Just wondering, i got 3g n with official 3.1.2, do i need to go dfw mode or simply run shift restore?thanks…
After you create the .ipsw you just need to do do a shift restore.
Why do we need to Option-Restore, and not Option-Update to it via iTunes? Option-Update doesn’t work?

I think it’s crap that most people with iPhones are on windows yet dev team states in step 9 that they are not developing anything to jailbreak or unlock for those of us that don’t want to switch over to Mac!
The iPhone is a Mac. You own a Mac, whether you like it or not.The Dev-Team are Mac developers.

Hey listen I wasn’t the tard that went and spent a min of $1000 on 2 gigs of RAM and 160 gigs of ROM…logic would say to get 4 gigs of RAM and 320 gigs of ROM for $600! But if your in the market for buying over priced stuff I have some Monavie to sell you!!

I own both. Besides they are Mac devs. PC owners are SUPER lucky they or anyone, geohot develops anything for Windows. By owning both I get the best of both worlds. My e-machine cost $200 and my Mini mac $599. Trust me it took a minute to save for the Mac, but I am glad I got it.

Can the DEV team please clarify thier statement as they say that they will not be working on a pwnage tool for Windows.
There has NEVER been a pnwage tool for Windows. Do they intend to develope an alternative for Windows or do they mean that they have abanoned (by them) the idea forever to jailbreak for Windows.
They made pwnage tools for widows on many versions, where have you been? Mac developers do what they know best. With XP, Vista, now Windowz 7, who do they make a tool for????? PC OS crap is just all over the place and they can’t make a proper stable OS.
A new redsn0w (or something like it for Windows) will come out soon. Just chill. 3.1.x isn’t that big of a deal anyway.
What I want to know is where were they last week when GeoHot introduced his JB? Obviously they had this and they were sitting on it to increase the drama, which they love to provoke. So this kid comes along and scoops them, and they release this now.
Understand the comments related to not making a Windows tool anymore.
I relied on the previous excellent Devteam tool to jailbroken/unlock my iphone to 3.0.1 (7A400)
Now how do I move forwards to 3.1 or 3.1.2? …. I am v nervous about trying other methods (as these didnt work for me in the past)

Kroo. They made Winpwn, Quickpwn, Ulrasn0w etc for Windows, but they did NOT make a pwnage tool for Windows. If you go back and read all the past jailbreaks you will see that they are totally different.
I’ve lost my cell signal with this jailbreak. I’ll do it again and see what happens.
I re-did the restore and got the signal back.

Well I’m not into it the way I once was, but to me, if I can mess around with the phone, jailbreaking is messing around. So I do it. But I’m no longer a committed jailbreaker.

Whatever happen to the Pwnage Tool for Window called “Sn0wbreeze” that suppose to be ready by the 12th of Oct? Blackra1n is a cool JB tool but since I wanted to keep my phone unlocked this so called Sn0wbreeze is a must…Any thoughts about this Dev-team?
BTW if ‘forced’ to use blackra1n to JB – can bootneuter (from Cydia) be used to UN-lock 2G iphone after JB???

All this crying over a Windows version. Kroo is right. Windows OS is all over the place. Its VERY time consuming to make a version for all the Window OS out there. The Dev Team are Mac dev’s people. They do MAC. They have released Windows versions in the past after the Mac releases. So your gonna have to be patient. Otherwise, buy a refurb Mini Mac or find a friend with one if you just can’t wait. The Dev Team doesn’t have to do anything else for anybody for FREE! ever again. I am glad they do and glad GeoHot does when he’s bored..blackra1n.

Jailbreaking still doesn’t give me a network. The network field is blank. Is anyone experiencing the same problem and knows how to fix it?

As of right now, this has been a known issue with 3.1.x
Keeping fingers crossed that a new JB will fix this but maybe have to wait for the next firmware update (3.2.x or whatever).
Use MakeitMine and type ur carrier name or whatever u want ;)

Hi can anyone help me….i kailbreak my iphone 3gs woth a ipsw custom firmware 3.1.2 everything is fine phone is unlocked got Cydia,but can’t make Winterboard work…after installing the app phone go on safe mode i reboot it but still on safe mode i had to remove winterboard and the phone is back to normal….how van i make winterboard working??????

My one used to work but had to restore yesterday and now winterboard keep crashing putting my springboard on safe mode..had to unistalled it.I guess cydia need to update winterboard for 3.1.2…..
This tool locked my 3GS with 3.0.1 and it starts to give the error 1604 when I tried to restore the custom IPSW in iTunes.
The only solution I found is to update to official 3.1.2 and use Blackra1n.
It was the first time that a problem happens to me unlocking and jailbreaking iPhones (almost 10, from 2g to 3GS) and it was the first time that I was using a Mac to do this.
I agree with Mat saying that it is crap that they haven’t developed a tool for windows. But I appreciate what the dev team has done so far. I have unlocked my own phones for years and always loved using my iphone on T-Mobile but if they are no longer going to have tools to suport windows users it may be time to move on. The fact is that in the past few years the iphones competitors have either exceeded or have the same capabilities of the iphone. I think I’m over the iphone. Maybe us windows users should move on. There are other perfectly capable devices out there that allow the same customization and you don’t have to worry about jailbreaking/unlocking them. Just wanted to voice my opinion.

I can’t seem to get this thing to work! I have jail broken my phone before when I bought my 3gs with 3.0. However, my boyfriend thought that it needed to be updated and now its running 3.1.2 but it, ask I knew it would, became unjailbroken. Now I’m not really sure how to go about this. I ran the pwnage tool, it created a restore file and did a restore but nothing happened. I feel like I’m doing it wrong.. I’ve been working on this all day with no luck. Help???
when I try to make a custom IPSW with Pawnage tool 3.I.4 I keep on getting a message saying “wrong firmware bundle” and will not continue. I am stuck! can anyone help me? I have tried re-downloading the 3.1.2 firmware bundle but it still says the same thing.

I have bought iPhone 3GS from apple store paying full price so I don’t have any contract with any carriers. I have updated the firmware to version 3.1.2 using iTunes 9 on my MPB. I know i can jailbreak my phone using Pwnage Tool 3.1.4 however am worried about whether once i jailbreak it, would i be able to use any carrier or do i need to unlock the phone. I would appreciate if someone give me step by step instructions to jailbreak the phone using Pwnage Tool.

I have iTunes 9.0.1 installed but it doesn’t have the new application organizer. What version of the iPhone firmware do I need to have in order to finally see the organizer? I currently have an iPhone 3G with 3.0 firmware.

So I got a new iPhone 3GS with 3.1.2 firmware running 7D11 baseband. I used PwnageTool twice to jailbreak it but it won’t let me through iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

Dude, if your phone is pretty new and having the new bootrom, restore using the custom firmware does not help, it wont boot up after the restore. You will have to use blackra1n instead which is freaking annoying because everytime you restart the phone, you will need blackra1n to ‘rejailbreak’ it for you.
come to think of it, how often do you restart your phone? LOL
I used blackra1n once before but my Safari glitched out on me and other little bits, thus calling for a restore/rejailbreak.
personally i am not quite a fan of blackra1n, but my recent purchase of a new unit of 3gs, blackra1n did its thing to jailbreak it, and so far that is my only option. i guess you just gotta do a FRESH restore, then run blackra1n right after. that is probably the best solution for now as far as i am concern.
