Ipod Touch like we are using it now!
I personally had just good experiences with Ziphone, and sry but, since the new version of ziphone the wifi problem is fixed, and I was/am/willbe able to play with my ITouch and Iphone at the same time in the same wifi network.
meebz on July 20th, 2008 3:05 pm:
People are so quick to attack someone who actually provides a free service that benefits a lot of people (ZiPhone). It’s not a branding war, it’s about results.
Unless you’ve experienced it yourself, don’t bash because others are bashing. The hacking evolution on the iPhone has always put someone on a pedestal and then torn them down, for one reason or another.
ZiPhone works, Pwnage works, iLiberty+ works. Different methods, same results.

Well as far as using Ziphone, I have used it over 10 times to unlock and jailbreak iPhones including my own, and not once have I ever encountered a problem nor have any of the iPhones that used zibris program, I hear about all these problems people have had using ziphone causing damage or malfunctioning to thier iPhones, and just dont understand how it happens, I have never needed to add any fixes or codes to fix my iPhone, on the other hand…I personally know people that have had many problems using other methods besides ziphone, now I’m not sitting here defending anyones methods of jailbreaking or unlocking, but just letting people know what Ive experienced, like doug said, the minute u decide to jailbreak or unlock is taking a risk regardless what method u decide to use
[Reply]
Jo on June 14th, 2008 6:53 am:
the bias against ziphone is ridiculous. All methods have issues. They just hate the guy. Why not write you own program? I hate haters. Just shot up if you don’t have anything good to say.
pooch on June 14th, 2008 8:50 am:
i have used ziphone 3 times and everytime perfect. One button click and just wait a few min. I hate your damn nerds who want to show off grrrr
Sounds to me that Dennis simply has a personal grudge against Zibri, I myself have used ZiPhone for over three months with no problems at all, any time i’ve had to restore was due to my own fault (first few times were due to not knowing about the smaller partition and thus filling it up) the rest have happened everytime after a long stint downloading new themes from the customize app and applying a theme that gives you the spinning wheel of death….you can’t blame Zibri for stuff like that, in fact not only have I had three months of wonderful Sim Free, Jailbroken iPhone usuage, with the odd restore due to either a bad app or theme, but my sis got herself an iPhone last month and I used Ziphone on her’s…but seeing as she isn’t technically minded she leaves the installer and themes alone, I install anything she wants and she hasn’t had one so called brick.
So Dennis I think you should grow up, because there are millions of stories like mine from using Ziphone,.
And can we stop it with refering to a frozen, bootlooped iPhone a brick…I see this same crap with wet behind the ears psp users that use custom fw, a brick is unrecoverable (meaning you may as well use it to prop up a wobbly table) what most people get is a partial-brick that is easyily recoverable with a simple restore, so all these so called elitist morons who run around crying Zibri bricked my iPhone are simply so slow in the head they must have trouble tying shoelaces.

Do you own this site to state what can be featured here? Why don’t you stop using this site.
pooch on June 14th, 2008 8:52 am:
can you tell me one good reason why ziphone “sucks” ? It works flawlessly on iphones. I think youre just too stupid to use a one-button-click application. Or maybe you dont know how to unzip/unrar a file? Lol
Chris on June 14th, 2008 5:26 pm:
@pooch
There is a whole back story behind the ziphone squabble that you apparently don’t know about. Zibri was accused of stealing all the code to make ziphone and then there was problems where his downgrade method or something was irreversible and screwed a bunch of people. Everybody has their side in the matter. And the people that don’t know about any of it, clearly have no problem with ziphone.
Chris on June 14th, 2008 5:31 pm:
Oh and when the dev team jailbroke 1.1.3 and wanted to not release it yet so apple couldnt patch it, zibri went out on his own to make ziphone and took in a lot of donations on an exploit that wasn’t his.
Bige2333 on June 14th, 2008 5:37 pm:
Yes we actually know this….about the story behind zibri…but Again…its a story….Whether its true or not is not my problem……or do you believe every story someone tells you???? now unless you were actually part of the dev team and worked with zibri and really know what the story is, what does it matter to you, so in conclusion , i clearly have had no problem with ziphone and yes i know about all the stories that have to do with zibri.
But at the end of the day I have a problem-free iphone and am enjoying it every single day to the MAX =]
pooch on June 14th, 2008 6:22 pm:
@Chris:
Yes, I AM aware that Zibri might have stolen the code of the dev team. But that doesn’t matter for the end-user,it is a “private” problem between Zibri and the dev team. If they have evidence that Zibri stole it,they can accuse him. Anyway,my point is… I don’t like Steve Jobs either but still I’m not complaining about his iPhone… These are 2 seperate things. The same is with the Zibri thing.. I don’t like the stealing thing but hey, I dont care at all, as long as my iphone works. Sounds a bit selfish, but i donate sometimes !

And the FCC is looking to greatly reduce the Fees on termination of contracts with all carriers a few class action law suits are going on as we speak on this issue with AT&T and Verizon

Stupid comment. The phones are being subsidised by the carrier, Apple will get paid full price from the carriers, thus the in store activation. $199 for the best smart phone on the market. It will put more iPhones in the hands of people who want one but couldn’t afford one before, Apple makes a squillion bucks and the shares will go through the roof, and you still come out the idiot.

Blah… ziphone?? yucks!
Excuse me for being a little under-educated, but seeing how no-one agrees on what is the best unlocking tool, I have a question to ask:
If I unlock my phone, and then decide to restore it back to apple’s original firmware (1.1.4) will that fully undo everything that ZiPhone, Winpwn and iLiberty+ have changed? If not, which of the unlocking tools leave something behind?
I’ve already had a go with all three, so a) I’m wondering if there’s any permanent ‘damage’ done and b) if anyone’s unsure which is the best one to use, we might be able to get it out in the open once and for all – or is it really just a matter of experience and opinion?
[Reply]
jo on June 15th, 2008 9:08 am:
You do permanet damage to your phone the day you unlock regardless of what tool you use. It is an apple phone and its still strong and good.
well,
this way they don’t put you on that stupid two years.
i went to att store and I’ve been told by a cool sales rep that I can by the new iPhone as a gift for someone else
the thing is that you won’t pay $199 for the 8gb nor $299 for the 16 gb,
You would have to pay a regular price as the first generation.
So 16 gb will be 499 without contract and 8 gb 399 without contact.
And don’t forget to tell the sales rep that you by it as a gift!

I have confirmed this with the Apple store here in Phoenix. He told me that regardless of what is being said online (and they are aware of the chatter), you WILL be able to purchase a 3G iphone and walk out the door. I told him “well what about the 2 year contract?” , he said “there isnt an AT&T within our store, and we’re going to be selling tons of them. I said “well, what about the $199 price tag” He said that the $199 is the price of the Apple 3G regardless of any 2 year contract that AT&T has put into effect.
He said that everything will be the same as it was with the 2G release!
dmc on June 14th, 2008 6:25 pm:
what about the rumours that you cannot activate iphone thru itunes is that for real do you need a 2 year contract from at&t enable to use your 3g iphone?
I used ZiPhone then I heard all of the negative things regarding it and tested out iLiberty+ and it was horrible. The user interface is nowhere near as easy to use and it’s just overall garbage.
I’ve never had a problem with ZiPhone, it’s worked every single time I’ve tried it.

Yes you can. T-mobile uses a GSM radio signal but you will have to settle for EDGE internet speeds. But it’s all worth the cheaper monthly rates. G’luck.
Yes, you can use the 3G iPhone with T-Mobile. I have been using my current iPhone since it came out with them and its great!
The only thing I am thinking is why get a new iPhone when T-Mobile does not currently support 3G? I really don’t need the GPS and I have the email working as it is. SOOOOOO….. There is really no need for me to get it. Now once T-Mobile goes 3G I will have to re-examine my situation.
[Reply]
The reason to go 3G on Tmobile in the states would be so that when you travel to other countries that have 3G, you can use it. Am I wrong?
[Reply]
heyy guys
i have T-mobile service and i want the iphone 3g but i want to know if i unlock it the visual voice mail, E-mails, app store and the rest of it will work

Everything stays the same except no visual voice mail and the slower EDGE network speed(instead of 3G speeds). G’luck.

I have T-Mobile USA as well, but i went out and made a brash decision this morning and got one with at&t. My question is does the phone have to be unlocked to use t-mobile….and does the in store activation hurt my abilty to unlock it.
[Reply]
Hey guys,AT&T said that the new iphone 3G MUST be activated in the Apple Store. Then how did you go and buy the phone without being activated in the store?I’m livin in the NYC right now btw.Plz help me!Is there a way for getting rid of activation in the store?

Huge Iphone hacker: Winpwn sucks its not even hacking its creating you own firmware. Now Ziphone is hacking code a huge difference
GO ZIPHONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Reply]
any news??? i live in italy and am in the us right now, and am gonna buy it. cheers 4 who hackes it!
[Reply]
no you do not get visual voicemail if unlocked with tmobile. App store will work since its not AT&T its apple service.
You can buy the iPhone for 600$ without AT&T from apple. As I said before since tmobile does not have 3g yet I would not upgrade. Yes you can use it elsewhere but sine I live here and use it here it would not make sense to upgrade.
I love my unlocked (thanks ziphone), orignal, working iPhone.
I will wait till next year with the new apple phone with better battery, mms, and copy paste.

I have the original iphone and its unlocked with t-mobile but i can’t use Safari, youtube, stocks, and maps because it says “Could not activate EDGE: You are not subscribed to Edge.” it was working for a little while after i first purchased the phone though. Will i have this same problem if i get an unlocked iphone 3g?

Did any of you try one of the newly-released unlocking cards? My friend in Germany got his iPhone 3G unlocked with Universal Sim. He says its working well, but i would like to hear some feedback from other countries..

ok I got the iPhone 3G from AT&T I payed 300 $ for the phone, 70$ for the account and 175$ for canceling the account after one month of usage of the 70$ account. now II have the iPhone and it’s leagal to own it. So I did not steal it from AT&T. But the phone still locked, I’m in Lebanon and I’m able to use apple store to download applications, just register an account and put the correct information with your credit card number and that will do the thing.
I’m not waiting for an unlock to be released for some hackers like Dev team or Zibri (ziphone) I hope they do that very soon.
Interseb where can I get this universal sim? I’m in Lebanon and ready to try it and send you feedbacks
You can find more info about Universal-SIM at their website:

They keep telling you about it but they don’t know how and where to do it themselves. Nobody knows. The only way to unlock an iP is to go to apple and ask them to unlock it for you. Good luck. I believe no-one has succeeded so far. Myself included, though I tried. $$$ and praise to anyone being able to permanently unlock the 3g. So far nobody did. Most ads are just hoaxes and fraud attempts selling you stuff that don’t work. If a solution was available people would have it already… And we’d hear about it… LOUDLY
There are sites advertising a software for approx. 30 USD to unlock the 3g iphone. I am sure they are selling other people’s hard work. ZiPhone e.g. works perfect for the first phones. Now bought a 3g phone and can’t wait to use it (I am lucky enough to live in the sole EU country without iPhones). Anybody knows a site?

Where in the world do you find such “Beta 7″ – the ZipPhone.org web site appear to be nothing more than a very uninformative and discouraging blog. I could not find any link to any software download. What am I missing?

Sorry, I mean no link to any BETA software, nor any information about such BETA.
Unlocked? iPhone 3g has been officially released in the philippines by Globe Telecoms. This is a hoax. Dont be fooled by this.

apple locked it and they can unlock it. it’s done by software and itunes. You send them your IMEI number and sync it with iTunes and voila. The big number here is they don’t want to and will not do it. Not for anyone.
who can get things done)
Not for me not for you and not for ppl who just want to use it in another country… Monopoly, yes. Can we do anything about it? NO
(unless you know ppl from the government

I have been unlocking 3g iphones for all my friends using quickpwn mac, and making custom firmware files. its not that hard. As long as you haven’t upgraded to 3.1 yet it is simple, once you go to 3.1 firmware the baseband is stuck and can’t be reverted.
